  1. DC COUNCILWOMAN MARY CHEH’S BBQ PARTY A BIG FALIURE DC Councilwoman Mary Cheh held today a ward 3 wide, back to school BBQ for her constituents. Sadly, only fifty five (55) people bothered to show up, and half of them were Cheh staffers, employees of the DC Fire Department and a few DC government officials. Actually, more people showed up for the little league baseball game being played next to the BBQ at Turtle Park! As a matter of fact, this may be the worst turn out for any event held by a DC council member for their constituents since the start of “Home Rule” back in the 1970’s. Why such a poor turn out? Well, it only took nine (9) months in office for Cheh to disappoint a lot of her supporters and others with her dismal record on the council of trying to force Guardasil down our throats, support of Fenty's sneaky take over plan of our schools and more; or Maybe the turn out was low because the people of ward 3 did not want to encounter a possible turn out of homeless people.

  3. No BS. The DC OCF makes clear what they wrote is an excerpt not the entire testimony given. If I knew who you were, I'd be happy to meet you and hand you a copy of the full testimony of each person who appeared before the DC OCF.
  4. This short video shows a little sample of what can happen if the US Senate passes S.1105, the "Hate Crimes Bill". VIDEO
  5. Bfrankdc, If you take a trip down to the office of the DC OCF and buy a full copy of the report not the short version then you will get to read where Bill Rice, Cathy Wiss and another stated that Sternlieb told them that he had in fact received said monies but gave it back. As far as I am concerned, this could constitute checks never cashed. Emily DeCeccio told me that some within her group had already given Sternlieb money to encourage a run but she never said who or how much.
  6. DID MARY CHEH LIE TO OFC INVESTIGATORS Did DC Councilwoman Mary M. Cheh lie to DC Office of Campaign Finance investigators over when she began occupying her campaign headquarters at 4731 Wisconsin Avenue NW. Cheh claims her stay was between August to November 2006. Unfortunately, others say it began before the summer of 2006 and as early as April. Employees of the Christian Science Reading Room which occupied the office next to Cheh’s said Cheh began occupying her campaign headquarters around the time Bill Rice announced his candidacy (April 2006) for the ward 3 city council seat. Photographs offered up to DC OCF of Cheh and her campaign staff was taken in early July 2006 although the pictures lack a time/date stamping. DC OCF general counsel Kathy Williams has stated that DC OCF is willing to re-open the case if new evidence can be presented that clearly pinpoints Cheh’s occupancy before the mid-August 2006 date she claims. A lot of ward 3 residents led by four ward 3 ANC commissioners say that Cheh is lying through her teeth and are now looking for physical proof to support the fact Cheh lied to investigators. Cheh is notorious for acts of deception and will not admit to such behavior until cornered like she was when the Washington City Paper popped her over IRS violations. Cheh may think she is out of the woods but she is not, as a lot of people are banning together to find both physical evidence and highly credible witnesses to establish that she lied to investigators and that her lease agreement with PN Hoffman Company is a sham lease concocted by Cheh and Hoffman to cover up months of free rent.
