  1. Now I see why everyone is fighting like cats, and dogs about ward 3. I did a google search on ward 3. I admit it, I used google. I rarely use google for anything; I am not a big google fan. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  2. http://news.cincypost.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar.../602250319/1001 Associated Press CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuela plans to prohibit Continental Airlines and Delta Air Lines from flying into this South American nation and is restricting flights by a third major U.S. carrier, American Airlines, the head of the nation's federal aviation agency said. Francisco Paz, president of the National Aviation Institute, said the action was taken because the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration had established a similar ban on some Venezuelan carriers serving routes to the United States 10 years ago due to safety violations. Venezuela said the U.S. has failed to recognize improvements since then. The orders would take effect on March 1, Paz told the local Globovision television channel. In Washington, State Department spokesman Adam Ereli said the decision was unjustified and unwarranted and violated the 1953 Air Transport Services Agreement between the United States and Venezuela. He said the United States is urging Venezuela to respect the agreement. Relations between Caracas and Washington have been tense in recent weeks with U.S. officials voicing concerns over the health of Venezuela's democracy and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez threatening to cut off oil exports to the United States. Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines currently operates a daily route from Simon Bolivar international Airport to Atlanta. Continental Airlines has a daily round trip to Caracas from Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and a weekly round trip to Caracas from Newark, N.J. "We are very disappointed by this unilateral action by the Venezuelan government and we are working closely with the U.S. departments of State and Transportation, as well as the airlines who received similar notice, to resolve the issue as quickly as possible," said Gina Laughlin, a spokeswoman for Delta Air Lines Inc. Continental Airlines Inc. is negotiating with Venezuelan authorities "to try to resolve the situation immediately and amicably," the carrier said Friday in a statement.
  3. When I landed in the wheelchair, I got to KNOW who my friends were. Some of them are, and were Gay Republicans. This Republican Finds DC DEEP THROATS Comments to Be incredibly insulting, demeaning, childish, infantile, and few expletives that "as tempting as it may be I will not use in here". So can some one kick dc deep throat out of here. PLEASE, PRETTY, PRETTY PLEASE. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I am not gay, but I do HONOR my friendships.
  4. http://www.newkerala.com/news2.php?action=fullnews&id=14219 NEW YORK: The Spanish-language edition of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," is finally being released, it was reported Tuesday. The sixth book in author J.K. Rowlings' series will be available worldwide in Spanish Thursday, WINS-AM, New York, reported. The book was released in English back in July. "Harry Potter y el Misterio del Principe," will have three slightly different translations for readers in Spain and Argentina, and the rest of Latin America, the radio station said. The version released for U.S. residents will be the Latin American version, said Libereria Lectorum, the Spanish-language New York bookstore and division of Scholastic, the U.S. publisher for "Harry Potter." The bookstore will host a special reception celebrating the release on Thursday as well, the radio station said.
  5. Oooop's, I forgot to add my qoute to it, but there it is -----> [quote "The greatest fight that you have to fight, and you have to fight it every day, is the fight just to be your self. -- ee cummings." Src: Stephen Savage, US, 31 Jan 2001.
  6. NelsonJacobsen, you have missed some fun times onlineing. I got on in 85. You missed a good time in terms of onlineing. In 87 When Republicans, and democrats worked together. <~~~~ now those were the good ole days on the net.
  7. Truthseeker, I would have just kicked off the gay hater, and that would have been it "End of Story", instead you guys played politics with it, and accused certain parts of the d.c. police department in being in the pocket of a politician "with out any proof I might add". You have been trying to end people's careers, and thinking that this is just some type of game. Look I'm from a different type of net then you guys are from. The net that I grew up with, me and other's treated people with respect till proven other wise. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ truthseeker Posted Yesterday, 11:27 AM "Yes, obviously. And they should be equipped to know exactly WHO their candidates are, and what they're capable of, before doing so. I'm unaware that discussion of politicians' behavior is customarily limited only to people who vote in their political subdivision. If a media outlet does a story on this or any other contest, I suppose you'd assert that it was inappropriate unless the author were a voter in that district. This argument is utterly specious. Unethical behavior must be exposed, regardless of the geographic location. Plus, it's a public discussion board, man. People can post whatever they want. I'd encourage you to be a little more upset by someone who uses it to post homophobic speech and libel private citizens (to cite just two examples) instead. THAT would be more appopriate avenue for your discomfort, it seems to me."
  8. For the mudslinging in the topic "District of Columbia Politics?" WOW!! The voters of D.C. will vote for whom ever can best represent them in ward 3, it is not for any of us out siders to get involved in their politics.
