  1. When I first met Mary Cheh after she announced that she was joining the ranks of those who wanted to run for the ward 3 city council seat, she made it very clear that she was an anti-development type. A few months later, Mary Cheh did a complete flip flop on the issue when developers like Akridge, PN Hoffman, EastBanc and others along with their employees offered contributions and help in her efforts to win this race. Mary Cheh did what most lawyers are good at, and that is, she whored herself and sold out her values to win. Most anti-development people in ward 3 which total more people than voted for her saw how Mary Cheh had no spine or any real moral values. Now Mary Cheh faces an anti-development Republican challenger next month named Theresa Conroy and the emails from anti-development Democrats encouraging people to jump party lines and vote Conroy are circulating. I doubt that a Mary Cheh on the DC City Council will achieve much her first term if anything, as incoming council members like Jim Graham had reported that the other council members treated them like they did not exist, they got no chairmanships on any committees and their proposed legislation always seemed to be the last dealt with in their first term on the council. If history repeats itself, Mary Cheh will be no threat to anti-development types the next four years unless other members of the city council are already prepared to do what Cheh wants and then her vote will matter. Cheh's pro-development mindset as a puppet for Akridge, PN Hoffman, EastBanc and others will hurt DC more than help it, as it will drive up the cost of living in DC, drive more middle and low income earners out and it will only benefit developers but not the people of DC, as the wages offered by these various ventures are too low, just as the Nationals baseball team only offers seasonal and low paying jobs while their presence benefits only their owners, players and the DC Government but not the people of DC. My family who owns the majority control of Mohawk Industries which is the world's largest textile manufacturing concern providing carpets (Karastan-Bigelow), linens and more to almost every federal government building understood that DC was no place to operate from as the costs were double what it would be anywhere else in the USA, its local government was clearly anti-business and that is why we kept our operations in the southern USA, Caribbean and parts of Asia. A Mary Cheh mindset is one that would see your taxes go up drastically and drive out the needed blue collar work force all of Cheh's backers need to go and grow with. The one profession that has the highest rate of business failure is being a lawyer as they are nortorious for constantly making bad business decisions. While Mary Cheh is a nice person, I think ward 3 will in time regret electing her.
  2. Nobody who ran in the DC City Council Ward 3 race was really a loser if you have followed what they faced after the primary. Just the mere fact that the nine candidates dared to run drew attention of businesses and others. Bill Rice will most likely be working for Fenty as Tangherlini will bring him onboard in the office of chief of staff. Eric Goulet will be back working for Jack Evans. Erik Gaull has new contract work to keep him busy and so does Robert Gordon. Paul Strauss is already busy preparing to run in 2010 to unseat Mary Cheh, and he has a watch dog group financed by Labor that will accumulate all mistakes Cheh makes to throw in her face. As for yours truly, I re-registered as Republican and have been offered a lot from groups opposed to voting rights for the District, opposed to gay civil rights and work with conservative owned businesses. You may not win an election but the fact you tried does bring rewards. If you look hard enough, nobody who lost their bid for office really lost as most of them have been offerd jobs, contracts or the same after the fact that is just as lucrative as if they had been elected and in most cases better. Voters fail to realize that being a politician is an exclusive club where nobody really loses, all the candidates win but voters are so stupid that they fail to see that the politicians used them to gain public exposure and that exposure good or bad comes with great rewards ($$$$$$$) as somebody out there will love you no matter what side of the fence you are on, offer you work and flaunt what you offer because America is so diverse there will be followers of any type of political figures. The more you speak ill of a political figure, the more you help line her/his pockets as you are creating their popularity! In sum, while people like Bfrankdc, Truthseeker and others spent months here spewing out their hatred, they failed to realize the more they did that the more popular they made me and how that is paying off for me at the bank.
  3. Natalia1974, The answer is simple. When Congress created DC as a federal enclave, it made it clear that it was a city for people to come and work, it would not be a place treated like a state or territory and thus we all knew before we came here of the peril. Even if we had a vote it would be cancelled out by special interest groups.
  4. One of the major reasons DC Democrats seem to get nowhere is because, they are too far to the political left while the Democratic Party nationwide is moving more to the center and a bit to the political right in order to lure back lost party members. The sad truth is, after a decade of losing party members, the Democratic Party which has been divided on a series of issues with "gay rights" being one of the major issues that caused many to leave the party is now looking to a Centrist or Conservative Democrat to be our next president in 2008. Many inside DC see its Democrat Party as leaning towards a Marxist orientation and have left the party to become either an Independent or Republican, and until the DC Democratic Party changes, it will continue to lose more members.
  5. Jonathan & Mindy Rees. PO Box 214222 Washington, DC 20009 Jonathan jrrees2006@verizon.net Mindy mlrees2@verizon.net Thursday, September 28,2006 Honorable Steve Chabot House of Representatives Cannon House Office Building Washington, D.C. 20515 (202)225-3012 H.R. 5388, The "District of Columbia Voting Rights Act of 2006: Dear Congressman Chabot: Before the United States Congress gives the District of Columbia a vote or statehood, it should give such to America Somoa, Guam, Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands based upon its agreements made with them which it never made with the District of Columbia. The District of Columbia was never meant to be a state, have a congressional vote but the other U.S. possessions were in that, they were promised consideration of such when entering into alliances to the United States. The District of Columbia does not deserve a Congressional vote or statehood nor should it be given such and when people moved here, they knew this and need to move elsewhere if they want such rights. Respectfully, Jonathan R. Rees.