  7. BFrankdc, When the DC Office of Campaign Financed interview Robert Gordon, Bill Rice and Cathy Wiss, these three stated that both Emily DeCiccio and Joe Sternlieb had stated such to them when they were being interviewed for the group's endorsement. Here is what Gordon said in the summary transcript to OCF: Summary of Interview of Robert Gordon, 2006 Candidate for Ward 3 Council On March 23, 2007, OCF interviewed Robert Gordon (Gordon), 2006 candidate for Ward 3 Council. Gordon appeared pro se. Gordon stated that he was contacted by Joseph Sternlieb via e-mail on March 30, 2006, which identified the group as “Ward 3 Action” asking to meet with him (TR, p. 8). Gordon provided a copy of the e-mail (Group Exhibit 9). Gordon continued that Sternlieb informed him that the group had met a couple of times and consisted of approximately 20 members, but it seemed like there were a lot more people in the group (TR, p. 9). Gordon additionally stated that he was contacted by Anne-Marie Bairstow via e-mail to arrange the interview he attended on April 5, 2006. He also stated that Sternlieb’s wife, Linda Singer, was in attendance during his interview (TR, pp. 9, 10). Gordon stated that he recalled that Andrew Aurbach, Anne-Marie Bairstow, Rosalyn Doggett, Norman Dong, Aviva Kempner, Joe Sternlieb and Barbara Wolfson were members of the group that interviewed him. Gordon further stated that the interview lasted approximately one hour (TR, p. 12). He also stated that Bairstow appeared to be leader of the group, but he believed that Sternlieb was the key person in the group and that he was clearly the leader of the group because a lot of the contacts were through him (TR, pp. 14, 15). Gordon stated that he did not receive the groups’ decision until he telephoned Sternlieb and was informed that they were supporting Cheh. He also stated that according to Sternlieb, the group was initially formed to support Sternlieb’s candidacy but when he decided not to run they decided to use the group to support another candidate. Gordon stated that Sternlieb told him that the group would bring in lots of votes, political support, resources and money. Gordon also stated that Sternlieb additionally said that the group, plus a broader group of others, had committed about $100,000.00 for his campaign, but it would not be as much for another candidate because the candidate was not as well known, or respected. Nonetheless, it would be a significant amount of money in the $20,000.00 to $25,000.00 range (TR, pp. 17, 18). Gordon further stated that it was his impression that there were a lot of people out there who were prepared to give at the group’s direction; and, that the lucky person who got the nod from this group would be the one who would be the recipient of that money. Gordon stated that during his campaign he did not encounter any other organized group like Ward 3 Action that had a questionnaire to fill out and interviews, except union and environmental groups. He continued that he found Ward 3 Action to be organized and focused with the specific goal of picking a candidate from a field of many candidates and back that candidate. Gordon further stated that it was clear to him that the group was in favor of greater development along the Wisconsin Avenue corridor based upon the questions he was asked when they interviewed him (TR, p. 27).
  8. COUNCILMAN JOE STERNLIEB Back when the ward 3 city council race was beginning, Joe Sternlieb had openly admitted to all the other ward 3 candidates that he was going to run for such but later on decided not to. Joe Sternlieb admitted to most of the other ward 3 candidates that he had accumulated around $100,000.00 in political contributions and later on gave back all of that money to contributors except around $20k to $25k. See Page 17, In Re; Mary M. Cheh, OCF Inv. FI2007-101. We have evidence that Sternlieb accepted from contributors around $100,000.00 but there is no evidence that he ever gave it back. This $20k to $25k seems to have been used by Sternlieb and his associates to print, mail out and distribute a handbill which OCF found that Mary Cheh was not able to explain and sanctioned her for it but suspended the sanction as a first time offender. The question is, if Sternlieb began a campaign officially or otherwise, accepted political contributions from supporters, then why did he not file with the DC Office of Campaign Finance? Would anybody care to call to the Office of the United States Attorney, DDC to ask them to looking into this $100,000.00 Sternliebs admits to having received as an unofficial political candidate where there is no evidence where that money went.
  9. DC ACTIVIST DOROTH BRIZILL HELPS REES BEFORE DC BOEE Notable good government activist Dorothy Brizill of DC Watch appeared this day before the District of Columbia Board of Elections & Ethics to voice her concerns about the shoddy ruling in the case of Councilwoman M. M. Cheh and the many errors committed by the DC Office of Campaign Finance to white wash the matter, the failure to compel certain government officials to testify and others and the ommission of admissions by Joe "The Sissy" Sternlieb" that contradicted earlier claims that he and his wife Linda Singer had not solicited campaign funding for Mary Cheh. Others have also come to the Rees' defense including the DC Republican Party, a Catholic University political science professor and a list of others to criticize the DC OCF for its dishonesty. More than likely, this case will probably go before the DC Court of Appeals after the last of the administrative remedies has been exhausted.
