I have tried several extension systems but I have never tried the lacing system, I don't know enough about it to comment and I refuse to give false information. My advice, find a specialist not a jack of all trades, I know it seems convenient to one stop shop is what I call it, and please don't get me wrong there are several extensionist who are well versed in several area's but personally when it comes to advanced extension services I want a specialist who concentrate on their craft and ALWAYS try to perfect it more. There is not enough hours in a day to perfect every system (for busy people anyway), PLEASE find an extentionist who specialize in lacing and ask questions. Thank You Valencia

Hello, Kristin, As long as you purchase 100% human hair that matches your hair texture you treat it as if it is your own. It is to your advantage believe it or not if you have slow growing hair because you will need less touch-up's, and as long as you care for your hair properly there is no breakage, BUT no matter what I don't recommend leaving the system in for more than 4 months even with slow growing hair. Please keep in mind, our hair sheds on a daily basis so with fusion or braids well any extension service the hair that sheds is trapped and need to be released eventually. I hope this helps, Thank You Valencia

Hello Kristin, I tell my clients to concentrate on THEIR hair and not the extensions. For example, if you have a problem with dryness and/or breakage you want to buy a moisturizing shampoo and deep conditioner, it shouldn't matter what products you use if the fusion bonds are good quality. Fusion bonds of poor quality may require special products, or can't handle certain oils or oil based products. PLEASE ask questions before hand so you are sure what you are getting yourself into. Thank You for your response Valencia

Hello Kia, I am sorry you had a bad experiance. Sometimes when manufactured pre-tipped hair is used the hair is not secure, that is why I make my own. My standard system is the hot glue gun method but some clients (maybe 5%) have a problem with shedding, that is when I use the pre-tipped system, when I pre-tip the hair myself it insure's each hair strand is embedded in the fusion bond and there are no air pockets so there is minumum shedding and they don't slip. I then fuse the hair using a heat clamp. The reason I don't use that system as my standard is because preparing the hair is very time consumming and is not required for the majority, also the client has to supply the hair far in advance to allow time for proper preparation which I do on my down time and I don't have alot of that but somehow I find the time. Another thing, the system last about four months not six to a year leaving it in too long can cause damage, the strongest part of a hair strand is close to the scalp, that is where the extension is applied as the hair grows it weakens because of wear and tear and chemicals so you want the extentions as close to your scalp as possible, leaving the extensions in the hair for even six months is not good because the bond is about 1/2 inch away from the scalp due to hair growth which means it is now weighing the hair down. Since it has only been two weeks I suggest you go back to your stylist so that she can fix the problem, I'm thinking she got a bad batch of hair, it happens. I hope this helps Thank You for your response Valencia

ATENTION LADIES!!!!!!!!!!! VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYONE PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First I want to thank Belle for the wonderful comments but I can only take half the credit. Because of your dedication and because you followed my instructions to the letter you are a happy client. I am only as good as my clientele, it is a partnership so I want to give you the credit that YOU deserve again THANK YOU. It is so important to know that when you get fusion it is a commitment. Yes you can treat it like your hair but it takes work to maintain it. Please follow your extensionist instructions to the letter I allways say it is not damaging WITH PROPER CARE!! that is where you come in. I had a client come in to have her fusion removed so she could have her chemical service done by her stylist and it was time, afterwards she was to come back to me to redo her fusion, I noticed her hair was matted and I asked why? I also asked if she ran her fingers through her hair daily as instructed (she is wearing curly fusion) that prevents matting, she said when she works out she sweats , is too tired and don't allways feel like it. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE again THIS IS A COMMITMENT to your hair, needless to say she emailed me and told me that the fusion took her hair out of course. Please don't get me wrong, she is a great girl and I loved having her as a client, I am only posting this to help others understand that as beautiful as fusion is it takes work, I also wear curly fusion (and I do my own) I have yet to experiance breakage but I WORK HARD because I cherish my hair and refuse to look bad when my clients come in for their consultation I feel we should always lead by example. It is important to consider your lifestyle and the time that you have to devote to your hair. When determining whether to go straight, curly or having the service done at all, your extensionist/ stylist should go over this with you during your consultation, but you need to have an idea how much time you have or willing to spend on maintanace. I must say as a whole I have a great clientele, and get minimum complaints but when I do get a complaint I use it to further educate you. The clients that follow my instructions are a very happy bunch and I want to keep it that way, so please consider all factors before going to anyone to have any extension service done and if you feel or think you can't commit PLEASE RECONSIDER HAVING THE SERVICE DONE. It is so important to me that you go into this with realistic expectations, and I promise to continue to post and keep you informed. That means I may not always say what people want to hear but at least you know I'm honest. Thank You Valencia

Hello! I'm from London and just joined this message board. I am about to do some modelling for a hair salon and they want to do Micro bonding/fusion to my hair. My hair is shoulder length and pressed (my hair has never been permed/texturised). I am worried of any negative effects it will have on my hair during wearing the extentions and after being taken out, please can you let me kno if there are any effects eg dry/split ends, hair loss when removing or during wear etc. I'v been told by other people thats its bad for my hair but just wanted a professional opinion. Thanks x-x-x-x What a lucky girl, You are in the right country to have the service done Europeans have been doing this method LONG before Americans but I'm sure you will run into some of the same problems that we do, again ask questions during the consultation, make sure they demostrate how they plan to remove the fusion, refusal to do this means there is something to hide I even give my clients a sample strand (by request) to test at home for example they can wash apply oil and any product that they use at home to prove all my claims. If applied and removed properly there is no damage as a matter of fact it should promote hair growth because you can take care of your hair while the system is in place. I hope this helps Thank You for your response Valencia

