Should America be focusing on Deficit, Jobs, or Both
Luke_Wilbur replied to a topic in United States Politics
I think Americans need to realize Social Security is not the problem. In fact if you take away the revenue the government takes from Social Security then you realize our elected officials have been not telling the full truth. -
I am excited that Made in USA is front and center of the political debate. I have digested the above statements from the 2012 Presidential candidates into a policy that I believe they all should agree with: The President did not cause the economic and fiscal crisis. Banks had made huge bets and bonuses with other people's money. Regulators had looked the other way, or didn't have the authority to stop the bad behavior. But ours is a fortunate land. Because the world uses our dollar for trade, we have a short grace period to deal with our dangers. But we need to grow our economy faster. The new rules passed restore what should be any financial system's core purpose: Getting funding to entrepreneurs with the best ideas, and getting loans to responsible families who want to buy a home, or start a business, or send their kids to college. A Financial Crimes Unit of highly trained investigators will begin to crack down on large-scale fraud and protect people's investments. All financial regulation needs to be evaluated on whether it hampers or grows our economy. The President is optimistic that there will be opportunities this year to move important pieces of business through Congress, because Republicans and Democrats will be under pressure from their constituents to show that they’re doing something constructive to grow the economy and create jobs. This will be done by focusing a positive message of a resurgent American manufacturing sector, a government that will believe in American exceptionalism again, and valuing the dignity of each and every human life. American manufacturers are hiring again, creating jobs for the first time since the late 1990s. We have a huge opportunity, at this moment, to bring manufacturing back. We have to seize this window of opportunity. Every multinational company should have to pay a basic minimum tax. And every penny should go towards lowering taxes for companies that choose to stay here and hire here in America. If you're an American manufacturer, you should get a bigger tax cut. If you're a high-tech manufacturer, we should double the tax deduction you get for making your products here. And if you want to relocate in a community that was hit hard when a factory left town, you should get help financing a new plant, equipment, or training for new workers. We also need to help manufacturers eliminate energy waste in their factories and give businesses incentives to upgrade their buildings. In a Global Market all countries have to play by the same set of rules, so American manufacturers and service companies are put on a level playing field, so they can compete. To crack down on foreign competitors not playing fair, a Trade Enforcement Unit that will be established and charged with investigating unfair trading practices in countries like China. Congress needs to pass Senator Graham's Currency manipulation bill which would allow the United States to apply tariffs to Chinese products where they have manipulated currency that has killed American jobs. We also need to send a strong united message that China has to stop hacking into our computers, steal our technology, intellectual property, our patents, and our designs. The United States must lower the corporate tax rates to be competitive with other countries in the world. Currently our rates are the highest in the world. We also need stop sending the wealthy benefits they do not need, and stop providing them so many tax preferences that distort our economy and do little or nothing to foster growth. We need to remove regulations that prevent aspiring entrepreneurs from getting the financing to grow. To turn these job-creating proposals into reality, we need Republicans and Democrats in Congress and the Senate to WORK TOGETHER, and refrain from turning straightforward issues into all-or-nothing battles. They should not legislate poison pills like tax hikes on job creators. America will emerge stronger and better and with a paycheck economy that's built to last, as opposed to one that's built on ephemeral bubbles like the housing bubble or the Internet bubble or the financial sector bubble. A strong paycheck economy will put us on a path to balanced budgets and paying down our national debt. The above policies proposed will never happen until we take the money out of the equation. That is why a law must me made to stop our elected officials from insider trading.

Watch this and read the words of my friend. I believe that John the Baptist was the last prophet and Jesus was the Son of God. I consider the Trinity similar to the 3 aspects of Adi Parashakti in Hinduism. Muslims believe in Imam Mehdi. One aspect of Imam is a master of religion. Others Muslims believe in Muslim (non-Ahmadi) believe about Hazrat Essa (AS) Jesus will return again.

Would love to see a Rick Santorum / Ron Paul ticket. They are true pure Conservatives that are not so corrupted by K Street lobbyist. Both of them have their draws across party lines. Both have compassion and beliefs that I can understand.

Just got this from CNN Report: American Amir Mirzaei Hekmati, on trial in Iran for espionage, has been sentenced to death. Iran's semi-official Fars news agency reported that a court convicted Hekmati of "working for an enemy country ... for membership in the CIA and also for his efforts to accuse Iran of involvement in terrorism." Hekmati, a former U.S. Marine, was arrested in August while visiting his grandmother and other relatives, his family in Michigan said last month.

