Luke, according to the moderator IP tool, it is actually: dialup-4.249.111.217.Dial1.Washington2.Level3.net It is a Washington based dial-up connection. -
Coincidence? I think not. It appears that our fine candidate has worked for Terry Kolp. I would also add that the credentials listed in this are not even close to those listed on Mr. Rees's website: http://www.angelfire.com/dc2/jrrees1955/ Jonathan R. Rees P.O. Box 21422 Washington, DC 20009 202-316-3984 jrrees1955@yahoo.com Position Sought: Salary Sought: Law Office Manager $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 Per Year Litigation Case Manager (or) Senior Paralegal Dear Counselor: I am now seeking to make a career change to a small or medium size law firm or corporate law department and be employed by lawyers who can easily see the raw talent I have to offer and want to bring such to their arsenal and benefit. My experience in the legal field has been first six years as a Litigation Paralegal, three years as a Litigation Case Manager and then as a Law Office/Legal Department Manager whereby at each position, I did what most medium to large law firms, government agencies and corporate legal departments expect of their employee in said positions. DC Council Says No to Professional Baseball
bfrankdc replied to Luke_Wilbur's topic in District of Columbia Politics
I too was an Orioles fan going back to the great teams of the late 1970's early 1980's. The moment the Nats played their first home game at RFK, I was hooked (even though I couldn't hear or watch most of the games). I hope that MLB accepts the deal approved by the council (so am not sure where the pessimism is coming from, unless something was announced in the past hour). I couldn't agree with you more that most on the Council do not and did not understand or embrace the economic and civic benefit to MLBs presence inside the city borders. That said, the Council, MLB and Peter Angelos can all go to a warmer climate over the way this whole affair has been handled. -

For anyone interested, here is the link to the definitions for the Hatch Act: http://www.osc.gov/ha_fed.htm I am curious as to when being an ANC Commissioner became a paid position, much less one funded by the Federal Government. So does this mean that Robert Gordon (whom "John Q. Public" supports -- the same John Q Public who posted fropm the same IP address as the originator of this thread) is also in violation because of his support from Jerry Levine? What about Concilman Kwame Brown, who is working on the Cropp for Mayor campaign? I wonder when the rants against those candidates will start? I should also add that the prospect of an MPD Officer working on the Rees campaign would actually be a violation of the Hatch Act, if that were true. However, since the IP Address and syntax of "DC Police Officer Magana" match a certain Ward 3 candidate, I think that the impersonation of a Police Officer is the more appropriate violation. B. Sam Brook\'s Campaign Is Riddled With Dishonesty
bfrankdc replied to Perry's topic in District of Columbia Politics
I would add that certain other Ward 3 Candidates have ANC Commissioners working with and for them. I suspect this is business as usual throughout the city, and the country. I agree however, it is the disregard for the rules of the blog owner that show part of the true colors of the candidate. B. Frank -
Sam Brook\'s Campaign Is Riddled With Dishonesty
bfrankdc replied to Perry's topic in District of Columbia Politics
A member of a blog throws in the towel on Mr. Rees, and reiterates the ban on his publication, and yet, a certain political candidate just continues to flaunt the ban imposed on him (note the tell-tale slashes which appear due to an error when using a proxy IP server): http://www.dcist.com/archives/2006/02/05/p...sly_on_d_43.php Subject: ANC Commissioner Tamela Gordon, Sam Brooks & The Hatch Act U.S. Office of Special Counsel, United States Attorney, DC Wilma Lewis, Chair DC Board of Elections & Ethics Since Tamela Gordon is a standing ANC Commissioner, the Chairman of Sam Brooks for City Council and was involved in the soliciting of the $28k he claims to have gotten not in violation of \"The Hatch Act\"? With your pull, is there anything you can do to get the DC BOEE, DC OCF, Attorney General and etcetera to investigate or audit their affairs? This kid is spending his political contributions on himself: E.g. His rent, food, booze and you name it but not on actual political campaigning. The records of the OCF list Tamela Gordon a standing ANC commissioner as chairman of Sam Brooks for City Council from back in September when he first filed with the OCF. Tamela Gordon is an elected official, suppose to be non-partisan and so on and her behavior stinks of a violation of the \"Hatch Act\". Martin, I for one, cannot believe someone would stoop as low as Mr. Rees and his alter egos have in this whole affair. The baseless allegations made against you, and made public (via emails and forum posts) is infact a serious smear campaign -- Certainly not one that befits a serious political candidate to a respected member of the Fourth Estate. I hope that your personal and professional standing has not been affected too badly by this. On the otherhand, one click through this forum (and corresponding links) will be enough to see what we are all dealing with. I will miss your balanced reasoning here, but hope that you will follow things from a distance, and be able to comment on them at a later date. I'll continue to follow DCist, as I think it is an excellent blog (and the one good thing to come of all of this from my standpoint, is the discovery of DCist!). I can't wait to see what happens when Mark Plotkin, Tom Sherwood, The Washington Times, The Washington Post, The In-Towner and The City Paper challenge our esteemed Candidate. B. Frank

