DC GROOVES ROCKS SEPTEMBER WITH

DISCO IN THE DISTRICT & MOTOWN IN THE DOWNTOWN

PRESENTED BY THE

D.C. COMMISSION ON THE ARTS & HUMANITIES

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 7, 2006–The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities invites the Washington community to celebrate September with DC Grooves. The Commission will sponsor two high energy dance parties on September 22nd and 29th. The shows, which are free and open to the public, will be held on grounds of the Woodrow Wilson Plaza at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center located at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.

The series kicks of with Disco in the District featuring a star studded line up of dance favorites: Rose Royce, Evelyn Champagne King, Rob Base with DJ EZ Rock and the queen of disco dance music Martha Wash. The show starts at 7:00 p.m. and concludes at 9:00 p.m.

On September 29, 2006 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. the festivities continue with Motown in the Downtown. The Temptations Review featuring noted Temptation and crowd favorite Dennis Edwards will perform the greatest hits from one of America’s most famous bands.

DC Grooves is the brainchild of Tony Gittens, the Executive Director of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. “These dance parties will add to the cultural and social aspects of Washington, D.C. By presenting DC Grooves, we are showing that the city’s downtown area is a place to have fun and engage in the many activities that Washington has to offer,” explained Gittens.

DC Grooves precedes the city’s 3rd annual Dance DC Festival which is sponsored by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. The festival features a splendid array of dance performance and workshops from September 29 to October 1.
