  1. Jonathan Rees has boasted all over the Internet and most recently on City Paper's blog, http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/citydes...t-released.html (http://Use Full URL address/gg58f) that he worked with the Department of Justice in a discrimination lawsuit against Daro Realty. Here's what Rees posted on City Paper's blog: Anybody can walk down to the U.S. District Court in DC and read on the computer all that has to do with the case of USA & Rees v. Daro. And what he posted on his now-deleted blog (which has been saved): I was the person who rallied up the angry residents managers, took all the evidence to the US Department of Justice and the evidence was so good that the US DOJ only took three days to decide and filed a civil rights –fair housing action suit under federal law and incorporated DC on top of it. The next result of this case was: USA & Rees v. Daro Realty, Inc. & Byron Christiansen United States District Court, District of Columbia Case# 1:90-CV-02150 & 1:90-CV-02150 Hon. Norma Holloway Johnson Now here's the really interesting part. Rees created a website, http://www.stormpages.com/g/gourdine/, in which he said he was a paralegal in US v. Daro Reality: When I first arrived in Washington, D.C., and began working in the legal industry, I got my start with a little help from Isaac Gourdine and Larry C. Williams who shared office space and through them, I grew through friends of their's in the legal community and went on to work as a paralegal in notable cases: E.G. United States of America v. Marion Barry, United States of America v. John Gotti, United States of America v. Daro Realty, Inc., and others and made a lot of friends and enemies alike. How is it possible for somebody to be both a plaintiff and a paralegal in the same case? Of course, it's not. If you research this a bit more you'll find that what Rees wrote about his so-called lawsuit against Daro Reality is a fabrication.

  3. There's a very interesting, and amusing, thread on City Paper's blog in which Jonathan Rees tries to evade answering the question: Where did you go to school? (The actual question was: "Has anyone actually figured out where Rees went to school, for instance? Rees has said NYU and he's said Columbia University, but neither appears to be true. In other forums Rees has asserted that his college records are sealed and he'll say where he went to school when the other candidates do. (This from the person who says that it's easy and okay to obtain the Verizon and Pepco records of Ward 3 residents." You can read Rees' answers yourself at http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/citydes...t-released.html or http://Use Full URL address/gg58f but here they are in his own words. Each of these quotations is a separate response to the question, where did Jonathan Rees go to school? My educational records are sealed and that is why your efforts to check me out come up blank. You want those records then disclose your real name and I will sign a written release. NYU, Columbia and the World Bank in that order but specifically the Concordia Apartments which houses World Bank employees. I just gave you the order. My education is in business management. Columbia University does not offer any degrees in business on the under graduate level just degrees in the liberal arts. Damn you people insult my intelligence. You people are as dumb as anybody I have seen and obviously never went to college or know anything about them. Let me give you dumb bastards an education. Within a university, there are colleges. Columbia Business School is the graduate school of business; A college within the Columbia University System. No go and research that. OKAY knucklehead. Go and research the fact that the Columbia Business School is a part of Columbia University. Nothing I said contradicts or is untrue and anybody who has a brain which the above poster does not knows that what I am saying is correct. The answer to your questions are: I went to school where I said I did. Has Rees become the laughing stock of Washington, DC?
  4. Here's the text of the last entry in Rees' now-deleted blog. What was he thinking? Oh, never mind. He wasn't. ----------------------- DEFENDING GLBT RIGHTS IN ACTION NOT WORDS Several of my rival candidates like I claim to be in favor of GLBT rights but none have gone to the extent that I did. Back in 1990, I together with the US Dept. of Justice locked horns with a Ward 3 property management company called Daro Realty, Inc. who owns a good number of properties along Connecticut and Wisconsin Avenues, NW. Daro Realty, Inc. made it a pattern and practice of instructing their managers not to rent apartments to African Americans, Gays and Hispanic people. I was the person who rallied up the angry residents managers, took all the evidence to the US Department of Justice and the evidence was so good that the US DOJ only took three days to decide and filed a civil rights –fair housing action suit under federal law and incorporated DC on top of it. The next result of this case was: USA & Rees v. Daro Realty, Inc. & Byron Christiansen United States District Court, District of Columbia Case# 1:90-CV-02150 & 1:90-CV-02150 Hon. Norma Holloway Johnson Daro Realty, Inc., had to quickly integrate its buildings and also offer a set number of jobs to minorities. No other Ward 3 candidate has been as active as I in defending the rights of members of the GLBT community. posted by Jonathan R. Rees @ 11:39 AM
  5. I agree with Truthseeker. The problem isn't that people don't care about the community or don't help in various ways -- like Truthseeker, I certainly do. The problem is that Jonathan Rees continues to bring this forum to new lows by his vile attacks on Martin and others, by his continual lying, and by his complete disregard for anything that smacks of the truth. It is important to point out when a candidate for office is lying. That's a commendable public duty. Indeed, if you know somebody is lying, then it is your obligation as a citizen to say something. Do we really want Jonathan Rees' statements to go unchallenged? That would be a disservice to the community. To say that character doesn't matter is simply flat wrong. We don't elect "issues." We elect individuals. In all my years I've never encountered somebody like Jonathan Rees, who has shown himself to be not only unfit for public office, but truly evil and cruel.
