  1. DC POLICE CHIEF LANIER'S ALL HANDS ON DECK PROGRAM D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier announced Friday that she will launch the second All Hands On Deck this weekend as part of her Summer Crime Initiative. The Summer Crime Initiative is designed to curb traditional spikes in crime experienced during the summer months. On Friday and Saturday, all available members of the Metropolitan Police Department, including administrative personnel, will work eight-hour tours of duty and will be placed in assignments throughout the city's seven police districts. Chief Lanier has also promised to take off the streets once and for all two men who are constantly seen fighting and never letting up.
  2. Sorry BFrank, but all of Cheh's staffers are white.
  3. DID JOE STERNLIEB HURT HIS WIFE ATTORNEY GENERAL LINDA SINGER As we all know, DC Attorney General Linda J. Singer in a series of interviews with the Washington Post insisted that she had absolutely no part in Mayor Adrian Fenty’s campaign for mayor. Recently, Singer’s husband Joe Sternlieb contradicted her by informing Gary Imhoff who is the publisher of DC Watch that his wife in fact did engage in fund raising activities for Mayor Fenty for the September 2006 primaries. This help Singer gave is why Fenty rewarded her with the position of attorney general. Now that Joe Sternlieb has made his wife look like the pathological liar we have warned people about, how much damage has he done to her credibility? Many in the media have picked up on this issue and are planning a story. We always knew that Linda Singer was the brains behind the Friends of Joe Sternlieb and Joe was just Linda’s go-for-boy. In Linda Singer’s confirmation hearing before the D.C. City Council, Daniel Solomon admitted in his testimony that Linda Singer was the brains behind creating DC Vote and not Joe as she created the entire blue print of what DC Vote would be and down the line and handed back to Joe and Daniel the blue print. The big question is, what is Mayor Fenty going to say as he also denied that Singer played any role in his mayoral campaign. No matter how you slice it, both Mayor Fenty and Attorney General Singer lied to everyone about their past relationship.
  4. Sorry Bfrank, just cut and pasted in a hurry.
  5. DC WATCH CALLS COUNCILWOMAN CHEH PETTY & REPREHENSIBLE "Sometimes, they just write themselves," Dorothy said. In the last issue (themail, July 22), I wrote about Councilmember Mary Cheh's suggestion that Jonathan Rees should have to pay the government's costs of investigating his complaint against her campaign, since the Office of Campaign Finance found that the campaign did not violate election law. Jeremy Faust of Councilmember Cheh's office sent us her response to our request for a comment, printed below, and I agree with Dorothy's reaction to it. This stuff just writes itself. Councilmember Cheh's E-mail is personal, petty, bitter, and unworthy of a councilmember. It is further proof of how bad her idea is that any citizen should be punished for making a complaint about anyone's election campaign, even if that complaint is not ultimately upheld. Citizens should not have to live under the fear that politicians motivated by the kind of animus exhibited by Councilmember Cheh will try to ruin them financially if they dare to challenge them. Cheh calls Rees "loopy," someone "who it would be generous to call a fringe candidate," and says, "He simply cannot be taken seriously." On the contrary, it is the duty of elected officials, even Councilmember Cheh, to take all their constituents and all citizens seriously, and not to dismiss them contemptuously. The idea that politicians should be able to judge which citizens are responsible enough to make complaints about them -- and then to risk their fortunes if they make any complaints -- is reprehensible. Cheh still doesn't see that. Do her colleagues? Meanwhile, Joseph Sternlieb called to say that the Office of Campaign Finance made several errors in its investigation and in its report about the investigation. Sternlieb declined to write anything for themail about these errors, but he said that he was going to write to OCF and that he would send a copy of that letter to me. If and when he does, I'll post his letter on DCWatch and report on it here. Sternlieb also denied that he supported Adrian Fenty for mayor prior to the primary election last year. He said that while his wife, Linda Singer, hosted a fundraiser for Fenty, he himself did not support Fenty and didn't even vote for him in the primary. Given Fenty's tendency to retaliate against those who didn't support him, that's a brave admission for a developer who seeks the city government's favors to make. In the last issue of TheMail, I inadvertently omitted a link to the Washington Post article about the Office of Campaign Finance's report (though I have added that link to the online version of the E-mail). The OCF report is now posted on DC Watch. Gary Imhoff DC Watch
