  4. JUST ANNOUNCED! NEXT WED., FEB 9TH! Blue Pinto @ Velvet Lounge On February 9th 1964, The Beatles made their first live American television appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Exactly 41 years later, Blue Pinto is making their first appearance at the Velvet Lounge. An estimated 23 people will watch the show live, and in doing so will immediately become very charming, witty, will live longer--and will get a promotion at work.* YOU could be one of these 23 people. The show starts at 9. Velvet Lounge 915 U Street N. W. Washington, DC 20001 More info, including maps, directions, and any other bands will be posted on our web site: http://www.bluepinto.com * Results not guaranteed for all in attendance. Let it die. Even if you could point out one small good thing the station was doing, it was just that--small. Sure the HFStival was big mega concert, but did YOU discover any of the bands that played there? One of the great things about the WHFS of old was that at any given moment the song coming out of your radio might never be played again, and if your friends didn't hear it, you got to be the one to claim you heard the band--even if the DJ at the station really did have the jump on you. And speaking of DJs, they even got to pick the music they got to play! Sure, some of it sucked, but if it did, you probably didn't hear it more than once. Maybe radio will never be good again. But there are always new bands who would love for you to be the one who will be able to say "I remember seeing them in that dive bar on..." Support your local music.

  8. ***UPDATE*** Astrograss will not be able to make it on the 18th. The new lineup is: 9:00 pm: Pallino 10:30 pm: Sakrid 12:00 am: Blue Pinto More info at BluePinto.com/Shows
  9. Saturday, September 18 Blue Pinto with Pallino & Astrograss at the Staccato Lounge in Adam's Morgan Sebastian Junger might be inclined to call this "The Perfect Lineup." Three great bands converge on Staccato on Saturday, September 18th. Pallino gets things started with their own Brit-pop influenced rock (think Radiohead meets Coldplay). Astrograss takes it from there, rolling in from NYC with their own brand of bluegrass. A little Soggy Bottom Boys, a little Travis Bickle--you get the picture, bluegrass with an attitude. Finally, Blue Pinto wraps up the whole evening, with a mix of originals and obscure covers. A fitting end to summer DC. Catch a power nap on The Mall, grab a bit to eat in Adam's Morgan, then head to Staccato! See you all there! More info, including directions to the club can be found at www.bluepinto.com.