  6. The facts are the facts. And they not only matter, but people throughout Ward 3 (and the city) are learning about the true history and nature of Jonathan Rees. And it's not a pretty picture, as any Google search of Jonathan Rees reveals: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/columbia_heights/message/3735 http://squidpants.blogspot.com/2005/11/so-...athan-rees.html http://dceiver.blogspot.com/2006/02/does-j...f-electric.html http://profiles.yahoo.com/jrrees_1955
  7. Reality check: Jonathan Rees in his own words: http://profiles.yahoo.com/jrrees_1955 http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tenleytown/message/3154 http://www.dcist.com/archives/2005/11/28/m...ent_tonight.php ( or http://Use Full URL address/bwuse ) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/columbia_heights/message/3694 http://dcdl.org/2005/11/05/bizarre-smear-campaign-in-ward-3 Not funny at all. Rather, he's strange, disturbing and highly objectionable. These links give you a more precise picture of Jonathan Rees than does his own, revisionist blog.
  8. Well, actually people do care about the person -- the candidate. Character, honesty -- those are issues. And in Jonathan Rees' case, it's so clear that there's none of that: no honesty, no character. (And where did Rees go to school? We're still waiting for an answer.) Instead, what we get with Jonathan Rees is somebody who's crossed over the line that separates just plain strange to something a lot scarier.
  9. "Rees people" -- who? Nobody listed on Jonathan Rees' campaign website can be identified. It does appear the the emperor has no clothes: There are no Rees people, just Jonathan Rees.
  10. I just hope to get some honest answers from Rees about his background -- anything, really. Has Rees skipped voting in any District of Columbia elections? That shows ties to the community and concern for the community. Has Rees served on jury duty? Serving is every citizen's obligation. (Former felons usually can't serve, though, so not ever having been on a jury can be revealing.) Where did Rees go to school? Let's resolve the contradictions once and for all. Who is on Rees' campaign staff? The names keep shifting and nobody can seem to pin down whether or not any of these people named on his website actually exist. Where have all the early and even recent supporters of Rees' campaign gone? Names like Alex Biddy, Kathleen Roddy, Thelma Cumes, Harry Firestone, Ramon Rivera, Nicole Dixon, and others. What's Rees' job? He's been vague and contradictory on that. Let's just get some honest, direct answers.
  11. Has Jonathan Rees ever served on a jury in the District of Columbia? How many local elections has Rees not voted in? (That information would be in the public record.)
  12. Does anyone know why Jonathan Rees' posted campaign manager has changed from "Mindy Silverman Rees" to "Jason O. Rees"? See www.rees-for-citycouncil.com for more.
  13. This message was posted by "Gay Republican" this morning, and then abruptly deleted. A bunch of people did spot the message before it was deleted, so I thought I'd repost the original, deleted message for the record. (I can see why "Gay Republican" decided that this message should be pulled -- it's exceedingly weird. What group of 25 cat-loving, Albemarle-area housewives is there? Are all these women out walking their cats together? Or do they bring their cats for a get-together at Starbucks?) ---------------------------- QUOTE(Gay Republican @ Mar 21 2006, 07:26 AM) * I ran into a small group of women (25) who said they did not know that Kathy Patterson was not running again but knew Rees was and thought that Rees was her only challenger. These women live off Albemarle and make up housewives who have a love for cats. This says to me that not everybody is paying real attention that they thought Kathy’s new campaign was to seek re-election. I blame this on the media for not giving the ward races enough attention as these were very educated women.
