Why the Senators didn’t ask Clinton about US foreign policy?

Today 23.01.13, the Senate Foreign Relation Committee asked Secretary of State Hilary Clinton about the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya and the killing of US Ambassador on September 11, 2012. But as usual, the questions of the well-groomed Senators created neither heat nor light. The emphasis was mainly on the inadequacy of the security measure at the consulate; which is basically outside her terms of reference. It would nave been more appropriate for the Senate Foreign Relation Committee to ask the Secretary of State about the failure of US foreign policy which causes so much hatred for anything American: including the facilities and personnel of Diplomatic missions, Oil Corporations and even Educational Institutions. It is not enough to talk about training of police officers in Tunis, Cairo or Amman or in asking for an increase in the budgetary allocations of the State Department. It is much more than this. To start with, people don’t believe that the US promotes democracy and freedom with its long-term flirting with ruthless Dictators and embracing the backward Saudi regime. America doesn’t pay attention to human rights with kidnapping, torture and detention of people without trial at Guantanamo bay. The Americans arm, finance and support the rogue state of Israel despite being in breach of 39 UN Security council resolutions. The Americans are killing people with impunity using drones. And finally, the Americans are imposing sanctions on mostly Muslim countries. The above are the reasons which cause so much anti-American feeling in most Muslim and Arab countries and in generating support for people like Al.Qaeda. If the current US foreign policy continues no amount of security would protect US interests and it will be beyond the capability of able Clinton or her successor, John Kerry.
