  1. WHY DC DOES NOT DESERVE STATEHOOD OR A VOTE IN CONGRESS The United States of America has six territories and they are: 1. American Somoa; 2. District of Columbia; 3. Guam; 4. Marianna Islands; 5. Puerto Rico; and 6. Virgin Islands. Why should the District of Columbia and not the other five get a vote in Congress or even statehood when the others are not being offered such? Why should the District of Columbia which is the only US territory that has had more exposed corruption, mismanagement and economic woes requiring a federal bail-out and/or a control board get a vote or statehood when none of the other five territories ever had such problems? The people of DC are no different than the 6,000,000 people in the other five territories except, they have done a better job of ruining their city by allowing corruption, cronyism and nepotism to flourish to the point of making most District agencies dysfunctional. The District of Columbia should only get a vote and/or statehood when Congress is prepared to offer such to all six of its territories at the same time or not at all as the District of Columbia has been an embarrassment to the rest of the USA.
  2. CROYNISM VS. COMMON SENSE This past week, mayor elect Adrian Fenty made a few proposed appointments but one is of concern and that is, Linda Singer for Attorney General. With the District Government having attorneys with vast experience why Fenty would go with a lawyer who has no trial experience, who is not a member of the DC Bar, a non-active member of the NY Bar, very little use of her law degree despite having one, headed a controversial organization that has been accused of exploiting the poor and minorities for its own gain and wrapped herself up in sleaze ball politicking this past election day when she and her husband openly fronted and campaigned outside of polling places for candidates they put up to oppose local ward 3 ANC commissioners who did not back development and more leaves any reasonable person scratching their head. Appointing such an inexperienced person as Linda Singer is, is tantamount to allowing an intern at GW Hospital to perform open heart surgery on you never having done it before. This decision by Fenty to nominate a non-member of the DC Bar and non-practicing lawyer for ten (10) years is reckless, shows his incompetence to run DC and cronyism at best if not pure political rewarding for the help on his campaign Linda Singer did, but it is also another reason why I believe Fenty will be a big failure as mayor along the lines of Sharon Pratt-Kelly as he is engaging in rewarding his supporters at the expense of appointing truly qualified people.
  3. Bfrankdc, If your saw the private email exchanges I had with Linda Singer and match up her email IP address to those IP addresses with DC_jendesign and others, then they say a lot about her and the rotten things she did to Cathy Wiss. I have accused her in her face of what I have said publicly, she did not argue the point but backed away. I stand my ground and I am not impressed and I would go down to the John Wilson Bldg and accuse her again in her face of rotten stuff she did.
  4. NOT THE SAME LINDA SINGER!
  5. Bfrankdc, The reason I am richer and more powerful than you could ever be is that you are so stupid that you just cannot envision that maybe many of my associates use the same computer/network in my office and that is why when they and I post, it comes up with the same IP address. Doing it this way Bfrankdc is the best way to confuse idiots like you as to who is really posting. This is why you can never be like me or ever have what I do because you are dumber than a bag of hammers.
  6. DC_jendesign is Linda Singer who is the wife of Joe Sterlieb. She is the owner of Ward3notes and Cheh06 list servers. These people attacked Cathy Wiss more than they ever attacked me.
  7. Wronmg Bfrankdc, I fabricated nothing as well as deleted nothing.
  8. Nelson, In your ward 3 list server, I once posted what had been posted elsewhere as it concerned several postings made by Cheh's people that originated from the PN Hoffman server to make a point about the various names and the same IP Address. Do you recall that?
  9. Let us not forget good people that the Dems do not have enough votes in either house to override a presidential veto which may come on many matters Congress tries to pass. The FAT LADY hasn't sung yet.
