Metrorail continues to rewrite its own history books with new ridership records for the month of April. Wednesday, April 6th, marked the occasion when Metrorail reached its sixth highest weekday ridership day ever with 755,559 trips taken by passengers, most of them in town to attend cherry blossom events.

"The nice spring weather, along with the return of tourists, school spring breaks, and the cherry blossoms have combined to bring record numbers of passengers to Metrorail this week," stated Metro's Chief Operating Officer for Rail Services, Steven Feil. "To everyone utilizing Metrorail this week, we say 'thank you.'"
