Guest Lee Siew Li Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 By Lee Siew Li, Channel NewsAsia SINGAPORE : A global Buddhism conference will be held here in June, and over 1,000 participants are expected to attend. As a prelude, a water blessing ceremony was held on Sunday by the Buddhist Fellowship. Advertisement Thailand's ambassador to Singapore, His Excellency Thakur Phanit, was there to grace the occasion. The holy water was poured into the open sea to symbolise the message of harmony and growth flowing to other countries. The organisers hope the event will also foster greater understanding between the various Buddhist traditions. - CNA Quote
