What do you say to people who feel like even if they vote they still lose?

The federal government has a minimum wage and most states have one that is slightly higher than the federal rate. Would a raising of the minimum wage really benefit people or would businesses pass on this cost to consumers making it all like a cat chasing its own tail? I wonder.

Next week, six states will most likely vote favorably to ban under their constitution Same Sex Marriage to join the ranks of 37 other states that have done such by constitutional amendments or laws. The United States Congress needs to amend the DC Home Rule Act to add a clause that forbids the DC City Council from attempting to change the law in DC on marriage.

Brankdc is really Martin Austermuhle and I know that. Austermuhle has just been squeezed out from being an editor for DCist. Look at that blog. Austermuhle was once the No# 1 editor, then he was demoted to co-editor, then editor at large and he will be gone soon. Why... Because he misused his blog to wage a personal vendetta, his bosses in NYC caught on to this on DCist and on DC Pages and now he is paying for it. Also you can see when Martin is around and posting on DCist he is posting here on DC Pages but when he is out of town, there is no postings on DCist or here on DC Pages. Just following the sequence. Austermuhle was booted because Gothamist in NYC knew he had done wriong and did not want a lawsuit. For Luke's benefit... and I cannot disclose my source but a former blooger for DCist told me Austermuhle is BFrankdc, Truthseeker, Factchecker and he hide behind different computers on different servers at work. I am not the only person Austermuhle is at ward with.

THE SUM OF ALL FEARS In my last published post here on DC Watch 10-29-2006, I made an issue of Democratic nominee for chair of the DC City Council Vincent Gray’s desire to become mayor of the District of Columbia and how I believe that he will not want to see Adrian Fenty if he becomes mayor succeed. There is no denying that Vincent Gray is a shrewd businessman/lawyer/politician, that his desire to climb the ranks of our political hierarchy quickly is manifested in his becoming council member for ward 7 and two years later our possible next chair of the council. At 63, Vincent Gray would be 67 in 2010 and 71 in 2014. Considering Adrian Fenty is only 36 and would be 40 and 44 respectively, Vincent Gray knows that a successful Adrian Fenty would kill off any chance of him becoming mayor and thus it is not in Vincent Gray’s best political interest to do anything that would help Adrian Fenty be a success and move onto a second or third term. Add to Vincent Gray’s strong desire to be mayor, the dislike for Adrian Fenty by Kwame Brown, Carol Schwartz, David Catania and Jack Evans covertly and you have a making of “Sharon Pratt-Kelly II” with all the needed players to make it happen who would be enriched by Adrian Fenty failing and going into political obscurity as Sharon Pratt-Kelly has! If you know the real Vincent Gray then none of this is far fetched but a serious reality I think we will all see unfold, and unfold in a very clever and not so obvious manner before Christmas 2008. IT IS TIME TO ABOLISH DC GOVERNMENT By: Jonathan R. Rees Dennis Moore, a write-in candidate for mayor has touched upon a point that should send a message to our DC Government officials and that is, 66% of all possible voters have sat out the primaries and general elections for the past twelve years. This means, nobody won by a majority of voters, nobody had a mandate but if anything, everybody who got elected, got a vote of NO CONFIDENCE by 66% of the people who could have voted but chose not to! While Mr. Moore gives many reasons why there is a lack of interest in our local political process, I think the real reason is a lot more complicated. Mr. Moore thinks the problem is as he states: “It should be no surprise that our rising discontent has less to do with party politics, economic status, ethnic group, ward issue, or unresolved community complaints ignored by District officials. Our discontent is deeply rooted in the serious lack of real accountability, genuine respect and effective action on the actual common needs of everyday DC residents. This discontent can be eliminated by a mayor with the genuine will, innovative leadership, and a real action plan to aggressively and always act in the best interest of District citizens first,” but I believe that those 66% he refers to sees the Government of the District of Columbia as being a joke, caretakers for Congress and put in power by special interest groups not by John Q. Public. Call me Chicken Little but I still believe that Adrian Fenty will give voters new reasons to distrust DC Government, not to want to vote and see DC Government as a joke all the more. We have tried to make things better in DC for the past twenty (20) years, get people back to the voting booth and nothing has worked, and more and more people are staying away. It is time to scrap DC Government as we know it, give control of DC back to Congress and let all agencies and their employees fall under the federal system which would stop a lot of what people complain about, make local officials more accountable and abolish DC income taxes! By doing the foregoing, you will see major business investments in DC take place, a major influx of residents because of no local income taxes and life in DC will be what we have been crying for. Abolish DC Government, give back control to Congress and you will see DC have a major economic, business and residential renaissance unmatched in history. Repairing DC Government as we know it is what is hurting all forms of growth and it is time to put this sick dog to sleep!