Sam Brook\'s Campaign Is Riddled With Dishonesty
bfrankdc replied to Perry's topic in District of Columbia Politics
Perry/Rees, What is your fixation on Brooks? No one here cares about him. You allege a consipracy between him and DCist Martin, yet have failed to prove any exists. Ms. Gordon has already posted on the Ward3DC Yahoo Group countering you lies. I have pasted that post in a different thread on these boards. I would venture that there is no lie or dishonesty in the statements you are making abour Brooks. I seem to recall a thread on the same Yahoo Group about the alleged falsification of Brooks's fundraising efforts and laughed out loud when the January 31 filings were made public showing that Brooks' website not only was accurate, but infact he had raised almost double what was mentioned at the time. Please, if you are going to allege lies, provide links and proof. I will also note that you are posting from the same IP address as: "John Q. Public" "NikkiDix" "JRR" "missgloverpark" aka "Leona Gomez" "Jason Rees" B. Frank -
The logic behind this is telling, particularly coming from a guy who postede as "James Ray Smith" (yes I have the posts here and at DCist on file, as well as the profile from said Yahoo ID. I also note the various offensive posts at various Yahoo Groups which are now undeleteable. The record, including the IP address of those posts is convincing. B. Frank
-
Rees, Please point to a place where I said you were not married. Please demonstrate where anything I have posted is a lie. I have already done this a number of times about you and your posts. How are those 0, I mean two I mean three kids (are they 30, 25 and 16, or are they twins and a younger one?) B. Frank
-
Matt/Rees, Its so amazing that you are posting from the same IP as "Jason Rees" and "missgloverpark". I can assure you that Martin has no idea who I am. I have never had a correspondance with him, so I know you are lying about much of the rest of what you say in your post. With respect to the "smear campaign"...I have asked you a number of times to demonstrate where anything I have ever posted is a lie. All of my posts are links as proof of my information, or generally factual posts to counter your lies and half-truths. If you were to tell the truth and make cohesive, logical arguments, you probably wouldn't hear from me. You have never responded to any of my posts with actual proof of any of your claims. The fact that you continue to use a proxy IP address, post under aliases, and generally tell massive lies, spread via email (your claim) and posted throughout the internet (proveable) tells me that this behavior won't change. A "smear campaign" would mean that I am on the offensive posting things about you here and elsewhere. This just isn't the case. What lies and fraud have I made. Please point to ONE place where anything I have said/posted is a lie or fraudulent. On the otherhand, I can point to a few things JUST IN THIS POST which are lies and fraudulant. I can't wait to hear from MPD about the impersonation of an MPD Officer investigation. B. Frank

Factchecker & Bfrank Need To Stop Their Lies
bfrankdc replied to Fact's topic in District of Columbia Politics
Human, You will notice that I have started a grand whopping total of I think three threads on these message boards. Two of them several months after I discovered them. The overwhelming majority of my posts dispell half-truths and lies that Mr. Rees and his aliases (as proven by the IP addresses I have cited here and linked to at Yahoo) have made. Mr. Rees has impersonated many individuals including an MPD Officer, the head of the DC Dental Society and a sitting Councilperson. Mr. Rees has been caught spamming many blogs and listserves against the wishes of the owners of those boards. He has subsequently been banned from several Yahoo Groups, Craigs List, DCist and others. I am curious as to what programs or initiatives Mr. Rees has stated that would make you want to support him politically? All I have seen are unsubstantiated personal information and half-baked rants. Nothing that goes to the core of the political candidate, nor any concrete plans. For what it is worth, I think it is too early to make decisions on any of the candidates in a postive manner because there are probably more names that will be added to the slate. However, where Mr. Rees is concerned, I think the overwhelming evidence speaks to the suitability, or lackthereof, for the Council position. B. Frank -
The Media Has Spoken Well About Rees Not Brooks
bfrankdc replied to Fact's topic in District of Columbia Politics
I said it before and I'll say it again. You are the only one who ever brings up Brooks. You constantly refer to him as your rival, etc. No one on this or any other message board has spoken about any of the candidates (until the post yesterday from the Mary Cheh supporter). Of course, now that there is a public record of lies and distoritions on the part of one of the candidates (Rees), the truth to the reporting public and thus the general public will be revealed. However, since you are running a stealth campaign for under $500 which is going to be predicated on SPAMMING the residents of Ward 3, and plan on shunning the public appearances at debates and forums, I guess it won't matter. B. Frank -
Factchecker & Bfrank Need To Stop Their Lies
bfrankdc replied to Fact's topic in District of Columbia Politics
