  1. Here is a health care reality. It has been several months now that I have been trying to get disability services for Joe since he moved from Maryland to the District of Columbia. He has now given the same identification information to three separate agencies within the government. This a waste of time and money. The District of Columbia government should be able to access Joe's information from his DC identification card. Unfortunately they are not allowed to share information. Joe's eligibility service coordinator stated this has to do with the Health Information Act. He used the example of a person with AIDS would not want to share his/her condition if he/she was applying to gain admittance to a group home. I feel so helpless helping Joe through this bureaucratic process. Joe's coordinator stated it is worse in other cities, where a disabled person is forced to go on the Internet and fill out an eligibility form. That is a sick joke. In addition, Joe's DDS service coordinator stated that DC cannot access Joe's records in Maryland due to the Health Information Act. Even when Joe and I signed a personal information release. This means that the District has to use copies of information that we have to prove that he is disabled. It is quite apparent after speaking with him. Once they obtain all this information that is already stored in Montgomery County then they will deem whether Joe was disabled before the age of 18. Then once this is done he will be scheduled to take a medical evaluation by a District of Columbia physician to see whether Joe is disabled. We need to streamline information, so agencies can share information if the consent is given. The Police, FBI, and Homeland Security already do it. Why can't health care agencies. So much time is being taken to do this inefficient process. Money is being wasted by Joe, DC, and I to make this happen. At this point DC has dropped his medicaid until his disability issue is resolved. Joe is now not able to get his prescribed drugs. He has gone through withdrawal symptoms that includes excessive vomiting. Any help would be appreciated. 3. Senator Kennedy would have been a great mediator with Health Care tort reform. He would have been great debating this issue. I personally believe that he would have negotiated putting a cap on non-economic damages in medical liability cases. The United States is sue crazy. There should be sliding scales put on punative damages based on the current value of the dollar. Placing a percentage gap would allow more doctors to practice Preventive Health Care without the fear of losing everything in a malpractice lawsuit. I am with Republicans on this issue. I also agree that our country cannot afford to pay for everyone. We need to make sure that children, young adults, expectant mothers, and those are in life-ending trauma get medicines they deserve. We need to come into agreement with low cost drugs. We need to let people legally puchase drugs from Canada and Mexico. The FDA can select the companies. I am sure the awarded companies would pay a tariff fee. Everyone agrees that we should not have death panels or force living wills on people. No one wants to touch Medicare, but the government needs to adjust payments to seniors and the disable with the cost of living. I also like the idea of the government investing more dollars in American drug companies. We should be better prepared to fight this flu pandemic. With climate change we will see more insect life, bacteria and virus growth. We failed in New Orleans. We are currently failing with vaccines. Cooperatives sound good to me. What really is the problem here?
  4. I just hope that our government leaders are coming up with a plan to take care of all the people that are now without jobs throughout our country. Unemployment raises stress levels, lowers nutritional intake, and leaves families without money to pay for health insurance. Driving America's heartland has shown me the poverty people are going through. I thank God I have insurance and a job.
  5. From what President Obama stated in Montana only the households that make $250,000 per year will be taxed. Here is a guestimate of what it will cost those households. Roughly one in 50 households will take in more than $250,000. President Obama stated that these household will have to pay the 30 billion dollars over 10 years to make this program happen. There is approximately 116 million households. 30,000,000,000 divided by 116,000,000 = $258.00 if all households payed equally into it. 116,000,000 diveded by 50 = 2,320,000 households will be affected by this plan. The 2,320,000 can expect to pay roughly $13,000 over 10 years. So, if you make a combined income of over $250,000 expect to pay roughly $1,300 per year for the new healthcare system.
  6. I just hope Judge Sotomayor is fair in her decisions. Being half Spanish, I like seeing Latin Americans take higher leadership positions in our government.
  7. A friend of mine mentioned something simular. He was concerned that our government would run healthcare like it runs the post office. I would agree on some points to that argument. Just seeing how the DC and Maryland governments treat my disabled friend right now with his special needs makes me worry. Local governments are not allowed to communicate with each other on medical history. So, my disabled friend has had to go through a 5 month process to get his benifits. And he still has none and cannot get his medicine. I think what they are doing is criminal. On the other side of the coin, my mother and father had government health insurance and it was great. I also hate the limitations that my family insurance coverage puts on doctor and dental visits. Once I am over the limit I have to pay the entire bill. In my opinion, for the amount of money I am paying monthly insurance companies should offer more. They make way too much money. I think the profits they make is criminal. I like the idea of people getting the option of joining a large pool of discounted coverage. I am not sure that I want our government to manage it. I also like putting stiffer regulations on the insurance companies. No one should be denied medical coverage at a reasonable price.