U.S. Capitol and White House Cronyism Must End
Luke_Wilbur replied to a topic in United States Politics
Real Clear Politics has the hottest story on the internet. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/01/02/gop_rep_steve_king_boehner_responsible_for_weak_majority.html Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa): We have not lead in a clear way. American people don’t know what House Republicans believe in and they surely don’t know what we’re willing to fight for and I am as disappointed as the public is. I have been trying to generate a fight in this Congress all year, I wanted to draw that line and shut off all funding to ObamaCare, we would have won that fight with the American people. Laura Ingraham: Is Eric Cantor the problem? That is what I am hearing. King: I will just say straight out that its clear to me that Speaker Boehner made a decision, either before but I am convinced it was at least shortly after the election last November, a year ago last November, that we would not be in a position where we would be blamed for shutting down the government…that’s the only place where you bring the leverage to this Congress, to take on Harry Reid and Barack Obama, is you have to be willing to face a shutdown and you have to have the debate among the American people. Ingraham: You think that would have helped the Republican Party and you guys would be in a better position today had the government been shut down? King: The shutdown isn’t the point so much as, I don’t want the shutdown either, but if you are afraid of the shutdown you can’t have the confrontation and you lose every negotiation along the way. Ingraham: So Cantor or Boehner, which one is more responsible for setting the tone? King: I think it’s clearly Boehner because he is the one that began to convince the 87 freshmen you shall have to vote for a debt ceiling increase, that started in the first week of their election too, and we are not going to have a government shutdown, all of those things along the way. -
There is no way that our government is going to allow the sell of this large of a national media asset. That is like allowing China the right to buy Fox Entertainment Group. Yahoo! is the No. 2 site in the U.S. with nearly 180 million unique visitors each month. The company also reaches an additional 80 million unique visitors in Latin America and 15 million unique visitors in Canada. (comScore Media Metrix, September 2011)

Romney for President, Inc. http://youtu.be/SvxDzS7B774 Gets a whopping 126,210 views The question for the viewer is how is this happening? Money, strategic alliances, good marketing, and/or a really strong grassroots movement? Or is it another reason? Is this video more relevant to what voters want to view? Are the voters more concerned about the man more than the positions on issues he has?

Do Christians voters really care whether Mormons believe that Jesus and Lucifer were brothers? Most don't really know Jesus was the "Prince of Peace" not war. This is the age of media propaganda. It takes money, strategic alliances, good marketing, and/or a really strong grassroots movement to embrace an idea or person. Mitt Romney has 250 million to bolster his image. How many Americans will see this video? Democratic National Committee Only 3,194 views

An interesting story from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce web site. If only the ordinary workers from both countries could speak with each other. They might get something more done than our leaders. http://english.mofcom.gov.cn/aarticle/newsrelease/policyreleasing/201112/20111207864408.html The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) has made preliminary ruling on anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation against imports of solar panels from China on December 2, 2011. The ruling believes that imports of solar panels from China has caused substantial damage to U.S. solar panel industry. Head of MOFCOM Bureau of Fair Trade for Imports and Exports expressed concern that the USITC, in the absence of sufficient evidence for damage of U.S. solar panel industry, and regardless of defenses from Chinese solar panel industry and strong opposition from the U.S. solar panel industry and other interested parties, has made a preliminary ruling that is inconsistent with the facts, which highlights the strong trade protectionism of the U.S. And China hopes the U.S. to analyze in an objective manner on the real causes of the incompetitiveness in some U.S. solar panel enterprises, and avoid abuse of trade remedy measures which may hurt normal trade and mutually beneficial cooperation in new energy between enterprises of the two countries.

The Chinese Cyber-Invasion - Using American Computer Firms
Luke_Wilbur replied to a topic in Science and Technology
Looks like the Chinese want to spam more high profile businesses with their wares and services. Do you think our government will do anything about it? I don't! Chinese hackers attacked the Pentagon, the Capitol, and now the US Chamber of Commerce. God forbid they get the intelligence to take over our drones. Military computer weapons have no allegiance. If a military weapon system gets hacked like the one in Iran, it can be used against us. ======================================================== A group of hackers in China breached the computer defenses of America's top business-lobbying group and gained access to everything stored on its systems, including information about its three million members, according to several people familiar with the matter. http://online.wsj.co...1568535300.html -
This is quite scary... ======================================================================= Locked up in the bowels of the medical faculty building here and accessible to only a handful of scientists lies a man-made flu virus that could change world history if it were ever set free. The virus is an H5N1 avian influenza strain that has been genetically altered and is now easily transmissible between ferrets, the animals that most closely mimic the human response to flu. Scientists believe it's likely that the pathogen, if it emerged in nature or were released, would trigger an influenza pandemic, quite possibly with many millions of deaths. In a 17th floor office in the same building, virologist Ron Fouchier of Erasmus Medical Center calmly explains why his team created what he says is "probably one of the most dangerous viruses you can make"—and why he wants to publish a paper describing how they did it. Fouchier is also bracing for a media storm. After he talked to Science Insider yesterday, he had an appointment with an institutional press officer to chart a communication strategy. Fouchier's paper is one of two studies that have triggered an intense debate about the limits of scientific freedom and that could portend changes in the way U.S. researchers handle so-called dual-use research: studies that have a potential public health benefit but could also be useful for nefarious purposes like biowarfare or bioterrorism. The other study—also on H5N1, and with comparable results—was done by a team led by virologist Yoshihiro Kawaoka at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and the University of Tokyo, several scientists told ScienceInsider. (Kawaoka did not respond to interview requests.) Both studies have been submitted for publication, and both are currently under review by the U.S. National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity (NSABB), which on a few previous occasions has been asked by scientists or journals to review papers that caused worries. NSABB chair Paul Keim, a microbial geneticist, says he cannot discuss specific studies but confirms that the board has "worked very hard and very intensely for several weeks on studies about H5N1 transmissibility in mammals." The group plans to issue a public statement soon, says Keim, and is likely to issue additional recommendations about this type of research. "We'll have a lot to say," he says. Read more