I guess someone will have to post screen shots of the pages in question before you had deleted it. I saw it there when factchecker2 posted it, but now notice it is gone. By the way, way are you posting from the same IP ad "Pam" and "NikkiDix"...the proxy IP from Dallas? Finally, please cite (with links) lies that I have made. B. Frank -
Golden Girl, If you go through the various archives here and at DCist, you will see claims of two children, and three children. Sometimes the children are different ages, and other times there is a younger son and older twin girls. As for the wife, there is either none, one, or an ex and a current. B. Frank

REES HAS WITHDRAWN FROM THE WARD 3 RACE
bfrankdc replied to DC Big Snitch's topic in District of Columbia Politics
From today's "themail" courtesy of DC Watch: ############### Anatomy of a Political Campaign Jonathan R. Rees, jrrees@peoplepc.com Coca Cola said it would never give away its' secret formula but I will on what I believe will in time prove to be a trend in DC political campaigning. If you were a political candidate running for city council how much money would you need? Maybe $5k, $10k, $20K, $30k or none of the above? What if you erected a web site and you just happened to have the current and accurate E-mail addresses of 11,000 Ward 3 voters, plus you have the E-mail addresses of Ward 3 voters you obtained from local groups that like you. How much would it cost you to send an E-mail directing you to their campaign web site? Right. It would cost you nothing! For the mere cost of erecting your own web site and having between eleven to fifteen thousand E-mail addresses to registered voters, you can run a campaign for near nothing. This approach, along with a small amount of mini-flyers, has netted me around 12,400 hits to my web site. This approach allows me to reach voters as often as I want and at no cost! This is my campaign, and my goal is to show all that you do not need a fancy campaign office, paid staffers, fancy yard signs, or any of the other trappings of the past. My approach is different. I do not run around town professing to have a secret formula to win with, I am not cuddling up or rubbing shoulders with the Democratic party elite, I do not attend any of the socials the politicos throw, but I just quietly do my thing and humbly present me and what I have to offer and will allow the voters to decide. This is Rees for DC City Council Ward 3 in a nutshell. ############### So Mr. Rees is going to SPAM all of Ward 3 on an incessant basis? This will garner goodwill among the electorate. I want to know what group or groups supplied him with the "current and accurate E-mail addresses" for free. B. Frank -
SAM BROOKS & HIS CAMPAIGN FINANCE SHAM
bfrankdc replied to Joan Betts's topic in District of Columbia Politics
For anyone interested, the official filings can be obtained here: http://ocf.dc.gov/imaging/searchimages.asp As I understand it, the Ward 3 candidates to date are: Robert Gorden Mary Cheh Sam Brooks Cathy Wiss Jonathon Rees 4 of the five listed above filed reports which are available at the posted link. Mr. Rees did not file a report. Further a very cursory examination of the reports shows: -A lot of non-Ward 3 money supporting the campaigns -A lot of professionals (I note the Law School Community in Candidate Cheh's report, but Cheh, Wiss and Brooks all have this kind of support) -Loans from the candidates to the campaign - Nothing untoward or illegal in any of the filings. B. Frank -
REES HAS WITHDRAWN FROM THE WARD 3 RACE
bfrankdc replied to DC Big Snitch's topic in District of Columbia Politics
You have used two IP addresses today, both of them Proxy IP's. 70.86.16.226 216.69.177.47 Neither are local bona fide ISP IP addresses. Further, your posts have the coding errors created by proxy servers. What are you trying to hide? I have been all over Ward 3, and have not seen any new Rees materials. B. Frank -
SAM BROOKS & HIS CAMPAIGN FINANCE SHAM
bfrankdc replied to Joan Betts's topic in District of Columbia Politics
Joan, I suppose we will have to wait until the books are in to see where Mr. Brooks has spent the monies he has raised. Until then, the speculation on your part that the monies will be used for food and rent are somewhat idle. Further, you stated in another post that most of Rees's support is from non-Ward3 residents. What's is the difference? Why would you single out Mr. Brooks in your rants when you have several legitimate rivals for the open Ward 3 seat? Don't you think the amount of money raised signals legitimacy towards a serious campaign? Can anyone take your campaign seriously with little in the "war chest"? What about your hero, Scott Bolden? He has raised almost $200k towards unseating Phil Mendelson. What's the difference between the legitimacy of his campaign and that of your rivals? B. Frank -
REES HAS WITHDRAWN FROM THE WARD 3 RACE
bfrankdc replied to DC Big Snitch's topic in District of Columbia Politics
Joan, How is it that you have posted from two separate IP addresses in a VERY short period of time? What are you trying to hide by using an IP Proxy from Scottsdale, AZ and then from Boca Raton, FL? The tell-tale slashes (///) in your post give you away. It's sort of funny and sad, but I have not seen any new Rees campaign materials on the light posts, or in car windows, despite the claims and promises that "Team Rees" would be out in force after January 3rd. I would also add that I do not see other posters here bringing up Mr. Brooks. That afflicition only exists with Mr. Rees and "his supporters". B. Frank -
