No truer words have ever been spoken than what Gary Imhoff and Dorothy Brizill wrote in this above titled story found in [The Mail 2-7-07] http://www.dcwatch.com/themail/2007/07-02-07.htm but more so as to their description about Councilwoman Mary Cheh whom I have found not only to be nasty but very dishonest and vindictive if you dare to disagree with her. Yet, Mary M. Cheh is nothing but a puppet of local developers who hand picked her from the field of ward 3 candidates that ran as they saw her as being the right person to do their bidding on the council just as they saw Fenty all in the name of what Gary Imhoff describes as an attempt for massive land grab and budget control. Luckily, I think that Councilwoman Mary M. Cheh on the road to fill her ego made a string of serious errors which I am now having addressed by the US Attorney, FBI and DC Inspector General. Those mistakes were: One, Mary Cheh agreed to allow an unregistered and illegal political action committee known in ward 3 as Friends of Joe Sternlieb which was made up of Joe Sternlieb and his wife interim Attorney General Linda J. Singer plus 25 other people to run her campaign committee and solicit contributions; and Two, Mary Cheh accepted around $25k to $60k in in-kind contributions from a developer PN Hoffman Company in the form of a massive discount in rent on her campaign office at 4921 Wisconsin Avenue, NW where she claims to have paid only $3,000.00 for a six month stay in a beautiful 1,900 sq. ft. office space. Of course, Mary Cheh and her groupies are attempting at this moment to undo her errors disingenuously, but as the District government and its rampant dishonesty goes; For every friend a council member has inside DC Government, they have an equal number of enemies ready to snitch them out to the good guys like me This is just the tip of the iceberg of what Mary Cheh did. Add to this the madness that Gary and Dorothy have outlined in their criticism of other on the DC City Council and is it any wonder that I scream – CONGRESS, say no to a vote and statehood for DC. It is because I do not want to see a corrupt and nasty DC Government free of its daddy’s rule. Indeed, Gary and Dorothy are right when they write “Under the chairmanship of Vincent Gray, this is the worst city council

MARY M. CHEH The Nastiest and Most Disagreeable Council Member In DC History By: Gary Imhoff and Dorothy Brizill Under the chairmanship of Vincent Gray, this is the worst city council that the District of Columbia has ever had -- and we remember the abysmal city councils of the 1970's and 1980's. But even in those days, when city council members were irresponsible and several of them were seriously stupid, at least they understood how to run public hearings, and they realized that public hearings were intended to give citizens of the District an opportunity to speak with their elected public servants. Their meetings maintained a certain minimum level of civility, decorum, and respect toward citizens. By contrast, this council is angry and mean. It is contemptuous of and hostile toward citizens and its members don't want to hear anything that differs with their preconceived opinions. Last week, columnist Adrienne Washington described council members' misbehavior during their hearing on Mayor Fenty's school takeover bill: "witnesses, especially Superintendent Clifford B. Janey, were berated, badgered, interrupted, and not allowed to answer questions during a kangaroo-court-style inquest" (http://washingtontimes.com/metro/20070201-105011-2766r.htm). But the hearing last week was just a warm-up for the disgraceful behavior of council members today. The public witnesses today were overwhelmingly opposed to Fenty's takeover, though there were some takeover supporters who were warmly welcomed by the council members. Councilmember Mary Cheh, who is rapidly shaping up to be the nastiest and most disagreeable councilmember in DC history, made a point of assailing every witness who opposed the takeover with the dishonest argument that if they didn't support Fenty, they supported the status quo and didn't want the schools to improve. She deceitfully argued that the burden was on those who opposed the mayor's takeover to explain why they did not support it. Council members Barry, Thomas, and Catania weren't far behind Cheh. They tried to outdo each other in their rudeness; they yelled at witnesses, misrepresented their testimony, refused to confront or even admit their arguments, and refused to let witnesses respond when they mischaracterized their testimony and subjected them to personal abuse. Council Chairman Gray's chairing of the hearing set the atmosphere and encouraged the hostile attacks on citizens. Gray tolerated the most vicious of personal attacks from the council members upon those who dared to testify, and he denied anyone who had been attacked, or whose testimony had been distorted and misrepresented by council members, the right to respond. The council is shirking its job. It's not doing its own research into the failures of urban school systems that have had mayoral takeovers; it's deliberately turning a blind eye to the failure of the Bloomberg takeover in New York City; and it's ignoring the many examples of urban school systems (for example, Charlotte, Austin, and Houston, among others) that have progressed and improved markedly under independent school boards. It has refused to seek the advice of the numerous educational organizations headquartered in Washington, because it doesn't want to know the facts. Instead, it's ignoring and insulting citizens, students and their parents, teachers, and anyone who knows anything about the school system, and rushing headfirst into a debacle -- all because it wants to control the money and the contracts and the land that the Board of Education controls now. This meanness of the council and its mistreatment of citizens will have long-term consequences for the government of our city. The degradation of public hearings of the city council is designed to discourage citizen participation in and control of our government -- just as the takeover of the school board is designed to eliminate citizen participation in and control of our schools. The behavior of these council members is not just a disgrace; it is a deliberate attempt to denigrate, if not destroy, an important component of our city's governing process.

