Imagine you if only had one hour to tell people everything you had learned about life in an effort to keep them from screwing up theirs - the only catch is you have to make them laugh the entire time. This is the challenge comedian and New York Times best selling author Greg Behrendt has set himself in his fast, unfiltered, explosive, hilarious and ultimately spirit lifting new standup hour Love, Sex, Pudding, Death. If you ask Greg he would tell you that there is no better way to experience what he has to offer than in the live setting of a comedy club. Behrendt has some experience in the comedic advice-giving world as the co-author of two best-selling books, He’s Just Not That Into You and It’s Called A Breakup Because It’s Broken and as the host of the syndicated talkshow, The Greg Behrendt Show. His comedy and writing takes on life in a no holds barred and humorous way garnering praise from the Los Angeles Times, The New York Times and The Chicago Sun Times. His comedy resume features HBO’s Mantastic and last years Uncool, seen exclusively on Comedy Central, as well as many appearances on late night shows like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. One of the boldest and most brazen women in comedy today, Sheryl will be returning to the DC Improv July 12th thru the 15th. Not the first things that come to mind when you look at the beautiful and talented Sheryl Underwood. There's more to her than meets the eye. One of the most brilliant comics on the scene today, Underwood's claim to fame is that she dares to say what people are really thinking and makes no apologies for it. Underwood's comedy career began in 1989 when she became the first female finalist in the popular Miller Lite Comedy Search. Since then her career has continued to skyrocket. Sheryl has won a number of high profile comedy competitions including Johnny Walker Red, Funniest Woman at the Improv, Old English Comedy Crunch and BET's Comic View's Funniest Female Comedian. In 1995 Underwood was named 1st runner-up in the Bay Area Black Comedy Competition, securing Sheryl a place in history as the first female comedian- in fact, the only comedian- to place in the competition's final round three years in a row. With all these accomplishments on the comedy circuit, Sheryl began her next challenge - to conquer the world of television. When BET needed an additional host for their popular talk show, Oh Drama! Sheryl answered the call and was an immediate hit as the show's newest host. Audiences took instantly to her bluntness, wry humor and down to earth appeal, which lead to the creation of her own show Holla. The self-produced and created talk show based loosely on Bill Maher's Politically Incorrect brings together a panel of guests with vastly different opinions to discuss politics, sex, current events and various newsworthy topic- with explosive results- moderated by Underwood, Holla airs on BET Tuesday & Thursdays at 9:30 PM. The same qualities that endeared Sheryl to BET audiences have made her a favorite on shows such as Politically Incorrect, HBO's All-Star Def Comedy Jam, Showtime's Full-Frontal Comedy Show, Motown Live and Fox's Saturday Night Special. Her appeal also extends to film with roles in Bullworth and Master P's I Got the Hook Up. Not only is Sheryl one of the hardest working comedians in the country, she is also a philanthropist, donating 5% of her road earnings to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., where she is a lifetime member and has served as President of her local chapter (Omieron Rho Zeta chapter). In addition to the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Sheryl is also a member of the National Council of Negro Women and the NAACP. She also supports a number of worthy causes, including founding the African-American Female Comedian Association. With upcoming appearances on Comedy Central & Showtime's Laff-a-palooza, Sheryl continues to push the envelope: discussing sex, politics, current events and relationships. Her onstage show elicits bold testimonials from even the most conservative crowds. Whether on radio, television or in film, Sheryl is quick to use humor to convey her views in a down-to-earth, likable style. Her controversial opinions as a sexually progressive, God-fearing, staunch, black Republican woman come across loud and clear during her on-stage show much to the enjoyment of loyal fans and new enthusiasts alike. www.dcimprov.com

Eddie Gossling with Megan Mooney! One of the funniest working comedians on the road today, Eddie Gossling's humor is brilliantly original, charming and slightly self-deprecating. He's a force on stage not unlike the big ones he admires: Steve Martin, Richard Pryor and Bob Newhart. In 1995, Eddie won the HBO Stand-Up Standoff Comic Relief VII competion and in 1997, he won the US Comedy Arts Festival Talent Search competion. Shortly after, he performed at the Chicago Comedy Festival and then became the first comedian ever to perform at the Montreal Just-For-Laughs Comedy Fest as both a 'New Faces' performer and a 'Festival Gala' performer. In addition, Gossling was recently seen nationwide on Comedy Central's Premium Blend. Eddie works the clubs like nobody's business and has single-handedly redefined the words 'working comedian.' He's thankful for the many favors he's received thus far in his happy life and is looking forward to paying them back one joke after another. www.dcimprov.com

Joe Recca is a veteran comedian who started doing comedy with Dave Chappelle. Dave Chappelle and I would sit in the back of the club waiting to do our five minutes. Joe's style of comedy can be described in three words: Funny, Funny, Funny. His real life comedy comes from life experiences. Observations of growing up in the south, racism, ex wife, relationships; Joe's comedy covers it all. All ages, all races, everybody can relate to Joe's comedy. Joe's creativity comes from a love of making people laugh. No matter what race you are or what language you speak, we all laugh the same, everyone understands laughter. Joe has gone on to work with comedy greats like Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, and Tommy Davidson to name a few. He has also written for D.L. Hughley, star of the television show the Hughleys. Joe's television credits include BET's Coming to the Stage, BET Comic View, HBO Def Comedy Jam, Showtime at the Apollo, Apollo Comedy Hour, and Uptown Comedy Club. www.dcimprov.com

Schimmel's big break came when Rodney Dangerfield spotted him and invited him to appear on HBO's "Young Comedian Special." Since then he has gone on to appear on "Conan O'Brian," "Comic Strip Live," Joan Rivers, Oprah and was a writer for Fox's "In Living Color." His extraordinary rise can be traced to his unique brand of blue humor that pushes the envelope of adult humor and modern sexual attitudes. Schimmel is also a regular on the Howard Stern Show and stole the show at last year's prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Festival. His new CD was produced by William E. McEuen, the man behind the comedy careers of Steve Martin, Steven Wright and Sam Kinison. "Real humor comes from real life. That's where I draw my inspiration," says Schimmel. www.dcimprov.com

A stand-up veteran and a scene stealer in every motion picture he's been in, John Witherspoon makes his glorious return to the DC Improv for a big show, and a sure to be sold-out run from June 7th through 10th. A young Witherspoon started comedy and took to the road where he befriended another stand-up named David Letterman. The two plugged away with Witherspoon getting roles on "The Richard Pryor Show", "Good Times" and "What's Happening" and "The Jazz Singer"with Neil Diamond. David Letterman also did well. Witherspoon honed his stand-up but got his big chance when he was allowed to ad-lib during the filming of "Ratboy" with Sandra Locke and Robert Townsend. Townsend's next project was "Hollywood Shuffle" which had no script. Witherspoon's ability to improvise made him one of the most sought after comics in Hollywood. Witherspoon became one of the most imitated people on the planet by creating very memorable characters in "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka", "House Party", "Boomerang", "Vampire in Brooklyn" and especially as the pig feet eating, dog catching father in "Friday" with Ice Cube and Chris Tucker. In the majority of these scenes Witherspoon was allowed to create his own dialogue and movement, almost unheard of in the business. John Witherspoon also has a fine appreciation for clothes, art, history and travelling. David Letterman is also Godfather to one of Witherspoon's children. Do not miss this show people, "You must know how to coordinate." www.dcimprov.com