First I want to say Shawill please don't take this personal, but I when I started this topic my motive was to educate women that want to have the service done and to make sure they are armed with the proper information. I DON'T recommend anyone without proper training to try to do it at home because you have no idea how to fix a problem (AND THEY DO HAPPEN) just like any service, and without proper training you could make it worse, why take that chance? leave the ADVANCE extesions to the pro's, I have soooo many customers that think they can mimic the service but have problems and that is because there are subltle things that we are taught that you are unaware of. You will save money, time and loss of hair if you bite the bullet and have it done right or get the proper hand on hands training. (I have other talents but I have 20 years in the hair business) P.S. There is a product called temple balm that is wonderful for hairline breakage you will find it at your beauty supply store, try it and I promise you will thank me. Thank You Valencia

I also wore micro-braids before graduating to fusion. It took me 19 hours to do it because I insisted my braids be as thin as a strand of hair. Now it only takes about 4 hours to do my own fusion. Prices vary from state to state, I charge a flat fee of $400. because I adore my clients and I want to make sure it is affordable to anyone that wants it, who says celebrities deserve all the perks You can use any type of HUMAN hair PLEASE NO SYNTHETIC. My clients supply their hair, that keeps my cost low. Make sure you choose someone that knows what they are doing, use your instincts make sure you do a consultation, and ask to see samples. You can email me at hairbyvalencia@yahoo.com with a contact number to further discuss this matter I don't mind paying for the call Thank you for your response Valencia

what methods are used for strand by strand? Will it damage your hair? What type of hair(weave) is best to get to use for black hair Fusion is the method of connecting very small sections of extension hair to your hair with heated fusion bond or small clamps, the reason it is called strand by strand is because the sections are so tiny aprox 10-15 strands of hair. The type of weave best for your hair depends on your hair, factors to consider: length, strength, & thickness to name a few, I find fusion to be one of the most undetectable. Fusion will not damage your hair if taken care of and removed properly, PLEASE be sure to get full maintenance instructions and schedule a consultation before having the service done. Thank You for your response Valencia

Thank You for your response Agape Hair Co. You are exactly right I have had several customers who try to remove the system themselves even after I have told them that I will do it for them or give them a lesson on how to do it, the good thing is that they called me before they did any real damage to their hair. This is why it is so great to have tools like this message board, LADIES PLEASE ask questions and do your research before having any service done. Thank You Valencia

TO MY FELLOW STYLIST I love and respect you all, but I have a bone to pick with some of you (AND YOU WILL KNOW WHO YOU ARE) Why not concentrate on the many reasons a client should use your products and/or services instead of why they should not use others? We all know that every technic doesn't work for everyone IT IS SO GREAT TO HAVE CHOICES. Please don't post negative things about a service because you don't offer it , had a bad experiance with it, or have clients that have had a bad experiance. I have found that for every one bad experiance there are 100 success stories, (anyone in the business long enough will agree) and for every reason you give not to use a product or service there are many stylist and clients with reasons why they should, who would you rather consult: the person that waste time with negativity or the positive professonal who will help fix the problem. I have run accross my share of products that I dislike, I just don't use them or recommend them, and I know people who use nothing but those products and love them, they have their reasons and I have mine and you know what? We are both correct. Some of the most sucessful companies concentrate on customer service. Personally when I choose a service or product I am selfish. If I am going to spend my money I want to know how you are going to benefit ME? What are you going to do to make ME more beautiful? And if a mistake was made using another product and/or service I need to know that you can fix it for ME. For every problem there is a solution and it is so easy to say negative things about a problem that we don't have a fix for, but it takes an expert to find and execute the fix. Why not concentrate on customer service and not customer dollars. Thank You Valencia

WARNING LADIES!! NEGATIVE HAIR FUSION CLAIMS Hello Again Everyone....... Whenever I do research on hair extensions I am disapointed with the amount of negative information out there, for example one site stated that in 17 years they have yet to see a patron who has not experianced hair breakage do to fusion....I GUESS THAT IS BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER USED THEIR SERVICES...... But what didn't suprise me is they offered no explantion why they thought the fusion caused the breakage. They only offer the sew in method which is great for some people but not everyone. For example my hair is very thin therefore the sew in method feels bulky and heavy to me, but there are ladies with thicker hair that have two or three tracks sewn in and love it. There is another site that claims some fusion glue tends to get mushy I think was the word they used, well I don't know if that is true I only know I have never used that product and if I had I would just stop using it. I not only offer hair extension services, I am also a customer, I refuse to give advice about something that I have not worn and tested MYSELF along with feedback from my clients. Experiance is the best teacher and a stylist can only respond to what the client tell them. Hair breakage can be cause by a number of things improper care of your extensions is one but also chemicals, medications, allergies, stress to name a few. We have no idea what the client does when they get home other than what we are told, for example I had a client who thought her hair extentions was causing her breakage so I removed them only to find out that she was allergic to a chemical in her hair color, but because the services were done so close together she assumed it was her extensions, needless to say she had the service done again and has enjoyed them for the past three years (using a rinse instead of permanent color). Please use testimonials and recommendations as a guide and not law because we are all individuals, make sure the stylist you choose treats you accordingly. Please remember there is not a hair service out there that is safe from hair breakage claims, My Advice is ask questions, anything that comes to mind, write them down if you have to, ask yourself Why do I want this service? What are my goals? (thickness, highlights, hair growth) And if your stylist is like me and offer only fusion ask if they have qualified back-up stylist, comfortable working with fusion to perform your bi-weekly services if you don't do them yourself. I hope this helps and stop at least some of the confusion. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS VALENCIA