  10. From: JRR [mailto:jrrees2006@] Sent: Monday, July 30, 2007 11:31 PM To: 'themail@dcwatch.com' Subject: THIS IS STILL AMERICAN LAST TIME I LOOKED If I am upsetting anyone with the things I say, then I will attribute that to two factors and they are: 1) All attacks on me are coming from my opponent(s) and/or their supporters; and 2) I must be touching upon a nerve and getting too close for comfort. The fact is, why any reader would become so uptight over anything I say does not make sense unless the reader(s) expressing unhappiness and want me silenced is the person(s) I am talking about or a supporter who fears that maybe somebody will start taking an honest look at what is being said and do something about it, and that is a scary thought. When I filed my complaint with the DC OCF against Councilwoman Mary Cheh, there were about five witnesses who had no interest in the outcome that placed Cheh at her campaign headquarters in April 2006 not August, and the fact that the DC OCF chose to believe Cheh over others has nothing to do with whether or not the allegations were false but it might just be as Theresa Conroy put it in the July 29 edition of “themail”; a white wash by OCF. Also, any intelligent reader if they had read that OCF report Gary Imhoff linked would have quickly noticed a major error by DC OCF. What is that error? 1) DC OCF found that Mary Cheh rented her campaign office from PN Hoffman from mid August – mid November 2006; 2) That Mary Cheh paid $2,500 for the first month, $1,500 for the second month but Mary Cheh paid nothing for the last two months of her alleged four (4) month lease agreement; and 3) How could DC OCF rule that Mary Cheh did not get at least two free months of rent from PN Hoffman Co when the evidence she did was smacking them in the face? If anybody wants to attack me then first know the facts, attack the correctness of the facts but when people only want to attack my person not what I say, then I know that I have done the right thing. As far as I am concerned, Mary Cheh did all that I accused her of, the evidence is there in black and white, DC OCF knows it but chose to pervert justice as a favor to a sitting member of DC City Council and that is why I have asked the US Department of Justice – Fraud and Public Corruption division to look into this perverting of justice by DC OCF and the lying to investigators by Cheh. DC OCF’s own finding of fact again shows Cheh did not pay for two months of rent valued at $3,000.00 and evidence that shows she got three more months of free rent on the back side. Attack the merits of what I say not me which nobody has yet to do.
  11. Dan Tangherlini did not hire me. The fact you think I said such shows that you don't read things thoroughly. It seems you only come here Bfrank just to argue with me as I fail to see you post anything of benefit to readers.
  12. Let's agree to disagree Bfrank but I did get someone in Councilman Gray's office to confirm that Cheh only has four staffers and others are committee staffers not assigned to her per se.
  13. Sorry Bfrankdc but you are in the wrong. Cheh has four assigned, full-time staffers all whom are white just as all other council members have four staffers. All other staffers belong to set committees and float between the members of the committee. My assertions my be a matter of technicality but as long as the DC City Council has its internal operations structured as it does, then until these staffers are listed as being employed by a set member, then they are not. Also, many other people have come out and accused Cheh of racism is you keep up with the Post, Times nd others. Respectfully Bfrankdc, I don't like arguing with your fat self as I do not want to be accused of giving Sidney Bfrank Greenstreet a heart attack.
  14. Bfrankdc, I don't have the foggiest idea on from whom she is being loanded out by as that concept also seems a bit weird.
  15. I just spoke to the DC City Council, Personnel Office and they said that Dee Williams is not a permanent member of Mary Cheh's staff but assigned to her office temporarily