DC Council Members David Catania and Mary Cheh forot to tell you that they received money from MERCK Pharmaceuticals for their political campaigns and that is why they are promoting their new wonder drug Gardasil. Also Catania and Cheh forgot to tell all the following: Merck & Co., plagued by lawsuits over its drug Vioxx, and recently accused of tampering with that drug's safety data, is desperately looking for new blockbuster products. One place they are conducting their search is in the largely overlooked market for vaccines. Three New Vaccines Merck hopes to turn its fiscal fortunes around with the help of three new vaccines in the FDA regulatory pipeline: Gardasil, a drug intended to protect women from four kinds of human papillomavirus that accounts for the lion's share of cervical cancer cases Zostavax, a vaccine for shingles Rotateq, an oral remedy for common gastrointestinal illnesses in children Gardasil is the biggest potential sales generator of the new products, especially if U.S. health officials put the vaccine on lists that recommend preteen and adolescent immunization schedules. Such lists are often used by state and local governments to mandate vaccinations before school admission. Whenever you see or hear the word "breakthrough" in a medical news report, duck for cover. Chances are someone’s imagination is hard at work. The latest medical frenzy involved a vaccine aimed at cervical cancer. The study was published in the November 21 issue of The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). The Reuters News Agency provided this lead: "A vaccine against a cervical cancer-causing virus can protect young women from infection - a success researchers hope will eventually allow them to prevent many cases of cervical cancer." The virus referred to is the human papillomavirus (HPV). Reuters quoted Dr. Christopher P. Crum of Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston as saying: "This is a great study." Let’s move on. CBSNews.com’s headline asked the question: "Major Cancer Breakthrough?" Then the report proceeded to quote researchers in this manner: "It’s really the first time that a vaccine has been shown to prevent directly a pre-cancerous condition and indirectly a cancerous condition." That quote was attributed to Dr. Carol Brown, a gynacologic oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Over at the New York Times, at least the headline was more circumspect: "Experimental Vaccine Appears To Prevent Cervical Cancer." The "deck" or the line underneath the main headline might have read this way: "Appearances Can Be Deceiving." However, the Times chose to report: "The vaccine works by making people immune to a sexually transmitted virus [human papillomavirus] that causes many cases of the disease." The Times quoted Dr. Laura A. Koutsky of the University of Washington in Seattle, the study’s director, as saying: "These are tremendous results." The Chicago Tribune bought the study too. Its lead paragraph referred to the fact that "after decades of failure," scientists showed early success in preventing human papilloma infection, "which is linked to cervical cancer." Really? First, Some Background And A Question Raised Cervical cancer, arising in the lining of the cervix, affects about 13,000 women in the U.S. each year. About 4,000 die. Worldwide, a half million get the disease and 225,000 die. Back in the 1970s, herpes simplex virus (HSV) was proposed as the sexually-transmitted cause of cervical cancer, based mostly on population studies that showed a correlation of the disease with HSV DNA. That approach shifted to HPV in the 1980s, and over the years population studies set the pace for the now well-accepted view that cervical cancer is strongly related to the transmission of HPV. This is a group of more than 100 viruses, about 30 of which are said to be linked to cervical cancer. Of these 30 or so, HPV-16 is said to be found in 50 percent of cervical cancers. HPV-18 accounts for another 20 percent. In addition to the population studies that link HPV to cervical cancer, there is, for example, research showing that HPV viral DNA can be found integrated in the genetic structure of cervical cancers. Back in 1992, however, a question was raised about the dominant and increasingly entrenched theory that HPV causes cervical cancer. It came from Peter Duesberg and Jody Schwartz, molecular biologists at the University of California at Berkeley. Among the various issues they raised about the acceptance of HPV as the cause of cervical cancer was their fundamental concern that there was a lack of consistent HPV DNA sequences and consistent HPV gene expression in tumors that were HPV-positive. They instead suggested that "rare spontaneous or chemically induced chromosome abnormalities which are consistently observed in both HPV and HSV DNA-negative and positive cervical cancers induce cervical cancer." In short, Duesberg and Schwartz were pointing to the possibility that "carcinogens may be primary inducers of abnormal cell proliferation rather than HPV or HSV." And here’s the key point: "Since proliferating cells [cancer cells dividing wildly] would be more susceptible to infection than resting cells, the viruses would just be indicators rather than causes of abnormal proliferation." The concept they raised back in 1992 is still relevant today; only science has gone on to assume that causation of cervical