Dec 5 - 9: TOM RHODES

The DC Improv

Recommended Posts

The comedy career of Tom Rhodes began at the age of 17, when he stood alone on stage, for the first time, and created laughter. Since that night at a Florida comedy club, he has been willfully following his bliss. By the age of 22, he was already a solid comedy club headliner across the country and his reputation for testing the limits of his audiences was growing as rapidly as his hair.

Rhodes has been seen regularly on national comedy shows including Fox’s "Comic Strip Live," A&E’s "Caroline’s Comedy Hour" and Comedy Central’s "Two Drink Minimum." From his appearances on Comedy Central, Tom was signed to do a series of 30-second image spots promoting the network which showcased his unique ‘90's hippie style. These spots also led to the first-ever development deal for Comedy Central, which allowed Tom to create his own special titled "Viva Vietnam: A White Trash Adventure Tour," commemorating the 20th anniversary of the end of the war.

In 1996, Tom brought his hippie-style comedy to prime-time network television, starring in the NBC sitcom, Mr. Rhodes. Once his acting contract had expired, he moved to New York, where he promptly returned to his first love of stand up. During this time, he made regular television appearances on "Later with Craig Kilborn," the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno," and "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher," to name a few.

Tom continues to perform at comedy clubs, colleges and theatres across the country, and has recently completed a half-hour special "Comedy Central Presents" that is currently airing on Comedy Central.