  8. I wrote a letter to the President to hopefully end this debate. I received a confirmation message: Hopefully someone in his staff will read it.
  9. I found an old Stockholder Certificate from the Bank of Boston.

  11. I just got a java popup on internet explorer. that takes my browser to: http://info.yahoo.co...tbeula-282.html Can someone please explain what this actually means in plainspeak? I am sure many people would be thankful.
  12. I wonder if people even know what is going on here?
  13. Joe never received letter from the District. After calling Alice Anderson 41 times he came over to me upset that she will not answer his calls. I decided to use my contact: Michelle Hawkins Community Outreach Specialist Intake and Eligibility Unit 202.730-1813 Michelle was very pleasant and gave me the number of his new case worker. Irban Scott 202.730-1807
  14. For the record, the President has consistently said that if you like your insurance plan, your doctor, or both, you will be able to keep them. He has even proposed eight consumer protections relating specifically to the health insurance industry. No Discrimination for Pre-Existing Conditions Insurance companies will be prohibited from refusing you coverage because of your medical history. No Exorbitant Out-of-Pocket Expenses, Deductibles or Co-Pays Insurance companies will have to abide by yearly caps on how much they can charge for out-of-pocket expenses. No Cost-Sharing for Preventive Care Insurance companies must fully cover, without charge, regular checkups and tests that help you prevent illness, such as mammograms or eye and foot exams for diabetics. No Dropping of Coverage for Seriously Ill Insurance companies will be prohibited from dropping or watering down insurance coverage for those who become seriously ill. No Gender Discrimination Insurance companies will be prohibited from charging you more because of your gender. No Annual or Lifetime Caps on Coverage Insurance companies will be prevented from placing annual or lifetime caps on the coverage you receive. Extended Coverage for Young Adults Children would continue to be eligible for family coverage through the age of 26. Guaranteed Insurance Renewal Insurance companies will be required to renew any policy as long as the policyholder pays their premium in full. Insurance companies won't be allowed to refuse renewal because someone became sick.

  18. I think the government should consider doing a "Green Loan Program" like the "Cash for Clunkers." At least we will no where the money is going. Consumers want to purchase goods, but they need financial assistance, because they have no money. This time only benefit American companies. The "Cash for Clunkers" allowed people to purchase foreign cars. We do not want people to purchase foreign made goods. It defeats the whole purpose.
  19. This is a great post.
  20. As a parent I would like to understand why Thimerosal is going to be in the H1N1 vaccine? The preservative Thimerosal was taken out of childhood vaccines because of a fear of causing autism. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius responds to parents' concerns about its use in test batches of the H1N1 vaccine. Thimerosal in Vaccines Thimerosal is a mercury-containing organic compound (an organomercurial). Since the 1930s, it has been widely used as a preservative in a number of biological and drug products, including many vaccines, to help prevent potentially life threatening contamination with harmful microbes. Over the past several years, because of an increasing awareness of the theoretical potential for neurotoxicity of even low levels of organomercurials and because of the increased number of thimerosal containing vaccines that had been added to the infant immunization schedule, concerns about the use of thimerosal in vaccines and other products have been raised. Indeed, because of these concerns, the Food and Drug Administration has worked with, and continues to work with, vaccine manufacturers to reduce or eliminate thimerosal from vaccines.
  21. I actually think there are many networks. People want to do business with people that have the same amount of cash flow. Sales people qualify you every day. Why is this different?
  22. I understand that American cars more than 12 years old account for only 25 percent of the miles driven in the United States, yet they produce roughly 75 percent of all automobile-born pollution, including greenhouse gasses and low-level pollutants like ozone and fine particulates that wreak havoc on the lungs of urban dwellers. So, I see the Eco benifit. The only problem I see is with this Cash for Clunker bill is that you can purchase foreign cars????? I went to Ford Darcars and they tried to sell me a KIA. Ahem... KIA is made in KOREA. Not in the USA!!!!!! Under the Department of Energy the Accelerated Retirement of Inefficient Vehicles Program you can trade in for a domestic or a foreign vehicle. How are we ever going to get our money back from GM or Dodge?????? How much money do those car companies owe us????
  23. 500 Billion U.S. Dollars to Foreign Central Banks? Liquidity Swaps to New Zealanders? Is the Federal Reserve is the Central Bank of the World? Who Owns it?
  24. Big Gates no longer cares about the program I am using. I want an alternative to Google Chrome and Firefox. There was a balance in the force.
  25. It is interesting to note that the District of Columbia agencies do not share information in one database or contact each other when information is needed. We already gave this Information to the DC DMV, DC DHS, Eckington Service Center. That is why the disabled fall through the cracks to get money that was already granted. Will nationalized Healthcare be the same way. http://www.dcmessageboards.com/Montgomery-...tri-t16714.html