cancer has been well established. Even the National Cancer Institute (NCI) says that "direct" causation has not been demonstrated; however, the NCI and just about everyone else works with the principle that it has been established. Lip service is paid to other possible factors that may be involved in cervical cancer such as environmental conditions, including smoking. Even dietary factors -- particularly low levels of Vitamin A and folate -- have been suggested as associated with a risk for cervical cancer. But once a vaccine to prevent HPV infection is raised as a weapon to prevent cervical cancer, then it’s pretty clear that the medical Establishment has gone all the way in accepting a theory. And it’s also quite evident in some of the comments listed above that have been made to reporters. The headline to the accompanying editorial to the study in the NEJM screams out: "The Beginning of the End for Cervical Cancer?" This editorial is more or less an ode to the research published. But the published research doesn’t necessarily deserve any praise. Why? Because the study is a disgrace. A Worthless Study When I first reviewed the study, I couldn’t believe the NEJM was putting this research on such a high footing -- and that includes the embarrassing editorial. Essentially this is what the study is about: Of 2,392 young women who were entered into the study, 859 were excluded from the final data analysis -- some for technical reasons and the vast majority because they were actually found to be infected with HPV-16 before getting the vaccine. Of 1,533 women who remained, half were given the vaccine and half the placebo shot. The results were as follows: No one who was vaccinated developed an HPV-16 infection or a precancerous growth. Of those who received the placebo shot, 41 women became infected with HPV-16, and nine of them had precancerous cervical growths. On the surface, at least interesting for an early study. But those results became the focus of great jubilation. But I’ll tell you this: It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that the study’s methodology is flawed to such a degree that it doesn’t even deserve to be published in some throwaway journal. But then again, the NEJM has, of late, become a depository for bad science. Still, given that the entire world of health journalism seems to have piled on the bravos for this study and just about every vaccine specialist has come out of the woodwork to applaud yet another vaccine effort, I figured that I would seek out someone who has the guts to face up to the bilge that masquerades as science. I therefore got hold of Howard Urnovitz, who is a scientist dealing in molecular issues and a regular contributor to redflagsweekly.com. His first reply was that "this is a poorly designed study that fits all-too-well into the legacy of medical incompetence called vaccine research." Here is what Urnovitz had to say, pretty well reaching the same conclusions that I reached upon careful review of this study: "These investigators initially enrolled 2,392 women to take part in the study. Immediately, 36 percent were disqualified primarily because they had detectable HPV markers, according to the study’s authors, who determined HPV-detectability by either antibody or PCR testing. In other words, the study selected for women who showed some sort of robust natural immunity that kept them from expressing the HPV markers. Then the study used a cancer detection method which is known to be inaccurate, with a rate of false negative test results that ranges from 1 percent to 93 percent, despite the fact that it is the only test currently available in the United States to screen women for signs of cervical cancer. (A false negative result means that women who have cervical cancer or precancerous tissues are not being identified when they have a Pap smear.)" The women in this study are only monitored for HPV infection if they show a positive Pap smear. But since even the CDC recognizes that the Pap test produces a wide range of false negative results, the HPV study’s foundation -- the Pap test -- is so unreliable that the rest of the study is rendered highly suspect. "Also, the HPV test is poorly designed. A positive result was defined as any PCR signal that exceeded the background PCR level associated with an HPV-negative sample of human DNA. This is a risky protocol because PCR tests are plagued with false positive reactions (a positive signal that is not a true detection of the target). Since the authors show no data or reference to data on a secondary test that confirms the gene sequence of a positive signal, they cannot conclude that they are measuring HPV." So here is what the study really amounts to. Again, I’ll defer to Urnovitz because he lays it very cleanly on the line: "The proper conclusion of this study should be: Administration of this HPV-16 vaccine reduced the incidence of an uncharacterized PCR signal from a poorly defined cohort which was strongly biased toward a natural immunity. Finally, press suggestions or those from the authors that young girls will soon be given a vaccine to prevent cervical cancer are ridiculously premature. As an aside (make of it what you will), given the great new honesty in medicine these days, it was noted in the NEJM that "some co-authors on the study are with Merck Research Laboratories which developed the vaccine and provided the funding."

