I am sure Yusuf Estes would not have cited Dr. Ehrman if he listened to his statement on the Qur'an? The Truth as I see it was that the Torah, Gospels, and Qur'an were orally transmitted before they were written down in text. From what I read first Qur'an was canonized by Uthman ibn Affan around 653-656 AD. That is 40 to 46 years after Gabriel came to the Prophet Mohammed reciting to him the first verses of the Sura Iqra (al-`Alaq). The Prophet Mohammed died in 632. At the very least the Qur'an was orally transmitted for 21-26 years. This is third time I have asked this question. Why do Muslims believe Jews think Ezra is the Son of God?