  6. DC ATTORNEY GENERAL SINGER PATHOLOGICAL LIAR Back in November 2006, Attorney General Linda Jill Singer when interviewed by Yolanda Woodlee of the Washington Post insisted that she had never met Mayor Adrian Fenty prior to a breakfast at the Four Seasons Hotel nor had she worked on his campaign. Singer also in that article pointed out that her husband Joe Sternlieb knew Fenty and Tangherlini and that was it. Thus she was so surprised that he would offer her the chance to become DC’s next attorney general as many of you might recall. Yolanda Woodlee who reads TheMail stated to me on the phone 7-25-2007, that she noticed how Joe Sternlieb had contradicted his wife’s previous denial of having any role in the Fenty campaign. Sternlieb’s own words as quoted by Gary Imhoff: [sternlieb also denied that he supported Adrian Fenty for mayor prior to the primary election last year. He said that while his wife, Linda Singer, “hosted a fundraiser for Fenty”, he himself did not support Fenty and didn’t even vote for him in the primary.] http://www.dcwatch.com/themail/2007/07-07-25.htm I accused Linda Singer of being untruthful and being a fundraiser for Mayor Fenty and Councilwoman Cheh. For saying such, I caught a lot of flack, was called every name in the book and accused of having some mental defect. Thanks to Gary Imhoff who decided to release information about a phone call he recently received from Joe Sternlieb in the July 25 edition of TheMail, Sternlieb has contradicted what his wife had stated to the Washington Post and confirmed what I had said all along that his wife, Attorney General Linda Singer did in fact engage in fundraising for Fenty and she lied to everyone about it! Linda Singer should voluntarily resign immediately for lying not just to the Washington Post, the DC City Council but to the people of Washington, DC. If the team of Sternlieb and Singer would deny long ago they were fundraisers for Fenty and of recent, deny they were fundraiser for Cheh only to see Sternlieb flip on the issue, then what are the chances that my allegations that they did fundraising for Cheh as a PAC but were untruthful about it to the DC OCF most probable? I think we all know that when we hit our leaders with the truth, they and their supporters rather than be mature about it and admit and apologize go into a defensive mode by attacking you and trying to hurt you in your person only because you spoke the truth. Fenty sent his goons to my home, Fenty had Dorothy Brizill arrested on a bogus charge and Fenty has done other vile things to anyone who dares to challenge him, and Cheh is just as vicious by sending her goons to my job and accusing me of the most horrifying stuff and attempting to accuse my employer of not being a properly licensed health care provider. Cheh know I have a video tape of her goons to prove it and I challenge her to deny it and then let’s look at that video and pictures of her hugging these two bums that previously appeared on her campaign website. DC Government is more crooked that Tammany Hall or the Daley Machine of Chicago and it is time that the US Department of Justice devote massive funding to clean up DC or Congress abolish Home Rule.
  7. REES APPEALS DC OCF RULING IN THE CHEH CASE Jonathan R. Rees has done an about face and filed an appeal with Alice P. Miller (Director) DC Board of Elections and Ethics concerning a recent ruling by the DC Office of Campaign Finance that only found that Councilwoman Mary M. Cheh was guilty of one of two campaign finance law violations. Rees is seeking to prosecute this matter before the DC Board of Elections in a trial de novo where all witnesses and evidence can be presented in an open hearing and members of the media can be present to observe how the facts when applied against the laws and case law support the charges but were deliberately ignored and perverted by the DC OCF as a favor to a sitting council member. Rees alleges that the DC Office of Campaign Financed failed to interview all possible witnesses that would support the charges, ignored evidence that would show that Cheh was purposely untruthful under oath with them in that she was occupying her campaign headquarters as early as May 2006 and not beginning in mid August, that Cheh only presented proof of $4,000 in rent of the $7,000 she agreed to pay under contract and more. Rees also asserts