Fenty, Cheh and others would be taken more seriously if their kids were attending DC Public schools not private ones.

GARDASIL® may in fact be a great drug but my opposition to it being given on a mandatory basis is: It has not been widely tested as most drugs have been; It has not been tested on enough people; It has not been tested long enough before it received FDA approval; That pharmaceutical companies will rush drugs to market out of the sheer profit of it all; The FDA has in the past approved far too many drugs, far too soon which had to be pulled because of unforeseen side affects and some even deadly like VIOXX and a long list of others; and The FDA does not always do its own set of tests but relies on findings done by the pharmaceutical industry and/or local medical schools/labs. Too often we rush to judgment out of emotion and not out of well thought out processes. My previous wife Antonetta Cisneros-Rees (Niece of former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros) died at 39 from cervical cancer but her’s was not associated with any seen HPV present. Usually, most women do not die from cancer of the Cervix but only after it has spread to other parts of the body but usually that spread is to the bladder, liver or lungs. Between HIV, HPV, Herpes, Hepatitis. C and a few others, it seems like 50% of the American population has been bitten by some STD that will either kill or leave them in an on again/off again discomfort. As for the jokers who think any preventative matter will encourage sexual activity, that is absurd as people were having sex quietly long before the invention of the condom. Rick Rosendall of the GLAA pointed out to me this morning that Lesbians have a higher rate of cervical cancer than Heterosexual women. If true, then this is a factor that both Merck and Glaxo-Smith did not give heavy consideration to in their research on various levels. Assuming that these Lesbians did not have relations with men, this would alter the causation factor greatly and demand further studies as to how the transmission HPV took place and other matters. It is all quiet complex to discuss here but I think it is too soon to require inoculations against HPV as a matter of law.

