Our Chantilly, VA office is in need of a Project Manager to deliver water and wastewater projects for municipal, regional, and other governmental and private sector clients.

 

We are seeking a candidate who has a broad understanding of water, wastewater, water resources, and utility management services, with strong technical skills in one or more of these categories. We are particularly interested in a candidate with water/wastewater facilities planning expertise, including conveyance systems.

 

As a Project Manager for CH2M HILL you can expect to manage small to large size projects. The project manager is the leader/manager of project teams and is supported by technical task leaders and subconsultants as needed. The Project Manager must be adept at building and managing widely dispersed project teams.

 

The Project Manager must adapt and be a leader in the application of CH2M HILL’s Project Delivery System to achieve: protection of health, safety, and the environment; client expectations for quality, schedule, and budget; financial performance for project-specific targets; project team expectations; operational performance and business unit expectations.

 

Our ideal candidate will also:

• Become an integral part of our team and spend quality time in the Chantilly, VA office when not engaged in client activities out of the office

• Foster skills among project staff through mentoring and coaching

• Understand CH2M HILL’s organization and build an internal network of relationships so as to serve the clients’ needs.

• Positively interface between the local clients and the often widely dispersed CH2M HILL project teams and resources.

• Proven success in business development: identifying, establishing, and managing strategic client relationships, translating client needs into CH2M HILL projects, and gathering resources and building effective project delivery teams to help win and deliver work.

• Proven track record of delivering plant designs in a profitable manner.

• Successful management of at least $1 Million dollar water or wastewater plant design fee project

The ideal candidate will have a P.E. in Virginia and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, along with 10 years of experience in the field, having served in a project management role on engineering projects as a consulting engineer.

 

The preferred candidate will have the following:

3. Client focused problem solving skills

4. Flexibility to deal with the unexpected

5. Understanding of client problems/context, such as need to improve competitiveness

6. Can do approach – pragmatic but enthusiastic

7. Personal relationships with assigned clients

8. Personal relationships within the industry in the Midwest, including competitors/contractors and regulators

9. Recognized in regional client organization associations, e.g. NEWEA/WEF or NEWWA/AWWA

10. A willingness to travel locally & nationally for necessary meetings, training, and networking.
