The District of Columbia was never meant to be a state, have a congressional vote but the other U.S. possessions were in that, they were promised consideration of such when entering into alliances to the United States. The District of Columbia does not deserve a Congressional vote or statehood nor should it be given such and when people moved here,they knew this and need to move elsewhere if they want such rights. When Congress created DC as a federal enclave, it made it clear that it was a city for people to come and work, it would not be a place treated like a state or territory and thus we all knew before we came here of the peril. Even if we had a vote it would be cancelled out by special interest groups. I have not lived in the District that long, but I don't understand why you would not want to give people a right to vote.