WHY DO POLITICIANS LIE TO US TO GET OUR VOTE
Psycho replied to Psycho's topic in District of Columbia Politics
Luke, If a political candidate is pushing an issue(s) because of personal experiences as I have stated, it is no different than if you came out in support of something because your child say had a disease. In other words, I did not make it an issue, she did and I am just expounding on it. -
Recently I wrote on several blogs and/or message boards the following: Recently, the State of Texas has begun requiring that all teenage girls be inoculated against cervical cancer with the vaccine, GARDASIL® [Quadrivalent Human Papilloma virus (Types 6, 11, 16, 18) ] created by Merck Laboratories. NBC NEWS in New York reported on February 3, 2007 that National organizations opposed to state mandated inoculations do so for four reasons, and they are: 1. There is no emergency present that would require state mandated inoculations; 2. That GARDASIL® has not been around long enough to be proven to actually protect woman from cervical cancer; 3. That requiring such under the belief it will afford such protection will send the wrong message to teenage girls; and 4. Those pushing such legislation on the state levels have been found to be or will be on the payroll of Merck and/or made promises of future campaign contributions/support. In light of the foregoing revealed on NBC NEWS, the people of DC have a right to ask Council members Catania and Cheh what promises were made directly or indirectly to them by MERCK or its alter-egos to introduce B17-0030 "HPV Vaccination & Reporting Act of 2007" now that legislators have been exposed on NBC NEWS as being. Low and behold, Councilwoman Mary Cheh confirmed in her January 31, 2007, OCF Form 16 filing with the DC Office of Campaign Finance that she had in fact received on January 2, 2007 prior to her co-sponsoring B17-0030 "HPV Vaccination & Reporting Act of 2007 a political contribution after the general election from the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers in exchange for promoting GARDASIL®. While there is nothing illegal in what Cheh has done, it does support what many around the country are saying and that is, MERCK is buying politicians off to sponsor legislation notwithstanding the fact that there is no evidence that GARDASIL® is or will be effective in nullifying the Quadrivalent Human Papilloma virus, what the side effects may be and more. Isn’t it nice to know that for a few lousy buck that our political leaders are ready to play GOD with our lives knowing that there have been so many drugs like VIOXX that the FDA quickly approved and bingo, look at the Hell it caused people. What would Catania and Cheh say if this GARDASIL® becomes one more drug that the FDA quickly approved that causes harm to our daughters like maybe birth defects in their children or other matters. Catania and Cheh need to put people before their own profitability!

Despite the criticism I have received along the way in life, I am always coming out on top because fools attack me and later on sit back in shame that they did not see what I warned them of before it hit. Already a lot of people are not happy with Mayor Fenty for a variety of reasons even those who said they voted for him. I warned people in my ward 3 race that Sam Brooks was a dirt bag and Mary Cheh is a sleazy lawyer and a good number of people in ward 3 and about 600 to be exact and counting said they maybe should have taken me more seriously. In the next four years, I am sure DC will not re-elect Fenty or Cheh and I will again be proven to have been right and my detractors sulking in silence. Communist Leader Austermuhle has been silent and seen less and less, Bfrank ditto, Truthseeker ditto, Doc Sodomy Summersgill has been seen less and less city wide. What can I say, those who are ill intended have a short life.

District Gets Right to Vote in the House
Psycho replied to BlingBling's topic in District of Columbia Politics
I am opposed to the District getting a vote in Congress or statehood! Why? DC is a disgrace to the rest of the USA. It cannot afford itself without matching federal funding. It is probably the most corrupt city in America today. Yada yada yada. MOST IMPORTANTLY, DC was never meant to be a state and when people chose to live here, they accepted that fact and now need to shut up or move back where they came from. -
KEEPING VOTERS INTENTIONALLY IN THE DARK Often when you read a proposed bill introduced by a member(s) of the DC City Council, the language is so vague that you wonder what they are really saying. As a matter of fact, the bill(s) often in themselves do not lend to what the member(s) of the council say they are trying to achieve. Each bill that the DC City Council has proposed often is not accompanied by a legislative intent and/or platform for execution so that voters can get into the mind of the council. This vagueness leads voters who follow these bills to do a lot of guess work as to what is really intended, how far does it go, is it constitutional, is it Big Brother being too intrusive and so much more. Case in point is, the District of Columbia Public Education Reform Amendment Act of 2007 is a forty eight (48) page bill that says a lot but in fact really says nothing, and in a very verbose manner seems designed more to bore and insult the intelligence of readers if not to confuse us more than its author already has. The foregoing is liking to those old days when our religious leaders performed their services only in Hebrew or Latin as a means of keeping most ignorant of what they are doing and saying. The DC City Council needs to start proposing legislation in a more coherent format that does more than say what the bill is intended for but illustrates to all concerned its intent, how the council proposes it should be effected and more before it becomes law. When I was a young man, I use to on weekends act as the golf caddy for NY State Supreme Court Justice F.M. Gagilardi and he always told me that the art of being a good lawyer/legislator is routed in how well you can confuse and mislead the masses. It is time that all legislation follow a user friendly format so voters can better follow what their local leaders are really attempting to do before they do it.

