Even if he did accept money from Jack Quinn (for the sake of argument) it doesn't mean that he "hates gays." The blog attached to Brooks' own website (brooks2006.com) shows his actual position on Gay rights.

 

Words can't express my disgust for the hypocrisy of someone whose alias postings here have been routinely, revoltingly anti-gay (see posts by Deep Throat, Lucifer, Grim Reaper, etc.)