that DC Attorney General Linda Singer and her husband Joe Sternlieb did in fact create a political action committee which was responsible for the printing, mailing and handing out of “the handbill” which the DC Office of Campaign Finance did fine Cheh over, and that the funding for this was provided by members of Sternlieb’s group to be spent by Sternlieb on their behalf for the selected the ward 3 Democratic candidate as admitted to by Sternlieb. Rees asserts that the director of the DC Office of Campaign Finance Cecily Collier-Montgomery is one of the most dishonest government officials who should have been indicted by the US Department of Justice for a long string of criminal acts as outlined by the Office of the DC Inspector General and accepted as factual by then US Attorney Roscoe Brown who felt dealing with the crookedness of Cecily Collier-Montgomery would be better suited by both administrative and civil action which never took place. Rees argues the perverting of the Cheh matter is good cause for US Attorney Jeffery Taylor to re-open and re-consider indictments of Collier-Montgomery and her side kick Kathy Williams. Rees states that he will take this matter all the way to the District of Columbia Court of Appeals after exhausting his administrative remedy if necessary, and has asked the Office of the United States Attorney – Fraud and Public Corruption Division to look into this matter and to re-consider indicting Cecily Collier-Montgomery. 11. DC WATCHES MOCKS COUNCILWOMAN MARY CHEH The award for worst bad government idea this week goes to Councilmember Mary Cheh. I hope that she said what she said in a fit of momentary resentment and pique, and now regrets it. But I doubt that, so I think it is worth pointing out how wrong she was. Cheh actually had a good week. On July 17, the Office of Campaign Finance released its final report and order in a complaint about her campaign that had been filed by Jonathan Rees. The order is available in PDF format by going to http://ocf.dc.gov/cfd/cfd.asp, and clicking on Mary Cheh (you may have to use Internet Explorer to get this page to work). The complaint had essentially two parts. The first was not a complaint against Cheh, but against Joe Sternlieb and Linda Singer, whom Rees accused of creating a political action committee (PAC) to raise campaign funds for Cheh, and failing to register the PAC or file financial reports for it. The second was a charge that Cheh paid an unusually low rent for her campaign headquarters space, and that the difference between the low rent and the market rate rent constituted an illegally large campaign contribution from the realty company, P.N. Hoffman, that managed the building. Joseph Sternlieb and Linda Singer are a married couple who are politically active in Wards 3 and 4. They were prominent supporters and fundraisers both in Mayor Fenty's primary and general campaigns and in Councilmember Cheh's primary and general campaigns in Ward 3. Sternlieb is a developer whose career began as the committee clerk for Charlene Drew Jarvis on the Committee on Economic Development. He helped write the legislation that established Business Improvement Districts, moved from that position to become a senior official of the Downtown BID, and left the BID to enter development. His current company, EastBanc, is the sole-source beneficiary of the mayor's and council's "emergency" giveaway of the West End Library, fire station, and police office. Linda Singer, who had been executive director of DC Appleseed, was appointed by Mayor Fenty as the District's Attorney General, at a time when she was not a member of the DC Bar. Rees charged that Sternlieb and Singer called together a group of people to interview Ward Three council candidates, that the group selected Mary Cheh as its preferred candidate, and then raised money to support her campaign, which would fit the definition of a PAC. Rees called the group "Friends of Joe Sternlieb," and the OCF makes a big point of the fact that the group was called "Ward 3 Action," and not "Friends of Joe Sternlieb." The OCF wrote letters to several members of this group and interviewed a few, whose interviews it summarizes in its report. It did not receive a reply to its letter inquiry from Attorney General Singer, and did not attempt to interview her, but accepted the representation of her husband that she was not involved with the group or in any of the group's activity. Sternlieb, whom the OCF identifies as a developer and "community leader," an honorific it doesn't accord to anyone else in its report, represented that the group did not raise money for Cheh as a group, but as individuals, and that he did not