Very carefully that's how. Finding a great teacher who is going to come into your home and spend time with your child should not be left to chance. Use a referal always. This is simply the best way to ensure not only the quality of the person you get but also the quality of the instruction. It's always a good thing when someone you trust tells you about their experience with so and so who taught their child piano at home. You can trust that they were happy because they're telling you about it! People always like to share a good experience with their friends and neighbors. So if you need a private music instructor start by talking to people you know. Ask around and you'll be sure to learn about a teacher or two. Another good way to find a good teacher is to ask the music person at your childs school. They almost always will be able to point you in the right direction.

If you are looking for a music teacher, and don't know where to find one, the people that I called were B&B Music World. They have excelent, professional teachers who come to your home to teach with no hassle. I needed a piano teacher AND a guitar teacher and they provided ONE teacher to come to my home and teach both of my children, because he is proficient in both the piano and the guitar. I found them on Google but you can always go to their site at www.bnbmusicworld.com

Just tryin to help

I had a good experience with B&B Music World also. I found them through an ad on dcpages.com which took me to their web site. I LOVE my cello teacher and my cello lessons. She is really great and the time just flew by. She really made me enthusiastic about the cello again and she comes to my house. I have a friend who is interested in learning the viola. He lives in Bethesda in Montgomery County, near North Potomac. I wonder if they have teachers in that area? He asked me to inquire for him. Meanwhile, I'll continue my love affair with the cello.

This post gives me hope; I will definitely try these B&B guys. Customer service is seemingly dead, and you can never be sure what you're getting! The places I have called so far have for the most part left me feeling like I was bothering them in trying to give them my business and, as you can imagine, this did not increase my confidence in the quality of their service... I'll be back with a report of my experience!
