valencia Posted November 28, 2005 Report Share Posted November 28, 2005 Hello everyone i had cold fusion hair extensions put in my hair about 3 months ago and they seem to be stuck together and look like they are dreading..i payed 1500$ and im very upset..is this sopposed to happen? is my real hair going to be ruined? someone helppp me!! If your hair is starting to dread the extensions need to be removed ASAP!! If the dreading has just started you can save your hair. You need to have them removed by a professional because certain tools are required, have them deep condition your hair and patiently comb through your hair with a wide tooth comb (while conditioning) after that wash the hair and deep condition again. I'm Sorry I don't give instructional application information and I have yet to find an instructional DVD that I like. Hands on training is the best route because you can't tell if you are applying the extentions properly when you mimic a tape. Supervision is important for newbies because questions can be answered and mistakes can be fixed. There is so much to learn about this business and it is almost impossible to learn most of it from a 2 hour DVD or by reading instructions. So you can't say what anyone can learn from me. I am doing the extensions this weekend for Ms Fitness Olympia 2005. I have been a professional stylist and Master braider since 1981. I know my work and am proud of it and proud to share my skills with someone that has the right and priviledge to learn this artform. Fusion can be learned anyway. As a matter of fact, no one taught me. Once I found out about the supplies, I ordered them, practiced, and figured it out. I am a master of it! Fusion is not rocket science! It's all about TLC, skill, attention to detail, and excellent customer service! I have seen the work of other fusion stylist. I am inspired by it, wish all stylist the best in their careers. I don't care if you post, several stylist post on this thread but they give useful information. How can you give lessons over the phone or via email? And are you going to be there to take responsibility if they ripp a clients hair out? That is what I have a problem with. I don't know what the state laws are in your area but I know you need to be properly trained in most states to perform these services, there is a reason for that. If you are going to encourage these ladies to break the law, you need to start your own thread or post on another because I refuse to put up with it, THAT is why your post was deleted.. My readers also had a problem with your post and that is who I'm looking out for. If you want my support you need to come into this business with clean hands. Clients rip their hair out when they brush, comb, use barrettes and rubberbands, and when they take out weaves and braids. A woman can have her hair done perfectly by a licensed cosmetologist, looking absolutely great, and then go out and have unprotected sex. What's there to stress about? It's hair, protein that extends from our skin, that beautifies and protects us. It grows back! The stores and beauty supplies are full of products for us to do-it-ourselves. No matter if you or a stylist gives you extensions, color, perms, or the like, stress is put upon the hair. You care for your client, you teach your client. You care for yourself, you educate yourself. Whether you are getting beauty services or auto repair. Nonetheless, no matter where you live in these United States, a woman has a right to do her own hair how she pleases, or allow someone else to do it. It's up to her to do her homework on that individual or face the consequences. Yes, there are laws in a few states regarding fusion extensions and braids. These are non-chemical practices, so all states have not set regulations. An individual would have to do their homework. Like I mentioned earlier. Fusion is no rocket science. Anyone with fingers can learn this technique. You can purchase supplies online w/o a license! We all know this. You and I both know persons that are licensed and have caused damage. Then there is the next unlicensed person, who is simply talented, and can please you with the way he/she styles and cares for your hair. That's just how it is. Nothing can be done about it. Really, there are more pressing issues on our planet. Basically, you have this thread to educate. Your photos of bad extensions are to educate, and make us aware of what is out there. Your readers appreciate that, and therefore can make informed decisions when it comes to their hair. It's all about doing your homework and researching anyone applying to your head, or instructing you on how to apply these extensions to yourself or anyone else. Valencia, you are doing a wonderful job, and it makes me proud to be a stylist. This was an important dialouge. I appreciate the exchange of thoughts. Doing stupid things can have a deadly consequence (like unprotected sex). Like I said I refuse to encourage my clients to play russian roulette with their hair and you want to hand them the gun, Thank Goodness the veiwers are intelligent enough to know better. And to my wonderful veiwers.........Keep in mind this is what's out there the choice is yours, I know I don't want an extention artist with no training or with email/phone training....I have posted a horror email and BAD fusion pictures not to mention the many phone calls that I get, it breaks my heart because these same people refuse to take responsibility when things go bad they just make excuses or blame the client to justify. My question still wasn't answered who is going to take responsibility when things go bad? Oh wait, that's right the client because they rip their hair out anyway using barrettes rubberbands, ect. But I'm not suprised because she is one of many HOW SCARY............Remember the lessons only start with the application. We have both made our positins clear........ I know that I do not want to be a celebrity on one of those small claims court television shows. Some individuals take what you say and twist it around. Then they look for someone to blame. Helen, you know as a professional that people love pointing the finger. I have nothing against people doing hair out of their kitchen, but the line has to be drawn somewhere. Are you saying that if a kitchenticean called you and asked how to do one of the services you provided you would give that info? We as stylist have to protect ourselves and our profession. It has nothing to do with pulling anyone down, or not wanting to share. To me it is common sense to protect yourself and others who want to associate with you. I am aware that you are doing someone famous, but think about your license and the law. There are a lot of ladies that have ruined their hair and run to us to fix it. This is what makes our jobs hard, correcting mistakes that could have been prevented. I know that you may be good at what you do, but protect yourself. Not necessarily with the polywax extensions I had, but as I told the owner, her girls are dangerous with a relaxer. I had to insist on a neutralizing shampoo after I had a relaxer, and the stylists get miffed if you want a conditioner. You actually have to ask for one! I wrote to the owner twice. She apologized profusely and said she would have a meeting with the girls. The 2nd time, the manager intercepted. I didn't bother to pursue it after that. I just stopped going. I have been natural for 2 years & 2 months now, would like to try a relaxer again, and maybe something added in just the back for more length. Tracks? Do they still do tracks? I am apologizing to hear of your horrible experience. First the neutralizer stops the relaxer from continuousl working on your hair. And yes, you were right wanting conditioner on your hair because a phbalanced conditioner will bring your hair back to it's original state. Your hair is in shock after a chemical, and I am sitting in awe as to why they did not follow professional procedures? Listen, you can still get a relaxer, just be careful as to who applies it. Make sure you use a relaxer that is moisturizing, prefererably shea butter. Do you have a sensitive scalp? When you go for a consult, make sure you ask, and look at the stylist's hair first.