collect contributions from others, but merely loaned his name to fundraisers for her and informed others of how they could contribute to her campaign. On this evidence, the OCF came to the conclusion that the group was not legally a PAC. The amount of office space occupied by the Cheh campaign is at the heart of the second controversy. Rees and two workers in the Christian Science Reading Room next door to the campaign headquarters said that the campaign occupied the entire space vacated by its former occupant. People associated with the rental company and the campaign, however, testified that the campaign used only two or three rooms in that space, and paid an appropriate rent for that amount of space. OCF credits their testimony, and again rejects Rees' charge. The OCF did find that the Cheh campaign published a campaign flyer without the required identifying notice that the committee paid for the flyer. It fined Cheh $500 for the violation, and suspended that fine. Jonathan Rees is controversial. I know that because every time I publish one of his messages in themail, I get E-mails saying I should never publish anything by him, and saying that the writers will never read or submit anything to themail again because I used a message by Rees. But his suspicions and charges of campaign irregularities in this matter seem perfectly reasonable to me, even if they were not upheld by the Office of Campaign Finance. Now, here's the worst bad government idea that Cheh promoted, from the Post article about the OCF's report: "Cheh said she was outraged about the time and money spent by the city because 'one misguided individual, Jonathan Rees, thought he could make mischief.' Cheh said Rees should have to repay the city for the waste of time resulting from his 'malicious charges.'" On the contrary, a citizen who witnesses what he believes to be misconduct in a political campaign should be encouraged to report it to the Office of Campaign Finance. Cheh, instead, wants to discourage it -- to wreck retribution on citizens if the OCF doesn't support their complaints. This is nothing but a politician's protection racket. What citizen would dare to report misconduct at the risk of being charged tens of thousands of dollars if the investigating agency doesn't support the complaint? What Cheh's proposal would do is shut OCF down as an investigative agency. If anything qualifies as malicious, misguided mischief, it is this. Gary Imhoff DC Watch themail@dcwatch.com
  12. EastBanc, PN Hoffman and others are the people funding FRIENDS OF JOE STERNLIEB but maybe now people will start listening. See > http://www.corrupt1.blogspot.com"]http://www.corrupt1.blogspot.com[/b] Hey, we don't see any more of Bfrank, Truthseeker and others as they were all part of the Friends of Joe Sternlieb if not him in an alias.
  13. OUR CORRUPT POLITICAL MACHINES Throughout American history, corruption has been a part of life in the USA but the three biggest cities known for its corruption was first New York City with its Tammany Hall, Chicago with the Daley Machine and in recent times, the District of Columbia with Team Fenty. America’s most corrupt governments were under Democratic Party rule. What corrupted these three cities were developers whose greed for more and more money without consideration for the impact their developments would have on their cities resulted in bribes flying everywhere, people getting hurt physically and otherwise and a breakdown of quality city services. Sure there is corruption elsewhere in the USA but not as rampant as it is in the District of Columbia from Mayor Fenty, to all members of the DC City Council and down to the heads of the agencies of the District of Columbia government. All outward indications show that Team Fenty is far more corrupt than the Barry Machine was, but it will take time for the public to realize it and see the fruits of this corruption.
  14. LOSING YOUR POLITICAL VIRGINITY When the US Attorney decides to charge you with a crime, he will hit you with 3-4 different charges for more or less the same offense knowing that one of the charges will stick even if you get probation or a slap on the wrist. You still have a record!!!!! Like wise, we knew that when we accused DC Councilwoman Mary Cheh of the various things she did, that one of the charges would stick and it did, even if she was given a slap on the wrist as being a first time offender. What Cheh was popped for was a $10,000 campaign mail-out where she failed to identify who paid for it. That is no small time thing. No matter how you slice it, we took Cheh’s political virginity from her and we are proud of it because she is dirty as they come.
