Strand By Strand Hair Fusion Technique

Hi Valencia,

I came across this message board while searching on the Internet for extension techniques that can last long and provide more options. I sent you an email but then I decided to post my question here as well.

I just recently relaxed my hair after going natural for almost 2 years. My hair is chin length and I wash and deep condition it at least once a week. It is healthy and I want to be able to keep it that way no matter what I do. I prefer to wear the curly/wavy styles. Can I wear these styles with relaxed hair without detection with fusion? I live in Lafayette, Louisiana (small college town) and there is not too much here in the way of hair extensions stylists. I talked to one lady I did find earlier this week and she told me she charges $3 per strand of hair for fusion extensions. She said because of the economy in this area, she charges $700 to do a full head ($350 for half a head) because she knows $3 per strand is too expensive. I want to ask you, is that about the price I should expect for fusion? It is just too expensive for me......

Because of this, I wanted to find out if you knew of anyone in the Houston area which is not so far from me or Orlando (I will be there during Thanksgiving) who uses your system and is reasonably priced. If not, do you instruct people on how to do fusion by themselves using your method, how to take care of them and how to remove them, etc. I don't know if you do or even what it would entail since I don't live anywhere near you. But any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kemi.

Hello Kemi,

I to relax my hair and curly/wavy styles are my signature I always tell my clients to relax their hair because beleive it or not the hair blends better (even curly/wavy) with a fresh relaxer. I go straight on occasion but I like the freedom, fullness, and convience of textured hair. I always tell my clients to concentrate on their hair even after getting fusion, so you don't need to change your products or methods and because your hair is exposed you are able to get to it to deep condition or use any treatment you presently use so it will remain healthy. I don't give fusion lessons unless you are a certified stylist or certified extentionist looking to take advanced classes you need to know hair basics before doing extended services, knowing the dynamics of proper haircare is SO IMPORTANT. I only asisst in the removal because the product that I use is so easy to remove. I presently don't have anyone in your area :( , (I wish I did) I get a ton of emails from Texas and I am seriouly thinking about bringing a team to a local salon there in the future.

I will keep you posted..

Thank You for your response

AHHH, someone PLEASE help. I am currently deployed in Iraq, untill this Jan. I have been looking on the internet for places in the Ga area to get infusion done. So far i am at no luck. I have many questions about this. my biggest concern is that i read an article saying because i am white, that this process wont last. I got my first hair extension, done in Fl. Which she did a great job untill i washed it.. I didnt know the difference between the real hair and fake, and tried to FLAT IRON, my hair(which i can tell you came out soo WRONG :) I want to get the natural hair now, but can i still pull it up in a ponytail for work? Do i not wash my hair everyday? My hair is shoulder length now, and want it down to my back. Is this the best process for me? I dont want a weave again, since after a couple of days.. i started to have bumps where she sewn it. Does anyone no anybody in the ATL. or Ga area that does this? If someone can explain this to me, i would sooo forever be grateful, Thank you.. Jenna  ( sandjems@hotmail.com)

Hey ArmyChick,

First, salutes to you in Iraq from an Air Force chick back home! I commend you and wish you a safe return. Second, whomever said you cannot get fusion b/c your white has obviously never seen Paris Hilton or Gwen Stefani for that matter. Their hair doesn't grow down their back over night! Not to mention that the leading company in the industry for extensions, www.greatlengths.net, caters predominantly to those of caucasian descent. I'm not familiar with who does extension in the GA/ATL area but what I AM familiar with is that on your way HOME from Iraq it's more than likely that you'll travel through BWI (Baltimore Int'l Airport). If this is the case you should email me because what I DO know is that we have a few reputable fusion extension specialist in Maryland that may be able to help you if you're willing to make the layover in Maryland. If it's a consideration email me and let's chat. Hope to hear from you soon and remember "keep your head down" 'n "lock 'n load" if necessary! Best wishes and be safe out there.

Hello, ArmyChick........

I sent you an email.......

Thank You for your response

Hello Ladies........

First of all I want to thank all the ladies who have shared their hair horror stories with me through email and I want to thank the ladies in advance who are sending photos...........

AM I TRYING TO SCARE YOU?....YES I AM.......

Please be careful ladies take the time to read each and every post on my thread to arm yourself with the information that you need BEFORE you get the fusion method and if you have additional questions please ask. If you get the service done and start to have problems contact your extesionist right away (even if I am the extensionist) I am not above problems, or if you don't want to deal with the person find an extensionist that you trust or call your regular stylist, don't assume that the problem is something that you did wrong. My emails have doubled because of an ongoing situation on this forum I am not happy about the situation but I'm thrilled that something positive will come of this for you ladies. I have ladies from across the country speaking out and I applaud each and every one of them because this is not an easy thing to do but when you speak out you help others and let them know they are not alone. A young lady emailed me yesterday and called me EARLY this morning with her story, she is not from my state (just wanted to make that clear) but she had a VERY BAD experience with an extensionist in her state she told me that she is going to mail pictures today, I will post them on my online gallery as soon as I get them. It breaks my heart to hear these stories but it also motivates me to continue to fight the good fight for each and every one of you.........Keep checking back for the pictures and I will keep you posted

I am a fusion specialist, I would be delighted to answer any questions on the subject of strand by strand hair fusion technique.