Sadly, Councilwoman Cheh had hardly taken her seat on the council when she co-sponsored B17-0030 "HPV Vaccination & Reporting Act of 2007 which is highly suspect as to her motivation. I think Catania and Cheh need to come forward via the media and reveal any ties directly or indirectly to MERCK and/or promises of support, future employment and what have you for them, friends and/or family members which others of their kind have been accused of in exchange for what they have proposed. NBC NEWS said that MERCK has a lot riding on getting state legislators to introduce, pass and require that all teenage girls be inoculated with GARDASIL® so my challenge to Catania and Cheh is proper.

CONGRESS SHOULD NOT TURN OVER DCPS TO DC GOV.
Psycho posted a topic in District of Columbia Politics
CONGRESS SHOULD NOT TURN OVER DCPS TO DC GOV. DC City Coucil is far more corrupt that the DC School Board! The US Congress had a reason not to allow our political leaders to have control over the schools and they should deny any efforts to amend the DC Home Rul Act. -
The Washington Post writes that Linda Singer was not looking for a new job, she said. She was not even looking to practice law anymore. She was running a nonprofit group in the District, and for years, she had told the state of New York -- where she had been admitted to the bar -- that she was retired from the law, with no intention of practicing again. The foregoing is a bold face lie. Linda Singer and her husband Joe Sternlieb created an illegal political action committee called Friends of Joe Sternlieb financed by local developers. This PAC’s initial goal was to generate campaign funding and votes for Adrian Fenty in Ward 3 and in other areas with predominantly white voters before it turned its eyes on finding a replacement in Ward 3 for Kathy Patterson. This fairy tale lie Singers tells of being surprised of being offered the job of attorney general over breakfast at the Four Seasons Hotel is just that, a lie as this job offer was already in the works over a year ago when she and her husband agreed to create an illegal PAC to back Fenty and so on. Singer will be a failure as DC Attorney General because of strong opposition to her inside the Office of the Attorney General by attorneys on all levels who feel she is not competent for the job, good people got stepped on in the process and from what some of these attorneys who are my friends tell me, she is arrogant, loud, misguided and is like her boss Adrian Fenty; namely, she is as dumb witted as he.

DC’S DECEPTIVE JOB MARKET Jonathan R. Rees – jrrees2006@verizon.net This week, NBC4 news took up the issue of the job market in Metro DC stating that whereas job growth in the private sector has been growing in Fairfax and Montgomery counties it has been shrinking in DC by the number of jobs and from full-time, permanent to part-time, temporary. The only job growth in DC has been around jobs created by the US Government not DC Government. Most private sector jobs in DC are neither full-time nor permanent positions although the opposite is true out in Fairfax and Montgomery counties. What gains there have been in the District, it has been wiped out by the rapid growth of the cost of living. Indeed, statistics can be manipulated by whoever is using them. Yet, the hard facts are: 1. DC’s private sector job growth has been far behind the suburbs; 2. About only 30% of all new jobs in DC last more than one year; 3. That 50% of all new jobs created in DC do not provide workers enough income to meet their basic cost of living needs; 4. That the DC work force is becoming a lot younger where employers are shunning older workers to save money while compromising quality and quantity and 5. That DC is becoming more and more a city of two classes of the haves and the have not’s with the middle class to be found in the more stable suburbia. In other words, job stability is no longer to be found in the District but out in our suburbs!!!!! During our last primaries and general elections, we heard very little from the candidates what they are going to do to help create new jobs in DC, create permanent not these short-term and poorly paid jobs nor what they are going to do to put a stop to these out of control rents and even force rents down so as to stop the spiraling decline in real income of workers. Again, statistics can be manipulated but half of the resident of the District of Columbia are classified as being grossly under-employed and not as able to save as their counter-parts in our suburbs or meet their basic needs. Of course, our illustrious leaders talk about these very expensive plans to take over our schools and more, but have they stopped for a minute to ask where is the money coming from as Fenty’s plan to take over the schools will cost far more than what our current budget for the DCPS is. The Fenty’s 100 Days and more plan has never been looked at from the standpoint of the price tag but it will cost DC over $1 billion dollars more than our budget will allow within his four year term forcing him to break his promise not to raise taxes. Of course, Fenty never looked at the price tag on anything he has proposed nor has our city council as none of them have any business acumens, everything they said on the campaign trail was taken from script cards others wrote and they did not fully understand themselves and the poor voters of DC bought it hook, line and sinker. DC’s and its weakened workforce cannot afford ADRIAN FENTY or his plan.

