Saying that Rees is in politics is like saying that a spammer is a businessman. Sure, a spammer is in business, but his business is scamming and deceiving people. It's worth noting how Rees' fantasies and lies have been escalating. Take this statement, posted on the Washington Post's blog (and similarly elsewhere): "Back in 1990, I together with the US Dept. of Justice locked horns with a Ward 3 property management company called Daro Realty, Inc. who owns a good number of properties along Connecticut and Wisconsin Avenues, NW. "Daro Realty, Inc. made it a pattern and practice of instructing their managers not to rent apartments to African Americans, Gays and Hispanic people. "I was the person who rallied up the angry residents managers, took all the evidence to the US Department of Justice and the evidence was so good that the US DOJ only took three days to decide and filed a civil rights -fair housing action suit under federal law and incorporated DC on top of it." But if you look at the court record, you find something dramatically different. Rees actually filed three cases against Daro Reality -- by himself and not with the US Department of Justice. In the first case, Rees sued Daro for $500 million. The case was dismissed. Rees next two cases against Daro were dismissed with prejudice. Those are the facts. And here's something quite amusing: Jonathan Rees, in a press release/email sent around town, says that Adrian Fenty stole Rees' tax plan. Here's the Rees release: Last summer, I proposed as part of my platform no new taxes, tax cuts which could be achieved by addressing the over bloated DC Government civil service system and the massive mismanagement. Tom Knott of the Wash Times wrote about it. Fenty is clueless on matters of economics, labor management and etcetera so what does he do? He takes all of my ideas and tries to pass then off as if he created them. Take a closer look at what Fenty is saying and slapping him with the name Mr. Xerox as he clearly spitted out what I have said in many circle. Call it stealing, plagiarism or what have you but I take Fenty's recent actions as an endorsement of me and my ideas but rest assured, Mr. Fenty can tell you what he wants to do but let's see if he can explain his theft of my ideas into a workable plan and that is where he will come up. Agreed. Rees has a tendency to highlight inconsequential issues, in part to deflect criticism of himself. What a great point! That's really the best way to think of Rees: Just a "crackpot candidate with a computer."

Looks like another blog has bit the dust: City Paper deleted that incredibly long and weird thread in which Rees tried to defend his odd assertion that he worked with the Department of Justice in a housing discrimination case, United States and Rees v. Daro Reality. (That's also the same blog where Rees similarly tried to explain the contradictions over where he's said he's gone to school.)

Just because somebody posts a message on a listserve, that doesn't mean that the listserve has endorsed a particular candidate. If that were true, what would it say about who DC Pages is supporting for Ward 3 City Council?

Just pointing out who he really is. Let's see: Since we know that Rees lied about being part of a Department of Justice lawsuit and sting against Daro Reality, what else is lurking in that list of Rees' lawsuits? Jonathan Rees obviously prefers that his past remains hidden. But the public has a right to know about the real Jonathan Rees. And since Jonathan Rees won't even say where he went to school, its up to enterprising reporters, bloggers and just ordinary citizens to reveal the man behind the curtain. What else is Rees hiding from the voters?

But the truth of the matter is that Rees completely lied when he posted: USA & Rees v. Daro Realty, Inc. & Byron Christiansen United States District Court, District of Columbia Case# 1:90-CV-02150 & 1:90-CV-02150 He made it up. He fabricated it. He created a fantasy case. Rees' posts about Daro Reality are a figment of his imagination. They have no basis in reality. How many different ways can it be said: Rees told a big lie when he posted about Daro Reality. Rees' weak evasions can't change the reality of his false statements.
