Located in Charles County, southern Maryland, 50 miles south of Washington D.C, is Next Step Produce. Of its 86 certified organic acres, about 15 are in seasonal organic vegetables, flowers, herbs, and a young persimmon/kiwi/fig orchard. Its’ bounty is sold at farmers markets in the Washington D.C. region, and some wholesale. The remaining area is in grass for mulch-hay and compost production, as well as in woods and a marsh bordering on a tidal river.

We, at Next Step Produce, consist of lifetime farmer Heinz Thomet and family. We are looking for people who are active believers in an alternative food system, and in the physical, mental, and emotional attributes that make such a system viable. Good work ethic, not separate from life ethic, for us is expressed through mindfulness, initiative, and self-responsibility, guided by community spirit, and earth pride.
