Today, Mayor Adrian Fenty announced that $2.8 billion dollars will be spent on our children, their education and more.

A careful analysis of this proposed budget shows itself to be in fact a bail out program to benefit developers and others who are suppose to build new schools, re-build old schools, provide materials to our schools, and to provide other services but little or any of it is designated to improve student performance or to improve the social standing of our children.

 

Voters need to read between the lines and they will see massive pork and a bail out for the local, sagging economy affecting developers.

I see an increase of over $40 million in funding at the school and classroom level for DCPS and $5 million more for summer youth employment. Construction costs will always be outrageous.
