DID NELSON JACOBSEN SELL OUT LINDA CROPP?
Luke_Wilbur replied to Psycho's topic in District of Columbia Politics
That is hard for me to believe. Nelson seems like an upstanding guy. He has been promoting DC since I began working on DCpages. Can you give me the source of this rumor? -

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty: Major Bruce P. Crandall distinguished himself by extraordinary heroism as a Flight Commander in the Republic of Vietnam, while serving with Company A, 229th Assault Helicopter Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile).

Leonardo DiCaprio and Al Gore are friends. I remember seeing the two of them together at the Earth Day Festival in 2000. I still have some pictures of them here: http://www.dcpages.com/Events/Earth_Day/2000/

It sure looks that way. I think Edwards is going to benifit from Obama and Clinton mudslinging each other. He can stay on the sideline and just look pretty. But, if Al Gore wins the Oscar for best documentary who knows. Even the late great President Reagan never earned Academy Award recognition.

Sure Barbara. As long as you link back to cite this page. -
I am not happy that I smoke. It is a nasty habit that I am struggling to break away from it. When I met Al Gore he really seemed like a genuinely nice individual. I am sure he could smell the tobacco on my breath. But, he still took time to answer my questions. In fact, when a hard core activist came up to Al Gore and preached how he was spiking trees to save the planet Al Gore shook the young man's hand and said, "Young man your heart is good, but its in the wrong place." The former vice president discussed the hard life of a logger trying to feed his family. He told him to focus on getting the message out through peaceful means. In your opinion, is there truth that man is a factor in global warming?

Barbara, I am sorry for your bad experience. It has been awhile since I wrote that post. We now have a new driver named Rob. He has been fantastic for us. I think once you build a relationship with the company things do get better. A business is only as good as the people who work there. What exactly happened to you? -
Why don't like him on this planet? He seems to really care about it.

So now you are becoming an anarchist?

Say NO!! to Budget Cuts to our Veterans Soldiers
Luke_Wilbur replied to Luke_Wilbur's topic in United States Politics
I was reviewing the White House Briefing tonight and I found a disturbing discussion on how our wounded troops are being treated. I hope everyone remembers that soldiers are not political party pawns. They real flesh and blood people. -
So Bling, You have posted the dialogue from Congressional leaders about the War Resolution. Is it your opinion that more troops should or should not be sent to Iraq? Why? Here is the White House response from February 16, 2007.

I think Al Gore would be more effective joining the Green Party. He seems to share the same platform.

Andy, Your music great. Can you tell us a little more about ShamRockFest. -
Cold temperatures over the last week have allowed significant accumulations of ice and snow to remain on buildings and other exposed structures. Temperatures over the last 24 hours have rapidly warmed above freezing. Large chunks of ice and snow will have the potential to slide off buildings... and will pose a serious threat to people and property. Please be aware of this threat when walking near buildings... especially in downtown areas. Try to avoid parking your vehicle near or under tall structures to prevent property damage. In addition... many area ponds and lakes became ice covered over the last several weeks. But with the return to above freezing temperatures many of these waterways are not safe to walk or skate on. Rapidly warming temperatures will continue to make thin ice even thinner. For safety... stay off all ice covered bodies of water.

You can see the reasons why both sides of the aisle have their own opinions about the war.

I am really upset at President Bush's budget now contains funding cuts for veterans. The utter lack of compassion the Bush White House has for the soldiers it has put in harm's way is revealed by the national disgrace that is America's treatment of veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Next year, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system expects to treat 263,000 veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan, a number three times what the VA initially projected. "The number of veterans coming into the VA health care system has been rising by about 5 percent a year, as the number of people returning from Iraq with illnesses or injuries keep rising." President Bush has promised that our nation would "keep its commitments to those who have risked their lives for our freedom." "We owe them all we can give them," Bush said after a visit to Walter Reed Army Medical Center. "Not only for when they're in harm's way, but when they come home to help them adjust if they have wounds, or help them adjust after their time in service." Yet as the number of soldiers injured in Iraq continues to grow, the VA health care system is "buckling under a growing volume of disability claims and rising demand for medical attention." As of last month, the VA system was experiencing a backlog of 600,000 cases, "with about 168,000 pending for at least six months." "There are VA facilities that were fine in peacetime but are now finding themselves overwhelmed," said Steve Robinson, director of Veterans for American. Recent reporting has brought more dire news: the Washington Post discovered soldiers housed at Walter Reed face the "bleakest" of homecomings; McClatchy found the VA is "ill-equipped" to handle the increasing number of returning soldiers who need treatment for mental health; and the Associated Press revealed that the recent Bush budget contains funding cuts for veterans. (See where major veterans service organizations believe funding levels for veterans should be in their annual Independent Budget.) "Our veterans' mental and physical health is not something to play games with," the Macon Telegraph wrote recently. "They have served their country, and their country has an absolute obligation to return the favor." http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/pdf/veterans-2008.pdf http://www.dav.org/voters/independent_budget.html http://www.macon.com/mld/macon/news/opinion/16690966.htm
