Sr. Human Resources Generalist

Our Northeast Region is currently looking for a Senior Human Resources Generalist for our Herndon, VA office. The Senior Human Resources Generalist is defined as being an equal partner in strategic planning and decision making within their assigned business group, regional functional management team or others that impact the business group. The position provides consultation and strategic services to the following functions: staffing, training, organizational development, performance management, benefits, compensation, employee relations, safety, risk management (fundamental understanding of the basis for the legal risk, and applying effective intervention techniques) and personnel research.


The position assists in the development and implementation of regional initiatives and provides staff support to Operational initiatives. Develops, leads and implements regional initiatives. Provides staff support to, and leadership of Business Group initiatives by serving as a task force member, project lead, etc. Will supervise others and provide general HR oversight to multiple regional offices (expect 25% travel). The successful candidate will be expected to act as a consultant and to be fully integrated into regional business group within 0-6 months of hire.


Bachelor's Degree and PHR required. Experience minimum of 8 years professional level HR experience, including Specialist experience (min 2 years)in one or more of the HR service functions: (Compensation, Employee Relations, etc.), or HR management experience (min 2 years), or HR management experience (min 2 years).


Qualified candidates will have 12+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, MS and SPHR preferred.


Specialized skills needed to perform this job effectively include:

• Strong understanding of the business group market segments and their competitors.

• Strong analytic skills related to staff planning and forecasting.

• Strong knowledge of a variety of recruiting and the staffing and human resources management concepts, practices, and procedures.

• Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

• Very strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

• Hands on working exposure with operational, business development, project delivery and technology professionals.

• Ability to delegate effectively and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

• Strong HR knowledge and competency in the areas of performance management, learning and development, rewards and recognition, employee relations, risk management, compensation and organizational development.
