  2. I have been told that America is the bread basket to the world. Agriculture is one place that will always be important. The work is quite satisfying as well.
  3. I just took a political quiz and the results classified me as a CENTRIST My PERSONAL issues Score is 60%. My ECONOMIC issues Score is 50%. CENTRISTS espouse a "middle ground" regarding government control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention and sometimes support individual freedom of choice. Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind, tend to oppose "political extremes," and emphasize what they describe as "practical" solutions to problems. I am definitely not a Statist (Big Government) Statists want government to have a great deal of power over the economy and individual behavior. They frequently doubt whether economic liberty and individual freedom are practical options in today's world. Statists tend to distrust the free market, support high taxes and centralized planning of the economy, oppose diverse lifestyles, and question the importance of civil liberties. Take the quiz and see where you are on the political map. http://www.theadvoca...uizp/index.html
  4. I like where you are going. But, a good friend of mine who is a certified doctor sent me this information. Beer contains female hormones! Yes, that's right, FEMALE hormones! Last month, Montreal University and scientists released the results of a recentanalysis that revealed the presence of female hormones in beer. Menshould take a concerned look at their beer consumption.. The theory is that beer contains female hormones (hops contain Phytoestrogens) and that by drinking enough beer, men turn into women. To test the theory, 100 men each drank 8 schooners of beer within a one (1) hour period. It was then observed that 100% of the test subjects, yes, 100% of all these men:- 1) Argued over nothing. 2) Refused to apologize when obviously wrong. 3) Gained weight. 4) Talked excessively without making sense.. 5) Became overly emotional 6) Couldn't drive. 7) Failed to think rationally, and 8) Had to sit down while urinating. No further testing was considered necessary!!
  5. Damage Control? That is the gift we give our children? How can we think such thoughts. Every thing has a price tag on it. Does every thing have to be an incentive. Companies that hire more employees should pay minimal taxes. Green tax credits should be given to all that follow energy and environmental standards. International corporations with factories in the United States should be given the same tax advantages. Can we all agree on this? Throw away income tax. Move to a sales tax system on all goods. The treasury needs to exchange Gold certificates and Silver certificates as well as dollars. We cannot go off the deep end as well. We will go bankrupt. The giving of grant money has to be more strict. Everything has to be crafted in America. We should put lower international tariffs on environmental goods. Waste components recycled more efficiently.
  6. Can't we all just get along for the best of our country? Do we need our government to go bankrupt before we start working together to get something done.
  7. The TreasuryDepartment today released U.S. reserve assets data for the latest week.As indicated in this table, U.S. reserve assets totaled $129,578million as of the end of that week, compared to $130,296 million as ofthe end of the prior week. Is the above equal to $130,296,000,000.00 That would be $130 Billion Dollars Is that all the reserve we have?
  8. I have no problem with China investing in our country, as long as they can only own less that 50% of an American business. That is what they do to us. So that would be fair. Right?
  9. There is some very interesting legislation to update the Code of the Commonwealth of Virginia. This would ammend section 18.2-54.3, relating to the unlawful implantation of human tracking devices. It would be a Class 1 misdemeanor to cause a person to have an identification/tracking device or mark implanted or permanently or semi-permanently incorporated into or on his body, skin, teeth, hair, or nails without his informed written consent, or to use an implanted device to track him without his informed written consent. Some people believe that microchips are the mark of the beast. http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?101+ful+HB53+pdf
  10. Do you think we should follow Ronald Reagan's Fed Chairman Paul Volcker's plan if President Obama supports it?
  11. Sometimes I dream that I am flying like a bird
  12. Amen. Unions, banks, and corporations for Obama. Banks, corporations, and the military for McCain. I wonder what this would be like in Roman times. Would a Senator or Leader of the Republic get stabbed to death? Would the mob or a government official be the killer? Of course, the bank would have to support the action to finance the transition team.
  13. A tax cut is a start, but it will do hardly anything to jump start the economy. I guess it takes alot of name calling to get the jobs train moving.
  14. Looks like the White House does not want to be viewed : ) Here is an example of how Photsnyth works. It meshes photos from Flickr and puts them together. It would appear from my searching that watermarks ARE NOT allowed. The photographer needs to understand this. http://photosynth.net
  15. It is doing more than that. It is creating energy independence from foreign nations. But, I am shocked that we purchasing this equipment from foreign nations. If we can put a man on the moon, I am sure we can make turbines ourselves.