  14. How about the simple request that Jonathan Rees say where he went to school? We're still waiting.
  15. Where did Jonathan Rees go to school? Rees deleted his resume from his website (though it's been saved and posted), which contained some of that information, but in various places on the Internet he's said either went to college at Columbia University or New York University, and also that he received his MBA from Columbia University. When pressed on this question, Rees has said that he won't reveal that information (the records are sealed, he's said) because other candidates for Ward 3 City Council won't say where they went to school. The other candidates have, in fact, said exactly where they've gone to school. Where somebody went to school is not an indication of how good a City Councilmember they'll be. But refusing to say where you went to school (and offering contradictory information about this) is an issue: It goes to the heart of a candidate's integrity, honesty, and fitness to serve. I though it would be useful to list where the candidates went to school: Mary Cheh: Rutgers University, Douglass College; J.D., Rutgers University; LL.M., Harvard University Sam Brooks: BA, Claremont McKenna College Erik Gaull, BA, Columbia University; MBA, Georgetown University Robert Gordon, BA, Cornell University; MA in Economics, State University of New York Jonathan Rees: Refuses to disclose where he went to school
  16. So where does Jonathan Rees have his campaign literature printed? On DC Pages, on January 9, 2006, Rees wrote that he has it printed in Puerto Rico: "I have had a P O Box in the 20009 zip for about 15 years as I use to live in Mt. Pleasant and yes, my campaign material is made in Puerto Rico where the printing cost is 1/5 that of DC." (http://www.dcmessageboards.com/index.php?showtopic=7296&st=20) In the February 12, 2006 issue of themail, published by DC Watch, www.dcwatch.com, Jonathan Rees said that he has his campaign literature printed in the Dominican Republic: "My political campaign consists of: 1) over 11,000 E-mail addresses to ward 3 voters, 2) mini flyers printed in the Dominican Republic at one sixth the price you would pay for them in DC, and 3) a force of Latinos who distribute them with me every day in Ward 3." So which is it, Mr. Rees? Do you have your campaign flyers printed in Puerto Rico or in the Dominican Republic? Something tells me it's neither.
  17. As we continue to point out the lies and inconsistencies in what Jonathan Rees and his aliases post here an on other forums, it's important to keep in mind the big picture: Jonathan Rees isn't and can't be a real candidate for City Council. - Virtually everything Rees has posted about his background has been proved to be a lie. - Rees has forged official documents, including a hospital identification card. - Rees has acquired dozens of aliases and continues to post under those false identities, even after it's been shown that these aliases share the same IP address. - Rees continues to post on forums where he's been banned, using these aliases. - Rees has impersonated real people to further his interests. - Rees lashes out in the most vile and horrific way at anyone who dares criticize him. I don't know what Rees' ultimate goals are, but his actions clearly show that all he wants to do is to hurt other people and prevent Ward 3 from having a decent campaign for City Council.
  18. Still unanswered are the questions about Institutional Dental Care and Rees' role there. Visit IDC's website: http://www.idcinc.com/ As I said earlier, the only thing of substance that IDC seems to do is sell toothpaste/toothbrush/dental floss/mouthwash kits for between $25 and $60. The evidence is outstandingly clear: Jonathan Rees (though posts and statements under his own name and through various aliases including DC Deep Throat) has not been telling the truth about what he does for a living. The fact that he stooped to posting on DC Pages a falsified identification card for Prince Georges County Hospital is further proof of that.
  19. That's a pretty bad forgery of a Prince George's Hospital Center ID card by Jonathan Rees. Let's count the ways: 1. There's no expiration date on the ID. 2. The font used for the word "Administrator" is different from the other fonts. 3. The orange strip that says "Jonathan Rees" is obviously covering up something else, and looks fake. 4. The orange strip partially obscures Rees' photo. 5. The card makes it look like Rees is the "Administrator" of the entire hospital, not of just the dental clinic, as Rees claims. I wonder if it's a crime to forge an ID.
  20. Why don't we ever hear from Mindy Rees, Jonathan Rees' campaign manager? You'd think that she would be on board here --or anywhere-- to defend her candidate and husband. Or could it be that there is no Mindy Silverman Rees who's running Jonathan Rees' campaign? Just asking because... ...because as far as I can tell Mindy Silverman has appeared in only one movie, the 1982 film, The Boogeyman. There's a little more about Mindy Silverman here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0798954/ As always, more questions than answers when it comes to Jonathan Rees.