This past week, Mayor Fenty sent two detectives from the MPD to my home to politely ask me to discontinue my attacks on him and to stop circulating such around by email where his family and friends might get such as did his wife which he was very unhappy about. The two MPD detectives rang my door bell, I invited them in, sat down at my desk, clicked a button under my desk that activated a recording device and all that was said was recorded loud and clear. Are we now to conclude that if any of us publish on DC Watch, DC Pages, DC Wire or elsewhere any criticism of Mayor Fenty that his wife, mother, father or other family members might read that he will always send members of the MPD to first ask you nicely to stop and if we don’t, what will Fenty do next? I’ll admit that the two detectives (one African America female and one Caucasian male) where extremely polite, seemed like they did not want to get wrapped up in this and quickly left after passing the message onto me. Geez, Fenty could have easily sent a letter or maybe he didn’t want a record of this, and I wonder if anybody would go down and check the MPD files if they would find any CC: Misc Report filed by Mayor Fenty!

The United States of America and its states were at its best when lawyers did not swell the ranks of our executive and legislative branches of government. When farmers, teachers, doctors, business owners, mathematicians, salesman and others were our elected officials, America saw its best days of industrial growth, social justice/progress and more. Whereas America started its decline, losing ground to Asia and Europe and more when lawyers started seizing control of our political landscape. Why are lawyers bad for America and the District of Columbia? Simple, they are ideologues not realists, they are known to be the worse business minds, they have the highest rate of business failure, highest rate of suicide, highest rate of divorce, highest rate of substance abuse and more. So is it any wonder the likes of Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed and others constantly warned of to be on guard and wary of lawyers? The corruption among our elected official in DC who are mainly lawyers is routed in what our prophets/God(s) have warned us about; namely, lawyers who will place burdens on our backs that they would not want to carry. Lawyers have seized control of our government(s) because like the Mafia, in that, they have created a system that affords them some of the highest salaries in the country and they have taken the surplus to create an environment that insures that their power overlaps into every aspect of our lives and gives them the ability to reach that point of control over us. Shakespeare may have been right when he said in King Henry VI, Part II, (Act IV), Scene 2, “"The First Thing We Do, Let's Kill All the Lawyers". While some may argue that Shakespeare’s statement was taken out of content, it was not, but a reflection of the times and how corrupt lawyers were, and how they patronized those in power vs. those who were not and the end results of pain and suffering lawyers inflicted upon the common man. The arrogance of lawyers is easily reflected in the way they ask to be treated especially when they become elected officials or judges whereby you are asked to kiss their ***** and refer to them as “Your Honor”. In the District of Columbia to insure fairness, we have allowed for all political parties to be afforded a chance at seeing it members being elected when we created the situation where non-Democrats had a shot at at-large seats on our city council. Maybe we should also ad to that, that a certain number of seats on our city council be guaranteed to non-lawyers.

BLIND MEN LEADING THE BLIND I work in the health care field as an administrator and in this capacity; I have to deal with people who are sick physically, psychologically and even spiritually. I see and experience things that most people do not and will not in their life-time. In other words, I see people from all walks of life and in those moments of life where they are most vulnerable from complications in the birth process to observing the mortician in the embalming process. It is all that I experience that makes me sensitive to the needs of people and it has made me politically active and grown more conservative as I have aged. I have become most critical of those I see and sense are cheapening the short existence in life most of us have. Sadly, I easily see the phoniness of most of our local political leaders who are out to enrich themselves while only throwing you and I the crumbs, their lies, their selling us out to their big financial backers in a New York minute but sit around bickering needlessly while your mother and father do without a basic that will impact on their overall well-being. Mayor Fenty in my opinion is a big phony as he does not care about your children and their education, and while he will throw them some of the crumbs off the table, the people he really cares about are his buddies over at Federal City Council, developers in Westchester County, New York eyeing land in DC and enriching himself. Council members Cantania and Cheh are equally self-serving ignoramuses when they proposed mandatory immunization of all teenage girls from developing cervical cancer, as they should have known that the inoculation offered has not been tested enough, we do not know for sure what the side affects or long-term consequences will be and there is not enough evidence to show if it will work or what percentage of women will still develop cervical cancer anyway. Catania and Cheh acted to get some political kudos from female voters but do not care about your daughters because if they did, they would have thought this matter out more thoroughly rather than seek kudos on an emotional issue on something suggested in its infancy stage. Yet, when people criticize our illustrious leaders for their greed, lies and insensitivities, I often see those doing such as doing it more because we have stepped on their scared cow and not because what has been said is wrong. The people in DC when they elected Mayor Fenty and our current council were for no better choice of words played Political Russian Roulette in that, after getting off a pretty successful Williams Administration, we decide to go with a bunch of inexperienced, untested and questionable ideologues who only offered us one line clips but did not say how. We did this knowing we are always on shaky grounds with the US Congress who would not hesitate to install another control board. It would be most laughable nationwide if the most educated city in American falls on its face again and the US Congress would have to step in, and I believe that Mayor Fenty will bring us close to it because we may have a lot of people with book smarts but no common sense and our voting habits support this. I am sure that on that day Mayor Fenty and our council members pass on, the lantern of Diogenes of Sinope will not be shinning over their corpses.