  10. MAYORAL CONTROL OF THE DC SCHOOLS Correct me fellow readers if I am wrong on this issue, but won’t mayor elect Adrian Fenty have to get permission from Congress to take over control of our schools and do so via an amending of our Home Rule Act? SEC. 495. [D.C. Code 31-101] The control of the public schools in the District of Columbia is vested in a Board of Education to consist of eleven elected members, three of whom are to be elected at large, and one to be elected from each of the eight school election wards established under the District of Columbia Election Act [An Act To regulate the election of delegates representing the District of Columbia to national political conventions, and for other purposes, approved August 12, 1955 (69 Stat. 699; D.C. Code 1-1301 et seq.]. The election of the members of the Board of Education shall be conducted on a nonpartisan basis and in accordance with such Act [chapter]. SEC. 303. [D.C. Code 1-205] (a) The charter set forth in title IV (including any provision of law amended by such title), except sections 401(a) and 421(a) [D.C. Code 1-221(a) and 1-241(a)], and part C of such title [Appendix to Title 11, D.C. code], may be amended by an act passed by the Council and ratified by a majority of the registered qualified electors of the District voting in the referendum held for such ratification. The Chairman of the Council shall submit all such acts to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate on the day the Board of Elections and Ethics certifies that such act was ratified by a majority of the registered qualified electors voting thereon in such referendum. ( An amendment to the charter ratified by the registered electors shall take effect upon the expiration of the 35-calendar-day period (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and days on which either House of Congress is not in session) following the date such amendment was submitted to the Congress, or upon the date prescribed by such amendment, whichever is later, unless during such 35-day period, there has been enacted into law a joint resolution, in accordance with the procedures specified in section 604 of this act [D.C. Code 1-207], disapproving such amendment. In any case in which any such joint resolution disapproving such an amendment has, within such 35-day period, passed both Houses of Congress and has been transmitted to the President, such resolution, upon becoming law subsequent to the expiration of such 35-day period, shall be deemed to have repealed such amendment, as of the date such resolution becomes law. © The Board of Elections and Ethics shall prescribe such rules as are necessary with respect to the distribution and signing of petitions and the holding of elections for ratifying amendments to title IV of this Act [District Charter] according to the procedures specified in subsection (a) [of this section]. (d) The amending procedure provided in this section may not be used to enact any law or affect any law with respect to which the Council may not enact any act, resolution, or rule under the limitations specified in sections 601, 602, and 603 [D.C. Code 1-206, 1-233, and 47-313].
  11. In February 2006, on DC Wire, this posting appears: I was emailed about the discussion in this forum. I am one of the board owners of the Ward3notes yahoo group. Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns about the Group: dc_jensign@yahoo.com As far as I know, none of the political candidates are members of the group. Of course, any and all are welcome and encouraged to join. As it is now, most of the members are friends and neighbors in the Forest Hills south to Woodley Park neighborhoods. 12. WARD3NOTES did exist as DCist wrote about it in general and somebody advised others to post their commoents there: http://www.dcist.com/archives/2006/02/22/graham_stays_in.php As this is a thread about Ward 1, might I suggest you join the conversations about Ward 3 either at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ward3dc/ or http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ward3notes/ [32] Posted by: Andrew | February 22, 2006 10:57 PM
  13. Again, Ward3notes existed until it was closed down. Ask Nelson Jacobsen if Ward3notes existed as he posted there twice. DC Jendesign and Samlongfellow were the so called moderators of that list server. How many list servers have I been accused of having but nobody can find them now? See how easy it is to create and delete something?
  14. I can match those of the owners of Cheh06 opens their list server and allow us to match up the IP addresses. When they realized that Cathy Wiss, Bill Rice and I noticed the same IP address for Anne Marie Baristow as being that of Joycemarie20008 and other matches, they closed their room, deleted their postings. Neither Nelson, Cathy, Bill or Robert will fail to tell you what they saw and how fast Cheh's people moved to cover up.
  15. MARY CHEH’S SUPPORTERS CREATED WARD3NOTE a yahoo list server where Anne-Marie Baristow, Joe Sternlieb, his wife Linda Singer and others attacked four of the ward 3 candiadates, their screen names and IP addresses from other list servers matched the alias names and postings in this specific liost server. When they were caught several months before the primary, Linda Singer who was known as DC_Jendesign closed down that list server. Then they created another yahoo list server http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cheh06/ where this time round, they would only allow Cheh's inner circle to be members. All these candidates like Gordon, Gaull, Rice and Wiss were under attack and they knew who the attackers were.
  16. Nelson matched up the posting under Cheh's manager in the Tenleytown list server to alias postings with the same IP address posted in the three list servers he control. Made nothing up.
