A DC CONGRESSIONAL VOTE

vs.

REPUBLICANS AND BLUE DOG DEMOCRATS

Have you ever been on a date where you were sure at the end of the night it would not end with just a kiss, but you would get invited in for a night cap and whoopee only to make it to the door and not get even a kiss?

Well, DC’s belief that we are now closer than ever to getting a vote in Congress might just turn out like I have described above.

The fact that the Democrats have taken control of both houses of Congress is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. In other words, those Democrats that prevailed were mainly what are called Blue Dogs and they are not very likely to support a vote in Congress for the District.

Several local newspapers pointed out that many of these Blue Dogs coming to town in January 2007 are opposed to abortion, gay rights, gun control and other things that liberal Democrats stand for.

Congress cannot in good conscience grant a vote to the 560,000 people of DC and not grant it to the 5,700,000 U.S. citizens in American Samoa, Guam, Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands at the same time without risking resentment and discord.