During the Ward 3 City Council race, somebody mailed out two letters to voters on GWU Law School stationary and in GWU envelopes attacking Mary Cheh. Mary Cheh quickly blamed Erik Gaull for such stating that he had done something similar in his previous run against Kathy Patterson. Mary Cheh probably never expected that anyone would enquire as to the owner of the USPS meter number assigned to the affixed postage on those mail-outs. Those mail-outs were in FACT done on real GWU Law School stationary and envelopes, and the postal meter account appearing on those envelopes belongs to the GWU Law School. The question now is, who had the ability to get the people in the mailroom at GWU to agree to do this? Who at in the mailroom at GWU knows of these two large mailings taking place? Was it another employee, a professor or was it Mary Cheh attacking herself to gain some media attention early on in her campaign. Sometimes the truth is not discovered for a long time to come just like a cold case the police solve.

BLOGGING BY GARY IMHOFF In the January 24, 2007 edition of “TheMail”, Gary Imhoff writes: If Fenty gets his school takeover plan approved; the next superintendent (with the new title of chancellor) may be Rudy Crew, who passed up the DC job in 2004 to go to Miami. At least, that’s what David Nakamura. speculated in DC Wire But Crew gets a salary of $350,000 in Miami, with a total compensation package approaching $550,000 a year and DC would have to beat that deal. How do you feel about paying over $550,000 a year for a school superintendent? Of course, DC could do like Miami does, and have the salary subsidized by corporations and interest groups, like the ones who are promoting the school takeover plan in the first place. How do you feel about having the superintendent’s salary paid by interest groups, presumably the same ones that will benefit from the takeover? The other rumored superintendent candidate is James Shelton (http://www.newschools.org/portfolio/entrep_jims.html), who is supposedly being promoted by Terry Golden of the Federal City Council”. First off, I find $350,000.00 a year in itself to be totally outlandish, insulting to tax payers and vulgar to say the least. This is education and a school superintendent we are talking about, and not major league baseball and the buying of star pitcher. Second, Gary touches on the issue of “special interest” groups subsidizing our superintendent’s salary suggesting that those sinister groups including Federal City Council and others mainly developers subsidize their nefarious and secretive agenda. Each time I open my email and see THEMAIL, I am afraid of what new madness I will read about and it strengthens my belief that DC Government is out of control, out of touch and why we do not need a vote in Congress, statehood but having Congress take back DC and clean up so that we can get back to the basics of what good government is all about as it is not paying $350,000.00 a year to a school superintendent, $115,000.00 a year to part-time, do nothing council members but providing our children at reasonable costs to taxpayers a good educational system, good healthcare, food on the family table, affordable housing and not coddling illegal aliens who disrespected our laws by coming here or making crooked developers richer which has taken a toll on our children in so many ways. As the notable singer Billy Joel said in a song: “We Didn’t Start The Fire” but we the people, can put it out by not voting for leaders: E.G. Adrian Fenty, Jack Evans, Mary Cheh and David Catania who were elected by special interest groups who hijacked our electoral process from the voters more so than any of the others.
