Director, Creative Solutions Group

Corporate Executive Board

 

Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Knowledge Management, CEB is seeking a Director who’s primary responsibility will be to manage the business of the Creative Solutions Group with the ability to scale the group at the same rate as the amazing growth of the firm.

 

Primary Responsibilities of the position include:

 

 

 

 

Develop and implement an overall strategic vision and strategy for the Creative Solutions group to align with the key business initiatives, firm growth, organizational values and philosophies to continuously improve overall operations

 

Execute against strong operational management responsibilities for driving the CSG business forward against the aggressive growth strategies of CEB

 

Build strong working relationships with senior managers and CEB staff to build CSG credibility and respect throughout the firm,

 

Build sound working relationships with current external vendors and utilize industry contacts and personal networks to generate new vendor relationships.

 

Manage, develop and train a sizeable team, consisting of Managing Designers, Graphic Designers, Publication Specialists, Publication Editors, and Proofreaders ensuring that staff is educated in design, editorial, department, and company-wide procedures and policies

 

Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously; understand department-wide project priorities, monitor and adjust designer assignments as necessary to meet shifting deadlines and rapidly changing client expectations/requests

 

Leverage graphics and design experience to assist staff with designing and implementing new and innovative tools and templates.

 

Acts as a liaison between client and designer teams

 

Ownership over P&L and budgetary responsibilities for the Creative Solutions Group as well as responsibility over the chargeback process with Senior Managers throughout the firm.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

 

 

 

 

6+ years working experience in a production/creative services/publishing environment

 

Direct experience and working knowledge of a desktop publishing environment including hands-on design and production experience.

 

Demonstrated leadership, strategic vision and analytical skills

 

Strong operational management skills to run the business of CSG

 

Demonstrable experience with full P&L responsibilities

 

Excellent coach and people developer; able to motivate and mentor staff

 

Strong relationship builder

 

Superior professionalism, discretion, and judgment

 

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

 

Willingness to draw conclusions and defend a point of view

 

Ability to operate independently in times of ambiguity and change

 

Ability to perform gracefully under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines

 

Consummate team player managing with both urgency and “servant’s heart”

 

Attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture

 

Enjoys project work and managing multi-constituency initiatives

 

Well-developed sense of humor

 

Demonstrated poise and grace under pressure

Desired Background:

 

 

 

 

MBA or advanced degree with several years of experience managing an editorial or content design firm.

 

Substantial business and leadership experience managing a top-tier team and working with cross functional departments

 

P&L/business/function ownership a big plus