It is a hair weaving technique that is undetectable. You can perm and color your hair with the system in place.

IT IS WONDERFUL!!

Hi, I am a stylist in Belleville Illinois, and I have some questions about hair fusion.

1. How does one got about getting the proper tools.

2. What is the best hair to use for the process.

3. What shape should the clients hair be in.

4. How long should the process take.

5. How long the client hair has to be.

Hello Jacob,

I find that Remy Virgin Hair is the best hair I have used so far, I have the hair shipped to me, treat it and pre-tip it myself and I have not had a problem so far and believe me, I have had my share of trial and error......

The clients hair should be healthy, no less than 1 1/2 inches with great elasticity. The good thing is if there is little damage that is ok because you can build the hair with the system in place...I wouldn't do a client with moderate to severe damage because the hair might not handle it so if in doubt do a strand test.....

It is hard to say how long the method takes because it depends on the client, how long the hair, the amount of fullness the client want, ect I could go on forever, I have done an entire head in 2 1/2 - 3 hours, 4 hours max..........

I don't like to publish my distributer information I'm sorry, but just make sure the fusion bond is keritin based NO POLYWAX.........

THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank You for your response

HELLO EVERYONE!!!! :D

I had to share this story with you. It was my honor to do fusion on one of America's finest. She found me through this forum and emailed me. She told me that she was in Iraq at the time but will be in the states in a few months for a few weeks only. We did a consultation through email, and she sent me a picture. Eventually she called me to set up an appontment....which was yesterday.......As you all know I now use the Remy Hair Today hair and LOVE IT.....not to mention the customer service is the BEST....I spoke to Camille, emailed the picture of my client and placed my order, but there was a slight problem....It is Typhoon season in India and our hair package was held up. Camille kept me posted and called me when the package was in her hand but that was a day before America's Finest appointment, not only did Camille send the package overnight but she gave me a wake up call at 6am to make sure I was up to receive it.....I got the package at 7:53 sharp, and I had to process and pre-tip the hair by 11am and got it done. I am happy to report that I couldn't be more happy with the results.......THANK YOU CAMILLE.....AND WE LOVE YOU AMERICA'S FINEST.......YOU ARE BOTH WONDERFUL WOMEN.......And last but not least my stylist Reniece, I am thrilled that she is going fulltime in December and I promise she will be a force to reckon with the girl has MAD SKILLS.......For those who don't know, Reniece does my haircuts and basic services for my clients and what can I say? her work speaks for itself.

Valencia, I'm just learning about fusion and I'm thinking about investing in it in the next few weeks but had a few questions: 1) I'm allergic to latex, is the bond latex based like the weave bond? and 2) I'd like to get straight hair, can you touch up your perm with the fused hair or does it have to be removed and redone at each touch up?

Thanks for this site!! It's one of the few informative sites I could find on this topic. :D dlj

It helps others more than you think...BLESS YOU. How are you going to remove the remaining polywax? PLEASE BE CAREFUL IF YOU ATTEMPT TO REMOVE. I cringe at the thought. I can't tell you how many clients email me with the exact same story regarding this salon Please keep us posted. AND ladies remember BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!! When a stylist doesn't take resposibility for a mistake it happens over and over not taking responsibility means there was nothing learned and that stunts growth how unfortunate for the stylist and even more for the client.

Again Thank You for your response.........

hi, this is Nikki again, could you possible walk me through the strand by strand or do you know of any illustrated dvd/vhs out there to maybe show how the process is done

Hello Nikki,

The best way to become a good extensionist is first going to cosmetology school to learn the basics of hair and haircare, a good foundation only works in your favor. Next get hands on training with fusion extensions, dvd's don't tell the whole story and most poor extensionist only mimic what they see...........

Thank you for your response

  Is there ant salons near Southern Maryland/ D.C that are real polywaxers? I need to have the 12-20 strands I have left removed. How long should I wait to have them re-done correctly?

I tend to stay away from polywax, TOO MANY HORROR STORIES,

If there is no damage you should be able to get a redo at anytime.......

But PLEASE do a consultation first and ask questions..Make sure the salon use keritin based bonds they cause no damage and are easy to remove.

I am located in the Laurel, Maryland area. Feel free to email me if you have additional questions.
