The District of Columbia has recently launched an exciting new program designed to bring economic revitalization to North Capitol neighborhoods by increasing the number of retail stores that serve them.

The program is called North Capitol Main Street, part of the city's reStore DC initiative. The program focuses on partnerships between the District Government, civic/professional organizations, residents and business owners to facilitate commercial growth. North Capitol Main Street will work closely with the other Main Streets located at 14th & U Street, 14th Street Heights, Barracks Row and H Street NE.

The program is hosted by the North Capitol Neighborhood Development Corporation (NCND), a non-profit community development center. Unlike the other program designees, North Capitol Main Street has the distinction of covering more than one commercial corridor. The program's service area encompasses parts of North Capitol Street, 1st Street NW and Rhode Island, Florida and New York Avenues.