  17. THE PEOPLE OF 8 STATES SAY NO TO SAME SEX MARRIAGE Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin have now voted NO to SAME SEX MARRIAGE. Over 40 states now have bans on same sex marriage by either a constitutional ban or law. The GLBT community thought eight years ago more states would allow same sex marriage and never dreamt that what is happening is would happen. It is backfiring on the GLBT community throughout America. The GLBT community was relying on Democratic leaders in Congress to influence their wish for the right to marry but recent surveys show that 40% of all Democrats in Congress oppose same sex marriage. [i extracted this posting from a local blog many are aware of and I have been wrongfully accused of creating which I am not even if I agree with it and its content.]
  18. I VOTED FOR MAYOR - David Kranich SCHOOL BOARD PRESIDENT - Robert Bobb DELEGATE TO THE HOUSE - Eleanor Holmes Norton COUNCIL CHAIR – VINCENT GRAY AT LARGE COUNCIL - Tony Dominguez & Marcus Skelton WARD 3 COUNCIL – Theresa Conroy U.S. STATEHOOD SENATOR – Michael Brown U.S. STATEHOOD REP – Mike Panetta ANC COMMISSIONER - Ramon Rivera (write-in)
  19. When you identify your true self Bfrankdc I will accomodate you. Short of that, I did such already in three Yahoo list servers and Nelson Jacobsen confirmed those attacks came from the PN Hoffman Server and IP address of Cheh for Council.
  20. I VOTED FOR THERESA CONROY…..WHY? 1. Mary Cheh lied to me on the issue of more development in ward 3 and she sold out to developers; 2. Mary Cheh said that gay rights was not an issue and she would not push such if elected but after the primaries, she added a page to her website promoting gay rights; and 3. Mary Cheh’s supporters were linked by IP address to many of the attacks on Paul Strauss, Robert Gordon, Cathy Wiss and I. Also, Cheh is fronting a candidate to openly oppose Cathy Wiss on her ANC bid.
  21. THE HIDDEN UNDEREMPLOYMENT IN DC Recently, we have heard in the various medias that the Metro DC job market is one of the most robust in the United States, whereby we are clearly a white collar community as if all is peachy keen in Metro DC. What this report fails to address is: 1. While Metro DC is one of the most educated areas of the USA, college grads start jobs at a lower salary when adjusted for cost of living than in most other major cities; 2. That most jobs in DC do not last very long; and 3. That most workers have a lot less, left over from their hard labor, paying taxes, high rent and other higher costs of living essentials. This issue of those plentiful jobs not paying as well, as elsewhere, the short life of jobs and all being wiped out by the high cost of living in DC seems to be a subject totally ignored by our local political leaders. Many believe that the DC worker is living high off the hog when in reality, 80% of them live high off their credit cards, credit lines and from pay check to pay check whereby if they lose their job, most would have to sell off that condo or home and move to another part of the Metro area that is a bit cheaper. So when we hear that DC is a very transient city, this may be attributable to the fact that wages vs. cost of living may be the number one factor behind this transient behavior. Of course, Washingtonians who have been in DC for 20 years or more are not affected by these factors mentioned herein as they came and settled in when costs were more reasonable and people were able to entrench themselves without going deep into debt in the process. It is time our elected leaders start focusing on matters of the pocketbook, take great action to help control the cost of living like implementing a better Rent control, rent freezes, increasing the standard deduction levels and more. It is the cost of living vs. income earned why our population went down 200,000 people since 1989.
  22. Human, It is this two faces of the Washington Post why they have been losing readers and the Washington Times has been growing. Bob Woodward is a registered Republican and so is most of its editorial board members although this may surprise people.
  23. Inside DC, the Washington Post endorses Democrats but out in the suburbs of Maryland and Virginia, the Washington Post endorses Republicans 3-1 over Democrats. Why?
  24. We are hearing around the country and even in DC this claim that the backbone of America is the FAMILY. The fact is, the FAMILY is not really the backbone of American and definitely not in DC with 70% of the adult population not being married but enjoying the single life. Thus I have to ask is being married and being a family really the backbone of America and DC in these modern times enough so to be a driving force in even DC politics to say that a city or state is any better because its population is made up of more married than single people.
