Volunteers are invited to plant trees in any of 13 community projects this spring with Casey Trees, the District-based nonprofit organization working to restore the tree canopy in the Nation’s Capital. Volunteers with no previous experience will be teamed with experienced Citizen Foresters to plant trees in projects developed with neighborhood groups and civic organizations. All events are free. Tools, training and refreshments are provided. Saturday events are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday events are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is one weekday event on Tuesday April 8th (see below). In the event of severe weather, cancellation information will be available by phone at 202-833-4010 by 7:30 a.m. on the day of the event.

Groups of 5 or more should contact volunteer coordinator Karen Payne ahead of time by phone at 202-349-1909 or by email at: kpayne@caseytrees.org. Volunteers are asked to sign a release form at the event. Youth under 18 must have a release form signed by a parent or guardian. Those under 16 must also be accompanied by an adult. Casey Trees planting events are a great way to meet others from the community while helping to re-green District neighborhoods. Volunteers are encouraged to register online for these events at
