REES ON ANOTHER BOARD. ********************************************************************* The other night, I was talking on the telephone with Tamela Gordon who is an ANC commissioner here in ward 3 about the ongoing efforts to recall another ANC commissioner Amy Bowman and did not know that she was Sam Brooks campaign manager. Amy Bowman disputed Sam Brooks $$$ claim on his website. Take a look at Sam Brooks website @ http://www.brooks2006.com. Now take a very close look at what he claims has been to date the level of campaign contributions. On January 31, 2006, all candidates will have to file with the DC Office of Campaign Finance the complete low down on who contributed to their campaign and how much. In talking with two of the other candidates, they think Sam Brooks is lying on his website, they have printed out what he claims and their campaign staff will take a very hard look at what he submits and if it does not jive with what he files, they intend to challenge him on it but I will stay clear as anyone who seeks to look must sign their name and sign their name again on any challenge. ************************************************************************ Any citizen can obtain from the DC Office of Campaign Finance a copy of the report on Sam Brooks and his 2004 campaign and why he was fined. Yet, anybody who goes to the DC Office of Campaign Finance at the Reeves Center can get proof that what Rees posted is true. When I review the DC Message board, there are some thoughtful expressions, however, this is not one of them. Let me elaborate on my credentials before I make this statement. I have served as a career civil servant for five Presidential Adminstrations, four of which I served in the White House Office of Management and Budget--an institution which emphasizes facts. I look at this article which is long on accusations and short on facts. In particular the statement: "In talking with two of the other candidates, they think Sam Brooks is lying on his website, they have printed out" Information that Mr. Rees should produce: l. Who are the two other candidates? 2. Where are the statements of the other two candidates that demonstrate that Mr. Brooks is lying? I am sure the electorate of Ward 3 are well informed and will not be guided by such inaccuracies. We all await Mr. Rees' production of the aforementioned documents. Failure to do so will discredit the totality of his postings on this message board. I do not use an alias, my name is front and center for all to see. I also informed him that Christopher Lively had no affiliation to the Brooks Campaign. And still he persisted. "Did I know that Amy Bowman had agreed to help him with his campaign?" Well, since I know Ms. Bowman personally and communicate with her often, I knew this point to be false. Unfortunately, the truth is that Mr. Rees continues to call and email Ms. Bowman and she continues to not respond. And here is where the ridiculous escalates beyond comprehension. Mr. Rees then said that he had spoken to Sam Brooks about their mutual press problems and the smear campaigns against them on the blogs and listserves. Rees said that they had agreed to set their differences aside and on and on... Well... Sam Brooks has never spoken to Jonathan Rees. If he had, I would know. I'm his Campaign Chair. Rees also had some things to say about other people he anticipates will run for Ward 3 Councilmember. Well, it wouldn't be a campaign without a few unsubstantiated rumors. But I don't even live in DC, nor am I involved with any political, lobbying or other group that has even the loosest connection to any candidate. Promise. Here's the lowdown on the admittedly confusing cast of characters. Most of the posts here have to do with candidate Jonathan Rees. He apparently posts stuff here under a variety of aliases (NikkieDix, Pam, JRR, Tammy, MissGlover Park, Angela Brannon, Officer Magana, etc etc). There are about a half dozen other regular posters here (DCist Martin, Factchecker2, BFrankDC and a couple of other folks ) . Each of us uses a single, non-changing handle, and (despite a certain candidate's claims) we are all separate people in real life as well as on-line.) These posters stop by here (the only board on which Rees seems to be allowed to post locally anymore) to counter the outrageous claims of what are now known as The Aliases ..check the post entitled "Rees's Multiple Alias Disorder for a list of their corresponding IP addresses.) So far as I know, the non-aliases poster aren't pro-anyone, just people who were fed up with the horrible and aggressive on-line behavior. As for the candidates themselves, I'll bet they're aware of the situation. But I don't expect any of them would lower themselves to participate in such juvenile goings-on.