  15. CAMPAIGN FINANCE RULING ON COUNCILWOMAN CHEH On February 16, 2007, the DC Office of Campaign Finance iniated an investigation into the campaign activities of DC City Councilwoman Mary M. Cheh based upon allegations made by Jonathan R. Rees and supported by former ward 3 city council candidates Erik Gaull, Robert Gordon, Bill Rice and Cathy Wiss on a point by point basis which alleged: 1. That DC Attorney General Linda Jill Singer and her husband Joe Sterlieb along with about twenty five (25) other people formed a political action committeee designed to endorse a ward 3 candidate, assist them in obtaining campaign contributions, votes and etcetera; 2. That DC City Councilwoman Mary M. Cheh was the beneficiary of the activities of this political action committee; and 3. That DC City Council Woman Mary M. Cheh accepted in-kind contributions on campaign rental space from PN Hoffman Company. Today the DC Office of Campaign Finance issued a twenty four (24) page opinion on this matter. Read their opinion >[ Here In sum, the DC OCF accepting as true what was said and discovered through an investigation concluded in short: 1. That DC Attorney General Linda Jill Singer, her husband and others did form a group that gave the impression that it might be a political action committee but its overall behavior fell short to trigger the legal requirement(s) to file as a political action committee with the DC OCF; 2. That because DC Councilwoman Mary M. Cheh had issued separate checks to different business entities under the thumb of PN Hoffman Company, it gave the impression that she had gotten a sizable discount on her campaign headquarters which she began leasing in August 2006. ( Cheh did not in the OCF report account for any rental payments to Hoffman for August or September 2006 which means she got free rent for two months); and 3. That the OCF did assess a $500.00 fine but suspended the fine as it surrounded DC Councilwoman Mary M. Cheh's failure to affix a disclaimer on some of her campaign literature as to who paid for those hand-outs/mailings. While the other complainants do not agree with the OCF's finding of facts and conclusion of law(s), Rees feels that those differences are apples and oranges and not worth noting an appeal on. Rees and the others agree that DC Attorney General Linda Jill Singer, her husband Joe Sternlieb and others did form a political action committee as stated by all the other ward 3 candidates who they interviewed, the words and promises they made to all the ward 3 candidates were those of a political action committee, but because they failed to do a few minor things, their actions fell short of constituting a political action committee on it face. Everyone from DC Attorney General Singer, DC Councilwoman Cheh and down the line were very sloppy in all they did, that have put the public at large on guard to all that they do in the future but this is not the first time Cheh has messed up and failed to dot her (i)s and cross her (t)s and it will not be the last. From all outward indications in ward 3, DC Councilwoman Mary M. Cheh has already angered through her actions a large number of people who voted for her, her performance on the council has been dismal at best when compared to former ward 3 council member Kathy Patterson, and we believe that this complaint against Cheh is just one of many that will come from various groups or persons.
  16. REES vs. DC OFFICE OF CAMPAIGN FINANCE The DC Office of Campaign Finance as a matter of law is required upon opening an investigation to make a finding, convey that finding to the complainant or seek via the DC Board of Elections additional time as well as inform the complainant that additional time is needed. I have filed a complaint against Councilwoman Mary M. Cheh for having accepted money and/or in-kind contributions from an allege political action committee subject of this blog and from a local developer, P.N. Hoffman & Company. The DC Office of Campaign Finance assigned the matter a case number [DC OCF Investigation 2007-101] on February 16, 2007, and is now more than a month late in tendering a report. I decided that he will hold the DC OCF to the letter of the law and has filed before the DC Court of Appeals a Petition For A Writ of Mandamus to compel DC OCF to play by the rules and has cited previous incidents where they have not for the most part, and have pandered to corrupt government officials. 17. IS THE BLOG "DCist" ANTI-SEMETIC? DCist wrote on July 16, 2007: We tragically forgot to mention in (About Tonight) that all left-wing, communist, Jewish, homosexual pornographers will gather on the Mall for Screen on the Green's first showing of the summer, Annie Hall. The movie starts just after sunset on the screen between 4th and 7th, NW. Bring an umbrella and/or a Faraday cage, as the thunderstorm watch goes until 9 p.m., but the screening is more or less rain or shine, unless lightning makes an appearance. For updates call 877-262-5866. The fact that the DC Jewish community is the most left-winged Jewish community in the USA and DC has become the Jewish homosexual capital of the USA is not a reason for DCist to poke fun. The fact that DCist is packed with people of German decent may explain the anti-Semitism: E.g. Martin Austermuhle its lead political blogger.
  18. MAYOR FENTY IS AS DUMB AS HE LOOKS D.C. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty announced today that the city will appeal to the Supreme Court to uphold a long-time ban on handguns that was overturned by a lower court in March. "The handgun ban has saved many lives and will continue to do so if it remains in effect," Fenty said at a morning news conference. As the Washington City Paper put it, Fenty’s decision to appeal again is Dumb Dumb and Dumb. We believe that DC's handgun ban has been a failure and the some 3,000 people who have died inside DC by a handgun shows how much of a failure it has been.
  19. Human, Mayor Fenty's hair stylist is Mr. Clean.
  20. DC JAIL CHIEF BLOCKS SUICIDE REPORT The hanging death of a female prisoner has provoked a showdown between the D.C. Council and the city’s Corrections Department, which has refused to release its findings in the case. In a tense confrontation before the Council Committee on Public Safety and the Judiciary, Corrections Director Devon Brown refused to answer questions about the circumstances surrounding the March 1 suicide of 32-year-old Alicia Edwards, citing executive privilege. Ms. Edwards was arrested and incarcerated on minor shop lifting charges. Bravo MPC DC for wasting the taxpayers’ money once again on meeting your quota for the day.