  16. Dee Williams is listed as floater and not a part of any one council members' staff.
  17. DC WATCH LAMBAST CHEH OPERATIVES AGAIN Gary Imhoff, publisher of DC Watch lambastes DC Councilwoman Mary M. Cheh’s operatives for bombarding him with emails insulting Jonathan R. Rees’ person but not arguing anything of merit or offering anything of substance. This was typical of Cheh’s campaign when she attacked all of her rivals with personal insults but never attacking the merits of her opponents’ positions. Imhoff writes: The controversy over Jonathan Rees’ complaint about Councilmember Mary Cheh’s campaign continues in this issue, below. I received other messages that were not for publication that castigated me for printing anything by Rees, but all of those messages were dedicated to denigrating Rees himself. None of them said or attempted to prove that the specific charges he made were unbelievable, incredible, baseless, or frivolous; instead, they simply said I should ignore anything Rees says. It should be obvious by now that that argument doesn’t work with me. I’m open to being convinced that Rees’ charges are wrong, that the Ward 3 Action group was nothing like a political action committee and that the Cheh campaign occupied only a part of its headquarters space, and for no longer than two months. But convince me with the facts, not personal attacks. Gary Imhoff July 29th, 2007 themail@dcwatch.com
  18. FORMER WARD 3 COUNCIL CANDIDATE DR. CONROY STANDS UP FOR REES Bill Coe gave the impression in Wednesday’s themail that Jonathan Rees did not show up for any of the candidate debates when he ran last year for the council. I can certify that Mr. Rees participated in the public safety forum last September, at the Sibley auditorium. All the Ward 3 candidates were at the debate but one — Mary Cheh. I’ve read the OCF report that Wednesday’s DCWatch links to. It does seem to give Councilmember Cheh a clean bill of health, but there is a troublesome omission. The OCF concluded that the Cheh campaign began its occupancy of PN Hoffman’s Wisconsin Avenue location in August 2006, when the campaign began paying market rate rent. The OCF report, though, also summarizes testimony from workers at the next-door tenant, the Christian Science Reading Room, that the Cheh campaign began its occupancy at about the same time Bill Rice became a candidate. Surprisingly, the OCF report does not mention when Bill Rice became a candidate, even though it is in OCF’s own records: April 2006. By not addressing head-on this inconsistency in testimony as to when the Cheh campaign actually started occupying the PN Hoffman space, the OCF certainly gives the impression that there might be some whitewash in its report. Mr. Coe expressed concern that the time it takes a public official to answer baseless charges takes away from the official’s public works. Councilmember Cheh has advanced some substantial initiatives since she came on the council. For instance, all of Ward 3 can support her crusade to rid DC of invasive weeds that damage indigenous plants. Although we all have suffered if answering the charges took time away from Councilmember Cheh’s weeding, it is still important that citizens retain the right to bring complaints regarding possible campaign finance irregularities.
  19. I only saw Bfrankdc from maybe 50 feet away. He was young maybe no more than 35. He looked a white version of Fat Albert. Obviously, he is not health care minded, was dressed very shabby, unshaven, hair not combed and could benefit from attending Weight Watchers.
  20. Human, I now live in New York City. I changed careers to work for Pepsi-Cola as a regional marketing agent with DC being a part of my territory. If I run for office again, it will be as a Republican.
  21. Dee Smith is one of the "Committee Staffers" loaned to Cheh's office. I was corrected last night. CHEH's STAFF: Susan Banta Chief of Staff Bijan Bayne Special Assistant - Intern Jeremy Faust Legislative Counsel Talia Primor Legislative Assistant - Intern COMMITTE STAFFERS: Jason Juffras Committee Director Patrick Leibach STAFFERS ON LOAN Dee Smith Bfrank, Dee Smith floats around from councilmember to councilmember. All of Cheh's paid staffers are white.
  22. Human, The problem is, the DC agencies might want you but DC Office of Personnel has the final say and if they want their person in, you are out no matter how much that upsets the agency.
  23. Unless there has been a change in the last two weeks, everyone found at her office was White then. Cheh has only six staffers and help from committee staffers that other council members share and those people are not white. Maybe you are confusing the committee staffers with her's!
  24. Human, Ask the people over at D.DOT and they will tell you that five years ago, I was offered the position at D.DOT to overseeing the parking meters because I was considered one of the most experienced persons in dealing with ACS but that job offer fell because of biases inside DC Office of Personnel where its director wanted her counsin to have that job not a white male. Net result, things with the meters are worse. Ask Terri Adams - terri-adams@dc.gov about how she offered me the job and DCOP gave its to a counsin of the director of DCOP.
  25. SORT OF REMINDS YOU OF THE MINDSET OF THE FENTY ADMINISTRATION Beginning back in January 2006, Mayor Adrian Fenty and his team has slowly begun the process of seizing total control of all functions and powers of the District of Columbia and its government away from its city council and the voters. Mayor Fenty and his team have been posturing to allow Fenty to become DC’s first dictator along the lines of Stalin, Allende, Castro, Chavez and others and anyone who dares to challenge the Green Machine has paid a price for it. It is now the summer of 2007 and Fenty and his people continue their nefarious ways in the quest to make you and me “obsolete” so that only his friends (Developers) reap the benefits of his actions as so well seen by his take over of our schools, the closing of agencies that will decide the fate of lands and so much more. Watch the video below carefully and see the similarities between what is in this video and what Mayor Fenty and his team have been doing and intend to do into the future to the good people of the District of Columbia to make you and me obsolete.
