  4. The DC Improv is proud to host one of our favorite comics, Mr. Brett Leake, for the week of April 3rd thru the 7th. Brett brings a brilliant sense of observational comedy coupled with a clever and witty style that is unparalleled and guaranteed to tickle your brain. Having headlined our club on numerous occasions, Brett has been a regular on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno and could be the smartest comic on the circuit today. Brett was also one of only four comics to perform at The Smithsonian's first ever comedy program and was hired personally by "Garfield" author/illustrator Jim Davis for his own birthday party. When people ask me "What's a good show to come and see?" I have five words and an exclamation point for them: "Brett Leake is the man!" [url=http://www.dcimprov.com[/url]
  5. In 1959, Colin Quinn was born to a couple of Irish teachers in Brooklyn. He grew up in Park Slope, Brooklyn. He started appearing such clubs as "Caroline's" and "The Comic Strip". In 1987 he was on MTV's Remote Control, which ran until 1991. He was a regular on the 1988 comedy show, 2 Hip 4 TV, and also had a cameo in an episode of the Comedy Central show Pulp Comics. He had small roles in the movies Three Men and a Baby, Married to the Mob, Crocodile Dundee 2, Who's The Man?, and the SNL spin-off movie A Night At The Roxbury as "Dooley". In 1992, he hosted the series Caroline's Comedy Hour. In 1994, Colin appeared in a one-man production, Sanctifying Grace, which ran off-Broadway and was based upon Colin's neighborhood in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and the people he grew up around. In 1998, after a rewrite with pal Lou DiMaggio, the show resurfaced on Broadway as Colin Quinn: An Irish Wake. Colin has also written several screenplays, one of which became the 1996 movie Celtic Pride, which starred Dan Aykroyd and Daniel Stern. In September 1995, he was hired by NBC's Saturday Night Live as a writer. In early 1996, Colin became a featured player on the show, and in September 1997, he became a full-fledged cast member. A strange twist of fate came in January 1998, when he replaced his pal Norm MacDonald as anchor of "Weekend Update" on SNL. Colin also starred in a movie that he co-wrote and acts in St. Anthony's Bones. DC Improv

  8. 3/7 - 3/11 Comedian Pablo Francisco returns to The DC Improv!Pablo Francisco returns to The DC Improv Comedy Club 3/7 - 3/11. Be sure to get your tickets soon, some shows have already sold out for Pablo. A Funny thing happens to audiences when they see Pablo Francisco live for the first time. In a matter of minutes, crowds go from the quiet response that often greets a relative unknown, to jolts of boisterous laughter and applause. What accounts for the transformation? Namely the 20-something Tucson native's ability to create vividly funny living pictures using strikingly authentic off-the-wall sound effects and loads of his own ample imagination. Pablo's send-up of grimly narrated action-movie previews, with Arnold Schwarzenegger as a tortilla vendor targeted by the mob, is one good example. Another is his hilarious spoofing of those intensely melodramatic Spanish language soap operas on the Telemundo Cable Network. From humble beginnings, big things have started to happen. In addition to his Comedy Central Presents half-hour special, Showtime s Full Frontal Comedy, Pablo was a Mad TV cast member (season 2). Pablo also has one of the top-selling comedy DVD s in the nation "Bits and Pieces." You can check Pablo out on Dish Network s SiTV, where he hosts Latino Laugh Festival: The Show. Pablo, now an L.A. resident, is busy distinguishing himself in top clubs around the country, among veteran comics who threw away the script years ago. www.dcimprov.com
  9. Comedian Nick Di Paolo is doing a special 3 night event March 2 - 4. Nick is best known for his appearances on Comedy Central's "Tough Crowd" with Colin Quinn along with his guest appearances on "The Opie and Anthony Show" His range has allowed him to perform on shows as tame as "The Tonight Show," yet as edgy as HBO's "Young Comedians Special" and "Late Night with David Letterman." He was twice nominated for an Emmy for his writing on "The Chris Rock Show." He has also had two half-hour stand-up specials of his own on Comedy Central. Not limited to stand-up and writing, he has had guest starring roles on "News Radio" and "The Sopranos," as well as in films. A critic for the Winnipeg Press said it best when he described Nick as "Gentle as a starved wolverine and as predictable as a tipsy-hop through a minefield, Nick Di Paolo is an experience constrained only slightly by the demands of stand up comedy. "Di Paolo was one of the stars of Comedy Central's "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn" and is a Howard Stern favorite. He also provides the voice for "Baby Nick" in the animated Comedy Central Series "Shorties Watchin' Shorties." Be sure to come and check this show out!! www.dcimprov.com

Little did he know when he was getting thrown out of class for being a smart-ass, that he was really training for his future career. Never quite able to fit into the so called regular routine Bailey moved to California when he was twenty-one to find out what he could or would do with his life. After looking for work for a few months he finally landed a job answering the phones at "The Comedy Store" on Sunset Boulevard. One night after work he had a few drinks and watched a show. After the show Ben hung around a while and got to swapping stories with some of the comedians. His story must have been a good one, because one of the guys who heard it asked him how long he'd been doing stand-up and invited him to perform on his show that Friday night. Petrified; Bailey said no, but luckily the guy left his number. The next afternoon it occurred to Bailey that he really had nothing going on, ...maybe this was what he was looking for. He anxiously called and agreed to do the show. That Friday Ben performed for the first time, and when he got his first laugh, he was hooked. Ten years later Bailey has performed all over the world, done his own 1/2 hour special on Comedy Central, landed a recurring role on the classic soap "One Life To Live" and been seen on The Tonight Show w/Jay Leno, The Late Late show with Craig Kilborn, Last Call with Carson Daly, Comedy Central's Premium Blend, The World Stands Up, and Tough Crowd w/Colin Quinn. He has performed at the Aspen Comedy Arts Festival in 2002 and again in 2004 while promoting the movie "Bad Meat" in which he plays an FBI agent. He has appeared at the Edinburgh Festival in 2000 and again in 2004 as well as the Masters show at the Montreal Just for Laughs festival in 2005. Bailey has guest starred on the shows Hope & Faith on ABC, Law and Order SVU and MAD TV. He is a favorite at the clubs in New York, and he is quickly making a name for himself in the Big Apple, across the country and abroad.