  9. So you, and your friends pick ward 3 straight out of a hat, and then decide to play a nasty game of politics??? Even I would have a hard time swallowing that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  10. The article is really Long so I only posted a little bit of it, the rest you can find at this link ----> http://www.astrobio.net/news/modules.php?o...order=0&thold=0 It really is a fun read for anyone interested. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Conspiracy theorists will readily tell you that the U.S. military is hiding alien corpses in a secret facility in the Nevada desert. But paleontologist and University of Washington geology professor Peter Ward thinks that scientists should be looking for a different type of alien life on earth: alien microbes. Ward is the author of several popular books about astrobiology, including the controversial Rare Earth, co-authored with Donald Brownlee. In his latest book, Life as We Do Not Know It, Ward addresses an issue often avoided by astrobiologists. Although all known life on Earth has a similar DNA-based chemistry, life found on other worlds may not. In chapter 6 of Life as We Do Not Know It, reprinted below, Ward takes this argument one step further. There may, he says, be unfamiliar life forms on Earth, as well. And scientists would be wise to search for them.
  11. Truthseeker; When I was in the Old Executive office Building I was talking to a person there, and I said off the cuff to one of the people there that politics is rough, and the person looked at me and laughed and said "you should have seen it when the democrats were here, they were Sadistic with each other". I honestly did not believe it at the time thinking to myself that the person was pulling my leg, TILL I saw you democrats attacking each other in here. Me being a Republican I must thankyou, I can use all of your posts "which I have copied" against your side of the Isle "democrats".
  12. http://business.bostonherald.com/technolog...rticleid=127076 NEW HAVEN, Conn. - On MySpace.com, teenagers can find kindred spirits who share their love of sports, their passion for photography or their crush on a Hollywood star. They can also find out where their online friends live, where they attend school, even what they look like. And so can adults. Parents, school administrators and police are increasingly worried that teens are finding trouble online at sites like MySpace, the leader of the social-networking sites that encourage users to build larger and larger circles of friends. Police in Middletown, Conn., are investigating recent reports that as many as seven local girls were sexually assaulted by men in their 20s who contacted them through MySpace pretending to be teenagers. One girl allowed a man into her room while her parents were home, police said, underscoring just how in the dark parents often are about one of the most popular Web activities for teens today. There are other reports like these scattered around the country, prompting some parents and schools to equate the likes of MySpace with the Internet’s red-light district, even as many experts believe that the worries are greater than the actual dangers. Joseph Dooley is among those who has heard it all before. A retired FBI agent who supervised the agency’s first undercover Internet task force in New England, Dooley remembers when America Online chat rooms were the rage. Teens posted detailed profiles of themselves and chatted with any of AOL’s subscribers. Chat rooms soon gave way to services like MySpace, but Dooley said the rules haven’t changed and parents need to become more engaged. "Let the kids know, on the Internet, you don’t know who you’re talking to," Dooley said. "Parents aren’t the friends of their kids. Parents needs to know and observe what their kids are doing." That can be daunting for working parents. Keeping tabs on the kids used to mean knowing where they went after school, not whom they talked to in their bedrooms
  13. There really is a bright side to all of this. I in ALL my time on the net (which is vast) have never seen this Level of Sadism to which you people are taking this too. Democrat Verses Democrat Politics “WOW”.
  14. When al gore makes statements of the likes that he is making against the United States, he’s not hurting just us Republicans, but everyone. (Ya know like everyone else IN THE UNITED STATES?) It was like in the last election; When the democrats lost, and there was an International Election where the U.S. could help guide Latin America. The democrats “just to show that they still have power” came out against the United States Position. It really does get to a point where you really got to wonder on WHO’S SIDE THE DEMOCRATS ARE ON??????????????????????????? Politics is one thing, but Long Term United States Interests is one thing that no one should EVER play with. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.michnews.com/artman/publish/article_11717.shtml By NewsWires MichNews.com Feb 13, 2006 Former Vice President Al Gore is being accused of inciting violence against the US by making comments such as the US government had committed ‘terrible abuses’ against Arabs living in America after 9/11 attacks, and that most Americans did not support such treatment. Mr. Gore, who lost the 2000 election to the current US president, did not cite one example of this abuse. Mr. Gore also said that President Bush's administration "was playing into Al Qaeda’s hands by routinely blocking Saudi applications for US visas." He made these comments in Saudi Arabia, a nation that exports radical Islam -- Wahabbism -- to many nations. Some Saudis also fund terrorism and terrorist groups, but Mr. Gore to declined to mention those facts. “The thoughtless way in which visas are now handled, that is a mistake,” Mr Gore said at the Jeddah Economic Forum. “The worst thing we can possibly do is to cut off the channels of friendship and mutual understanding between Saudi Arabia and the United States.” In response to Mr. Gore's comments in Saudi Arabia, the National Association of Chiefs of Police, a 14,000-member organization representing the interests of America's law enforcement commanders, released the following statement: As a result of his obvious hatred towards the President of the United States, former Vice President Al Gore has crossed the line of diplomatic decency by denigrating his own country within the Islamic world. Are there not enough problems in the Middle East? Does Mr. Gore wish to inflame more hatred towards the United States in the Arab world. Mr. Gore has made serious accusations against his own country without providing evidence or proof of his outrageous allegations. Our association has several members who are Arabs and not one has complained of being abused by any level of the US government. One of our vice presidents, Jim Kouri, a 27-year veteran, is an Arab-American and he finds Gore's comments not only offensive but also wildly exaggerated and inappropriate during a time of war. The former US vice-president told the largely Saudi audience that Arabs in the United States had been “indiscriminately rounded up, often on minor charges of overstaying a visa or not having a green card in proper order, and held in conditions that were just unforgivable.” Visa violations were part of the devastating 9-11 attacks on America and its people -- attacks Mr. Gore seems oblivious to. Also, visa overstays in America are an enormous problem. Is Mr. Gore saying America should not enforce its laws? Gore further said there have been terrible abuses and it’s wrong. He said that it does not represent the desires or wishes or feelings of the majority of the citizens of his country. Where is Mr. Gore's evidence of abuses? He should bring the evidence to the attention of the Department of Justice or the US Congress. And has Mr. Gore spoken to the majority of Americans? Why didn't Mr. Gore tell his audience that Saudi Arabia exports radical Islam to countries throughout the world and that members of the royal family finance some terrorist groups? Was he only interested in inciting hatred towards his own country? Al Gore's comments should be condemned by Republicans, Democrats and Independents alike. We condemn them and find his shrill comments loathsome and ugly.
