  1. Interesting thoughts on Ronald Reagan's take of the 4th Amendment. Reagan believed that our Country would only grow stronger with a well-informed public. Read more on his thoughts regarding the 4th Amendment, his admiration of James Madison, and his thoughts on the "Freedom of Information Act'' here. http://www.whitehousechristmasornament.com/content/Ronald-Reagan-Views-on-Fourth-Amendment.html

    Whirlpool moving to Mexico

1000 Americans just lost their jobs. Whirlpool stated that one of the main reason they are shutting down their U.S. plant is "aggressive pricing actions of global competitors -- some of whose trade practices are currently under investigation by the U.S. government."

    DC VegFest

The DC VegFest is a FREE outdoor festival celebrating the very best of everything vegetarian in and around the nation's capital. There are so many reasons to choose vegetarian foods "for our health, the planet, and animals" and Washington, D.C. offers wonderful opportunities to explore meatless cuisine. The DC VegFest has something for everyone to enjoy, so bring along your family and friends, including your furry four-legged companions! What can you expect throughout the day? In addition to lots of food, friends, and fun, the schedule is now online -- and it's jam-packed with dynamic speakers, fantastic cooking demos, and many opportunities for book signings. Opening the event is local favorite NBC4-TV anchor Wendy Rieger who is joining us for the third year in row! After she kicks off the 2011 DC VegFest, we'll dive into the inner world of animals with animal behavior expert, Jonathan Balcombe followed by a cooking demo by Brennan Gerald. Next up is Colleen Patrick-Goudreau who will share with us the joys and ease of transitioning to a plant-based diet, encouraging everyone to take her 30-Day Vegan Challenge! Then we'll go inside for a fun interactive quiz about the latest in human nutrition, hosted by Dr. Michael Greger who will also be offering free cholesterol tests throughout the day at his NutritionFacts.org booth. Shifting back outside, Dawn Moncrieffe will briefly share with us details about her research project linking meat production with higher gas prices. And we'll then be joined by Wayne Pacelle who will discuss his new book, The Bond: Our Kindship with Animals, Our Call to Defend Them. Then get ready for a Vegan with a Vengeance cooking demo by Isa Chandra Moskowitz! And Maryland Delegate Aruna Miller will inspire us to get more politically active, empowering us to reach out to our elected representatives about the importance of taking steps to protect our health, the planet and animals.

    2011-2012 Redskins Season

Another football season is here and we are all hopeful that the Redskins will finish above .500 but after watching the quarterback play last night it seems we are headed for 4-12 or 6-10 at best. John Beck looked lost and if he is our starting quarterback this season is going to be painfully long. And someone tell Banks he needs to actually get into the end zone before celebrating.

  13. Poet Maya Angelou is upset with one of the inscription on the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington DC. The inscription Angelou is upset with reads "I was a drum major for justice, peace, and righteousness." This is part of a quote that Dr. King delivered at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1968. The entire quote is "If you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice, say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness. And all of the other shallow things will not matter." According to Maya Angelou the omission of "if" in the inscription on the Wall of Quotes changes the meaning of Dr. King's words and in her option makes him "look like an arrogant twit" and "minimizes the man." The inscription is one of 14 quotes carved on the monument's Wall of Quotes.