  6. DC Voter, DC Government probably takes more in income taxes from me than you make.
  7. In the ward 3 race, most of the voters 57% did not vote for Mary Cheh. Those who did not vote for her were anti-development types and I am hearing that a lot of them on Nov 7 will jump parties and vote for Conroy. Why? Conroy is anti-development and Cheh is heavily pro-development. Cheh us to be anti-development but changed her tune when developers like Akridge, PN Hoffman and others started backing her. It will be interesting to see how many anti-development Democrats will actually jump ship because of this one issue. Of course, the 10,000 Independents in ward 3 are to be watched in this battle and what the 9,000 Republicans do.
  8. DC Voter, I am seeking that apartment for my son and his girl but since he does not have much of a credit history, I will have to hold myself out as the tenant. I live 75% of my time in San Juan and 25% of it in DC.
  9. Bfrank, I too never saw that post but look for that woman who posted that he did and email her to find out what her source is.
  10. THE VOTERS OF DC HAVE BEEN BUYING THE SAME LIE FOR 16 YEARS! Jonathan R. Rees – jrrees2006@verizon.net Throughout the 2006, election season, all we heard from everybody running for office was how they are going to fix our schools, and the voters of DC being the politically challenged, once again bought that BIG LIE! Read > http://www.dcwatch.com/archives/election98/evans-12.htm For the past 4 election cycles, our political leaders during each election period has been campaigning on this one issue, we elect them and they never do what they promise, our schools are never fixed and voters will next election time hear the same promises but forget those same promises made over the years were never kept. To add injury to insult, every penny we have thrown at the problem has been mismanaged, misappropriated and pocketed by corrupt DC Government officials resulting in the cheating of our children out of a better education. Yes, DC is a city of politically challenged voters who always chose incompetent liars as they leaders and ignore the better qualified and more honorable ones because we are politically challenged masochists who enjoy paying taxes and not getting anything meaningful out of it. Our schools will never get fixed unless the Feds take over DC as Home Rule has been a failure!
  11. DCIST WRITER JASON LINKINS & ANTI-GAY REMARK Jason Linkins a writer for the blog DCist and the owner of his own blog DCeiver has finally shown his true anti-gay mindset in a recent article Shout At The Devil. I always suspected that you were a closet homophobe and now you have proven it.
  12. Bfrankdc, You are petty. Get a job and maybe you would not be online so much.
  13. Bfrankdc, Why is it that the way you phrase things is identical to Neo Nazi Martin Austermuhle? Read this hack > http://crackcity.blogspot.com/2006/09/meet-bloggers.html
  14. Human, Good news. The DC Board of Elections & Ethic can tell you that this past Monday, i changed political parties and became a Republican as I too am tired of the nepotism in the Democratic Party as they no longer promote or recognize merit.
  15. Bfrank, If I had more than one ISP as you do, I too coukld post under different screen name and show up under different IP addresses. It is the older trick in the book except the underwear you have had one for years.
  16. About 721 people in DC depenmd on my family for their job and future and I could make them go away with a snap of a finger. You jokers did a lousy job of investigating who I really am but those who count and you do not Aglue know who I am.
  17. Human, I knew long ago, no matter who ran for the ward 3 seat, the winner would be the person Kathy Patterson blessed as people do not judge candidates based upon their merits. The insuklt to voters is taken by political leaders who ask us to vote for someone because of friendships or favors owed and for no other reason. My run was a spoof and it was to make a point that merits of a person do not mean much anymore when it comes to our votes, looking for a job, and etcetera!
  18. Next time I'll run as a Republican.
  19. Wrong Bfrank...I do not have multiple alias. I have people using my computer. There is the difference. Of course, your pea brain still can't phantom this.
  20. I sure was and gave my votes to Gordon and Strauss in vain.
  21. Sure it does. Bfrank has multiples so why can't I?
  22. I never advocated writing in Theresa Conroy! Some joker named Luke20008 advocated that all of the people who did not vote for Mary Cheh should cross party lines and vote for Theresa Conroy so others claim.
  23. I am amazed at how stupid people really are. If you combine the wealth of all of my ward 3 rivals, I have more than they do. So when I ran my campaign and only put up $500, it should have dawned on people that I never intended to be a serious candidate but I did it to mock the corruption in our electoral process and to spoof it all. Yet, nobody caught on to what I was doing but had som many dummies running around thinking they were doing people a favor and I loved the game as it was just that, a game played by idiots who I fooled all along. I think the people of ward 3 are the dumbest people in DC as they are what others have correctly coined, educated ignoramuses. The United States Congress should never give DC a vote there, grant statehood but keep things at it was intended and that is, keep DC as a federal enclave as DC is a joke and an embarrassment to the rest of this country. The fact I fooled so many is better reason why Congress should never give DC a vote!!!
  24. In the District of Columbia, there are 428,000 adults who are eligible to register to vote but only 289,410 (32.8%) are. On September 12, 2006, of those 289,410 people who could have voted, only 103,406 (35.7%) did. The total number of adults in the District of Columbia who could have voted, only 1 of every 4.15 did. In other words, 75% of the people in DC never seem to want to vote! Thus, the winners of each race were not winners, there was no public mandate but the people showed once again how disgusted they are with DC politics, the poor choice of candidates and how they see DC Government as a joke and just a bunch of pawns on that Congressional chessboard! In sum, there were no real winners just losers because we only had losers to chose from.
  25. This will be a first for the Washington Post as even KOJO said the Post had a horrible track record.