  15. Enjoy the article, Ladies, and gentlemen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.irishdev.com/NewsArticle.aspx?id=1898 Technology : Joanne Kelly 7 February 2006 Safer Internet Day 2006 Today February 7th, Safer Internet Day will be celebrated by 95 organisations in 36 countries across the world, including 24 EU countries, Russia, Argentina, New Zealand and the USA. Organised by Information Society and Media Commissioner Viviane Reding, Safer Internet Day 2006, features a blogathon or "blog-marathon" during which wide range of organisations and special guests will promote internet safety by making postings and inviting comments from visitors, children, schools and parents. The geographical focus of the 24hr blog will move steadily westwards through the global time zones, and include content in different languages. In her welcome message to launch the blogathon, Commissioner Reding writes "Just like in the real world, it is important that we respect each other - and the law - when we are online. The blogathon is an opportunity to discuss these issues." Although 50% parents in EU25 declare that their child has access to the internet, only 20% have set rules regarding its use. This is the first result of a Eurobarometer survey on Safer Internet run in December 2005 and which will be published at the beginning of March. Top rules mentioned by parents concern "not allowing access to certain websites" (55%), and "controlling time spent on the internet" (53%). Less frequent are parents rules for "not allowing children to meet in person someone first contacted on the internet" (35%) and "not allowing downloads of music or films" (19%). According to Commissioner Reding, "Parents need to teach their children to recognise the risks that can arise when using the Internet, and what to do when a situation makes them feel uncomfortable. This needs to become common sense, and as natural as teaching children basic road safety skills from the day the set foot outside of the home." The Safer Internet Day has become an annual event. Other activities this year include "I will teach you" events where pupils teach adults about their activities on the Internet and via GSM. The Commission's Safer Internet Programme has been running since 1999, and aims to equip parents and teachers with the knowledge and tools they need to ensure internet safety. The current 4-year programme (200508) has a budget of EUR45 million to combat illegal and harmful internet content. It also covers other media, such as videos, and explicitly addresses the fight against racism, and e-mail "spam". Current projects and activities include: 21 hotlines for users to report illegal content. In 2005 in Spain, the hotline Protegeles led national police to carry out 37 operations, identifying over 1700 people handling illegal content. These led to arrests in Spain and information being sent to Interpol for further investigation. 23 nodes for raising awareness of safer use of the Internet, with coordination and training from the European Schoolnet, the University of Central Lancashire and the Norwegian Media Authority; a quality labelling scheme for Web sites; pilot projects in self-regulation, aiming to combat spam and to extend content ratings to online games benchmarking of filtering software Safer Internet Forum: a platform of discussion between the industry, child safety organisations and public bodies. In 2005 the Forum concentrated on the emerging safety issues raised by the use of mobile phones by children. The Safer Internet Day is organised by the European internet safety network INSAFE, which is coordinated by European Schoolnet and co-funded by the European Commissions Safer Internet Programme. 20. Giovanni Luchese Posted Yesterday, 08:41 PM I read much of this now and it is so silly but fun. I guess everyone here graduated (paid their way) from the same school as Bush. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Giovanni; I was in politics myself, and this is NOT normal for politics. By the Way; I am a Republican. I am also Latino. I Thank God that my group “Republicans” does not act like this. And to the Cop that these democrats are picking on; you have my heart felt sympathy.
  21. I think that we can all be sure that he will be confirmed. As a Moderate Republican myself; I am very happy to see Judge Alito make it to the highest bench in the Land.
