Through the creation of new growth platforms, Tyson Renewable Energy is commercializing renewable energy opportunities where we can be a significant player.

The first step is our alliance with ConocoPhillips to create the next generation of diesel fuels. Over the last year we have been collaborating on ways to leverage Tyson’s advanced knowledge in protein chemistry and triglyceride production, with ConocoPhillips’ processing and marketing expertise, to launch a next generation ‘renewable diesel’ fuel.

Our next step forward is our joint venture with Syntroleum, a Tulsa-based synthetic fuel technology company, to produce synthetic fuels made from renewable feedstocks. Production of these fuels additionally leverages Tyson’s procurement capabilities, industry relationships, and experience in commodity trading and risk avoidance to access feedstocks from other sources. Syntroleum contributes their gas-to-liquid technology expertise and relations built while producing synthetic fuel and developing synthetic fuel standards for the U.S. Air Force and Department of Defense.