  21. My point is that Jonathan Rees is not telling the truth about what he does for a living -- just as he refuses to be honest about where he went to school. (Rees has said he went to college at Columbia University and that he went to college at New York University -- which is it? He's said that he came to Washington, DC right after college at Columbia, but also said that he went to Columbia Business school after college -- both can't be true.) Rees said that he works for Institutional Dental Care. But Institutional Dental Care doesn't seem to be a real business: http://www.idcinc.com . On DC Pages ( http://www.dcmessageboards.com/index.php?showtopic=7303 ) Rees has said "I am the Business Administrator for IDC which oversees the dental program for about 18 assisted living facilities in the Metro area." But why doesn't IDC list any of their 18 clients anywhere on its website? That's certainly fishy. In fact, IDC's website says very little at all. But you can buy toothpaste and a toothbrush from IDC for $25 to $60. Rees has said elsewhere that "I am...a manager of around 22 dental clinics." That's really strange, don't you think -- to say *about* 22 dental clinics. What clinics? Rees has said "I am the administrator at PG County Hospital of its dental clinic." Uh huh. How can he be the administrator of PG County Hospital's dental clinic and be the business administrator of Institutional Dental Care? (And have so much time to post messages during business hours?) Rees has said that he's on the "board of directors of Los Gallegos Food Manufacturing Co in Puerto Rico." Prove it. My point, in short, is that it doesn’t look like Jonathan Rees has been telling us the truth about what he does.
  22. Jonathan Rees told the Northwest Current this week that he works for Institutional Dental Care, Inc. That statement raises more questions than it answers. First, Rees has also said "I am the administrator at PG County Hospital of its dental clinic" and "I am...a manager of around 22 dental clinics." (On http://www.dcist.com/archives/2006/02/13/professionalism.php ) So where exactly does Jonathan Rees work? But wait, there's more. If you Google Institutional Dental Care you get this: http://www.idcinc.com Take a moment and look at the website for Institutional Dental Care. IDC claims to provide "quality dental care to people who are unable to travel to a dental office," but nowhere is there a mention of exactly who it does this for. No client list -- nothing. If you poke around the site you find that IDC sells dental kits consisting of toothpaste and dental floss for between $25 and $60. Fishy. Very fishy.
  23. There was an amazing thread about Rees yesterday (and today) on DCist: http://www.dcist.com/archives/2006/02/13/professionalism.php Rees was asked a lot of questions, including where he works and where he went to school. Rees vaguely fudged the question about his employment history, but entirely ducked --again-- the questions about where he went to school. But even the answer that Rees gave to the work experience question was unclear and raised more questions than it answered. Here is what Rees wrote (which is taken word-for-word from other posts he's made): I work now for a dental care provider to nursing homes known as Institutional Dental Care, I am the administrator at PG County Hospital of its dental clinic and I sit on the board of directors of Los Gellegos Foods. Prior to that, I worked for 9 years for the Dutch based food giant Royal Ahold which owns Giant Foods and others. I came to DC with an offer from the World Bank to manage its housing facility known as The Concordia which is on NH & M. and I am not a dental techinician but a manager of around 22 dental clinics which is a bit up there and far far above a blogger. Rees manages "about 22 dental clinics"? I don't buy that. Also Rees' statement about his job experience doesn't jive with what he's posted on his own campaign website (again, vague as that is): Rees has over twenty (20) years experience in upper business management and government affairs. Does what Rees does for a living in any way resemble "upper business management?" And where is his "government affaris" experience? But wait! Here's part of a job application letter that Rees posted on the Internet, describing his governmental affairs experience. Does any of this make sense to anyone: My experience in the legal field has been first six years as a Litigation Paralegal, three years as a Litigation Case Manager and then as a Law Office/Legal Department Manager whereby at each position, I did what most medium to large law firms, government agencies and corporate legal departments expect of their employee in said positions. I have to offer any prospective employer over ten (10) years experience in Legal Office Management consisting of but not limited to Accounting, Customer Service, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Mailroom Operations, Meeting Planning, Policy and Procedures, Purchasing, Vendor Relations, Legal/Legislative Research and Writing, Paralegal Training, Records and Document Management, Litigation Case Management, etcetera within the corporate, government and private law firm legal environments. Also, over the past ten (10) years, I have held down part-time (evenings & weekend) work with various law firms in DC: E.G. Larry Williams & Associates, Kolp & Associates, Nath & Associates, etcetera. At the current time, I am employed by the Government of Puerto Rico as the [Office Manager for the Federal Office of Legal & Legislative Affairs] as a governor's appointee on a term basis whereby I oversee the lobbying of the federal government on all levels which most states do to obtain federal funds, affect pending legislation or to challenge legal and legislative issues as well as challenge the actions of other states and corporate activities within a state before the various administrative agencies and courts of law, but I am looking to achieve upward mobility and that is why I am submitting my Résumé. (Post at http://72.14.207.104/search?q=cache:lPouyP...us&ct=clnk&cd=1 or http://Use Full URL address/8wb9r ) Who describes their work experience as "etcetera"? Who says they worked in "Legal Office Management" doing, among other things, "Customer Service?" Maybe Rees isn't even sure of his own education and work background.
