Zoo After Hours Events in 2007

Below is a schedule of special events being hosted in 2007 by the National Zoo and Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ), the Zoo's nonprofit partner. Some event listings do not include dates, times, or other details; updated information about each event will be forthcoming. Events are held at the National Zoo at the following address.

"Carnaval" Young Professionals Mardi Gras Celebration - Saturday, Feb. 17, 8 p.m. to midnight


Grab your feathers, beads, and costumes because FONZ's Young Professionals are celebrating Mardi Gras Brazilian style at "Carnaval!" Dance the night away while enjoying traditional Brazilian food and drinks, live music, and a silent auction. The festivities will include samba lessons by a professional dancer and up-close encounters with a variety of Zoo inhabitants. Tickets are $50 for FONZ members and $75 for nonmembers. Proceeds benefit the Zoo's Golden Lion Tamarin Conservation Program, so take advantage of this golden opportunity to help save this endangered species. You must be at least 21 to attend this event. "Grapes with the Apes" Young Professionals Wine-Tasting Event - April (Date and times undetermined)

National ZooFari 2007 - Thursday, May 17, 6:30 to 10 p.m.


FONZ's marquee fundraising event, National ZooFari is a casual, exciting evening of gourmet foods, fine wines, and fabulous entertainment. Each year, thousands of guests enjoy delicacies prepared by master chefs from more than 100 of the D.C. area's finest restaurants, as well as wine served by vintners from around the world. Live music, animal encounters, a sweepstakes, and a silent auction round out a magical evening under the stars. Proceeds from ZooFari benefit a variety of programs at the National Zoo, including conservation and science projects, exhibit development and construction, and the Zoo's revitalization projects. "Brew at the Zoo" Young Professionals Beer-Tasting Event - August (Date and times undetermined)


Raise your glass to conservation and join more than 2,000 young professionals from the D.C. area at FONZ's third annual beer-tasting event, "Brew at the Zoo." Enjoy twinkling lights, festive music, thirst-quenching drinks, and appetizing hors d'oeuvres, all while you mingle with other area young professionals.
