Bush and conservatives around the country believe it can win this election for McCain by portraying the Democrats and liberal judges for ushering in this threat to the traditional family. Conservatives want to make gay marriage one of the top three issues in the 2008 election. Even the Obama camp realizes that the gay marriage issue could hurt his chances that advisers have strongly recommended that Obama not be photograph with any knows gay activists so McCain can't use such against him nor agree to participate in and gay forum. Obama is officially opposed to gay marriage, avoided gays his whole career and does not support other Democrats in expanding further legal rights for gays.