Bfrankdc you too are a public figure as your name is known on every blog and message board in DC so you have open yourself to ALIAS STARDOM/TROLL STATUS so who you really are is fair game!

WHY DO POLITICAL CANDIDATES HIDE FACTS ABOUT THEMSELVES? Too often, political candidates conceal from voters where they really stand on issues or facts about themselves that may impact on whether or not we will for them. Issues like abortion, gay rights and more were asked of many of the candidates and especially in the ward 3 race and Mary Cheh lied to voters big time. In this year’s primary, Mary Cheh was the most deceptive candidate running. There is no doubt that Democratic ward 3 candidate Mary Cheh lied to her supporters early on, on matters about her stance on Smart Growth and concealed other matters until after the primary win. As a possible political candidate, you could be a member of almost any organization that champions a cause: E.G. AARP, American Cancer Society or hundreds of others but Mary Cheh prior to her primary win made no mention of her involvement and/or membership that related to any gay, lesbian, bi-sexual or transgender organization whereby she came out of the closet after September 12, 2006, and created a whole new page to her website that would suggest that she is a latent homo/bi-sexual or one of her children is because why would any parent be a long time member of Parents and Friends of Lesbian and Gays (PFLAG) but no other homosexual organization? Mary Cheh is just one of six political candidates who have hidden facts about themselves from voters which would have an impact on how they will vote when such issues come up before the DC City Council. Voters had a right to know!!!!

TWENTY THOUSAND NON-PAYING POSSIBLY TAXPAYERS Recently on the WAMU KOJO Show, Kojo had ward 3 candidates Mary Cheh and Theresa Conroy on 10/27/2006, and one issue brought up was the large number of people living in DC, owning a home in DC and nowhere else, but somehow list their residence as elsewhere other than the District to avoid DC taxes. Mary Cheh said that we need to close the door on these people but I say that she needs to give back those political contributions she accepted from such people who live in the District but list themselves elsewhere. The reality is, many of these people spoken of are heavy contributors to the political campaigns of candidates now going into the November 7 general elections and there is no way people like Mary Cheh are going to take real action and risk future contributions from people she spoke of on The Kojo Show. If you comb the campaign finance forms of many of our political candidates, you will find a large number who own homes in DC but list themselves in Maryland, Virginia or elsewhere but do not have homes there but use the home of a brother, sister or uncle to avoid DC taxes. The best tax scam is, list yourself in one of the six U.S. Territories and you will be exempt from federal income tax, DC taxes and only pay a ,lower state tax sort of say in one of our US territories.

Bfrankdc, It is time for you to come out of the closet in more ways than one. Show your true face, let people know who you really are because I am not hiding who I am.

How about your unprofessional background Bfrankdc. Let's talk out you for a change. Of course, you can leave out the part about your SSI disability checks, the free computer that the United Ways paid for, your HUD housing and the free medicine you get at the WW Clinic.

It is typical of gay losers to attack their critics and we see it often that their critics are gay and hiding it. DC Voter, you and your kind are a disgarce to AMERICA and I do not want my tax dollars going to treat people with maladies that they self-inflicted with their reckless life-style. When you are single the you can look all you want as that is no crime but in your sick gay mind it is and you use it as a defense for your defenseless life-style.

DC Voter, I am not gay like you and if the law would allow me to kick the tar out of a gay like we use to be able to do in The Bronx back in the 1960's and the cops look the other way, I would be kicking all day long. I am a real man not like you.