  16. I was watching Youtube and saw my buddy Jason in a 1997 Kit Kat commercial. He is 35 seconds in after Tampax. Too funny. Maybe Kit Kat can do a reunion commercial. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Vjasx8PNAfE
  17. This is an interesting email that got sent to me:
  18. Fantastic web site. I love that idea. I have for years. I tried so hard to do that with Latin American countries. We were going to do a VegaDCpages.com. They did not consider me latino cause I was too white looking and could not speak fluently. Then I tried to do the same thing with a Japanese group. I was too small of a company to work with. So, I have had to do this on my own with the support of a great staff. But, I am not giving up. I never tried it with the Arab community. Maybe that is where I need to go. Tell me what you think of the new DCpages.com look. http://www.dcpages.com/test2.php
  19. The downside to this is tighter regulations are going to mean that less people will qualify for loans. Less qualifiers means that there will be less buyers for homes. Less buyers means that home prices are going to drop even more.
  20. I was calling Walmart to my friends the new "Chinamart," but after watching the sweatshop in Haiti I realized they are a modern global slave holding corporation.
  21. I have been jumping the gun on this topic. NSA was brought in to investigate how Google got attackedand how to prevent or mitigate it in the future. I think it might be best to read though the story to understand what is going on. Now if NSA and Google do have some other relationship, I am sure it will be scrutinized. Everyone has been cooped up in their homes too much with all this snow. Not enough vitamin D.
  22. These are great ideas. I would suggest that we also consider winning back American consumers with American made products.
  23. This is exactly what I was hoping would not happen. Both sides are getting more polarized by the day. We should be really scared of what is going to happen to us if we cannot fix this mess.
  24. I honestly do not think people even care. There is very little chatter on the subject.
  25. http://blog.alfranken.com/2010/02/05/the-washington-post-doggone-it-franken-doesnt-like-nbc-comcast-merger/ NBC's worst nightmare came true Thursday — the other, non-Conan nightmare — when a former NBC on-air talent/producer turned senator went off on network and Comcast suits during a Senate hearing about the proposed merger of the two media behemoths. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) wasn't buying promises being spewed by execs of the network and the country's largest cable provider that the deal will be good for you and me. "You'll have to excuse me if I don't trust these promises, and that is from experience in this business," said Franken, a member of the Senate Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights. "I worked for NBC for many years. And what I know from my previous career has given me reason to be concerned — let me rephrase that, very concerned — about the potential merger of Comcast and NBC Universal,"he said. "The media are our source of entertainment, but they're also the way we get our information about the world. So when the same company produces the programs and runs the pipes that bring us those programs, we have a reason to be nervous." Franken was a writer and a regular on NBC's "Saturday Night Live"but, more to his point, starred in and produced an NBC prime-time sitcom called "LateLine," a "Nightline" spoof that lasted for about 19episodes in the late 1990s. (Franken played a vain reporter, and Robert Foxworth played"LateLine" anchor Pearce McKenzie. And, in one of those incredible coincidences that make covering TV so meaningful, one of the best episodes guest-starred Conan O'Brien, then host of "Late Night with Conan O'Brien.") During Thursday's hearing about a proposed deal, in which Comcast would acquire majority control of General Electric-owned NBC Universal, Comcast chief executive Brian Roberts promised the distinguished subcommittee that the merger would "accelerate a truly amazing digital future for consumers" and create a "more creative and innovative company that will meet customer demands." "Our success will stimulate our competitors to be more innovative, too. So this joint venture should be good for consumers, innovation and competition," Roberts said. Seriously. Jeff Zucker, NBC Universal's chief executive, said: "Why is this transaction good for NBC Universal, for the U.S. economy and for the consumers we serve? My answer can be captured in two words: investment and innovation, both of which I believe are essential if we are toremain a vigorous competitor in the 21st-century media market and a growing source of high-wage jobs in an economy starved for employment." Franken said that similar promises were made by NBC when the networkwas involved in the early 1990s in an effort to get rid of federal regulations that prohibited broadcast networks from owning most of the programming they put on the air. The result of losing the rules, he said, was the choking of the independent TV production community. "Today, if an independent producer wants to get its show on a network's schedule, it's a routine practice for the network to demand at least part ownership of the show," Franken said. Before the senator formerly known as Stuart Smalley gave them the once-over, NBC and Comcast execs had been "grilled" on the merger at a House hearing in the morning. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), for instance, said he wanted to address"my friends at NBC," saying, "I have an opening for a constituent humorist specialist. If Conan would call my office, we could probably arrange to help you all out in any way we can possibly do that." Hethen yielded to the chairman, Rep. Rick Boucher (D-Va.), while Roberts and Zucker smirked.
