DESCRIPTION: Performs such aspects of information development as research, writing, editing, and production coordination on a variety of projects. May act as lead editor on documents of all types and sizes under minimal supervision. Suggests to original authors or internal clients ways to enhance the message of a document. May work with outside clients under supervision. Participates, sometimes as lead, on proposal and presentation activities. Monitors workloads to determine the need for additional help and resources. To ensure timeliness and quality may assist project manager with project budgeting and contract administration. Determines approach to develop and produce cost-effective documents. Delivers product according to budget and schedule. QUALIFICATIONS: Proven copyediting and diagnostic editing skills. Requires computer literacy. Knowledgeable of copyright law, permissions, libel. Has thorough knowledge of overall document production process.


The chosen candidate will have between 5-7 years of experience with all aspects of editing. Proposal management/coordination and business development background desired. Some desktop publishing experience preferred. Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, or related field is also required.


Knowledge and Skills:

Expertise in all levels of editing. Ability to write proposals and reports with the assistance of a proposal or project manager. Extensive working knowledge of document production, CH2M HILL style, business development and clients’ document requirements, approved computer application programs, and firmwide communication systems. Requires computer literacy, including on-line editing, document management and NFIS software and HTML. Will be required to coordinate workload for the WDC publications team.


Advanced skills in MS Software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat (emphasis on creating complex PDF’s). Desktop publishing experience in Adobe software a plus.


Must be team-oriented, have strong oral communication skills, and be able to motivate staff.


Decisionmaking and Problem Resolution:


Helps establish editorial standards.


Performs editorial review in all technical areas and may perform technical review of publications in field of specialization.


Direction of Others/Coordination:


Directs the efforts and workload of the WDC publications team. May train and mentor document specialists and editors. May hire temporary production center staff. Provides QA/QC on technical documents, proposals and projects.
