I am thinking of putting solar panels on the roof of my house. Is there any government web site that has information on what is currently the best product out there?

Honda Soltec Co., Ltd., Honda’s wholly-owned solar cell subsidiary, has begun sales of thin film solar cells produced by Honda Engineering Co., Ltd., primarily in the Kanto area, Japan, through distributors which also provide solar cell installation service.

Honda's next-generation thin film solar cells achieve approximately a 50 percent reduction in the amount of energy consumed during the manufacturing process. This makes the new solar cell more environmentally responsible by reducing the amount of CO2 generated even from the production stage.

It's a technology whose time has come - thanks to next-generation solar cells developed by Honda that use thin film made from a compound of copper, indium, gallium and selenium (CIGS).

These solar cells are already mounted on Honda's experimental Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS) in Torrance, California. The result is increased efficiency in producing hydrogen using renewable solar energy. And when combined with Honda's world-leading FCX, a fuel cell vehicle whose only by-product is water, these thin film solar cells help create the ultimate solution for cleaner mobility.