  21. Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder 2007 The ambassador for the country of Sudan here in Washington, DC who lives in the Hillandale section off the tip of Georgetown just gave his 18 year old son a new car. What was it. It was a $200,000.00 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder 2007. Yours truly had the chance today to chow down with the ambassador’s son over pizza and talk at their official residence. Forget the fact that half the population of the Sudan lives in utter poverty, the people of the Darfar area are being slaughtered each day and the hierarchy of the Sudan covers their homes and government buildings with floor covering from the factories my family owns. Rather, look on the bright side, the ambassador’s son and I went ape up and down Reservoir Road. After that little wild fling, I went over to have some coke and chit chat with the ambassador's son for The Netherlands 2501 Upton Street, NW. My point is, why waste your time with two bit DC politicians when you can reach out to the world!!!
  22. ORGANIZED CRIME IN DC CITY POLITICS Corruption by government officials is a fact of life and not even the efforts in DC by U.S. Attorney Jeffery Taylor, DC Inspector General Charles Willoughby or others can put an end to it but merely do their best to contain it. Throughout history, most government officials who allowed corruption to flourish like in Boston, Chicago and New York actually did not upset voters because they knew that their long term success was routed in allowing some of the graft to trickle down to the little guy on the corner by means of a job, help with personal problems and more. Sadly, DC government officials are as greedy as they come, they get it all and nothing ever trickles down, and then they can’t understand why there is so much criticism of them by voters. Those doing the corrupting in DC in 2007 are no different than the ones who did it in Boston, Chicago or New York in 1907. No one ethnic group or what have you has been immune from involving itself in public corruption, but the two most powerful groups for the last 100 years and more have been the Italians and the Jews. Sure there are others but they are not as well organized or funded as the Italians and Jews. The Italians are best know for The Mafia and the Jews for The Purple Gang and other units of crime. Italians who engage in this behavior trigger the bigotry and stereo-typing of all Italians, and the Jews who do it actually trigger anti-Semitism seen even on local blogs and message boards in Metro DC whether either group wants to accept such reality. In 2007, Italian organized crime figures and their operatives still pave the side walks of Capitol Hill but on the local DC level, it is the Jews behind the corrupting of our local leaders but they call themselves Developers like Joe Sternlieb. Sadly, organized crime is here to stay and the best we can do is, to do as we have, but maybe a bit more and that is, to be more aggressive by slamming these bums.
  23. CORRUPTION AT THE DC OFFICE OF CAMPAIGN FINANCE In 2004, Richard Mathias a former auditor with the DC Office of Campaign Finance was fired from his job only because he had co-operated with the DC Office of the Inspector General and the US Dept. of Justice in an investigation of officials with the DC Office of Campaign Finance who were violating both District and Federal laws. As a result of his wrongful termination, Mathias filed a lawsuit. That lawsuit is still ongoing because District officials have been throwing one monkey wrench after another into the case to slow down a resolution. It is no hidden secret that Cecily Collier-Montgomery is one of the most corrupt agency heads the Government of the District of Columbia has every had, and also has had a very unhappy personal life where her husband Dr. Alfred Montgomery, DVM has fathered a child/children with another woman while married to Cecily Collier-Montgomery. It is this unhappy marriage and the wrongs that Dr. Montgomery has subjected Cecily Collier-Montgomery to that motivates her to be so dishonest in all her dealings. As such, she feels that she has to lie, cheat, distort the truth and cover up for government officials who do wrong in order to keep her job and maintain the standard of living that her four children have grown accustomed to because, she feels alone and betrayed by her adulterous husband. As long as Cecily Collier-Montgomery heads the DC Office of Campaign Finance, the truth will never be a part of any decision she makes as she makes them all despite whatever the evidence her staff comes with. If she doesn't like the findings or evidence her staff brings, she makes them make things disappear so she can arrange a ruling that will enrich herself not the people of the District of Columbia. The Truth is a foreign and vulgar concept to such a good Catholic like Cecily Collier-Montgomery as she has already made her pack with Satan and he can't wait to collect.
