Taking Poetry To The Street - A District Of Columbia Public Library Celebration Of Poetry. April 3, 2004. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library 901 G St. NW Washington, DC. The District of Columbia Public Library will present a free Street Fair at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library. G Street will be closed between 9th and 10th for the event. Family fun and activities for all ages, from children to adults. Poetry slams for middle school and high school students. Performance poetry, films, musical performances. Poetry workshops, jazz. Poetry books, food and drinks for sale. With Kojo Nnamdi and Josephine Reed as Masters of Ceremonies.Local and nationally known poets will recite their poetry, including E. Ethelbert Miller, Kenneth Carroll and DJ Renegade.The DC Area Writing Project will present awards to DC High School students for poetry writing.
