The master bedroom (about 14x11 ft, plus closet) is available in a group house in Takoma, DC, only 3 blocks from the Metro! Rent to share this lovely house is $770 not including utilities, but including Wi-Fi, and some other small common costs. The house is cleaned on a monthly basis by a cleaning service (price included in rent). Utilities average around $80-100 a month depending upon the time of year.
The house is a well-maintained classic 1926 American Bungalow House, with hardwood floors, Central Air, 3 bedrooms, large attractive modern kitchen, sunny dining room, nice living room, 1 1/2 bathrooms, washer and dryer in the basement, small front porch, and a large backyard that gives you the opportunity to garden a bit. Your bedroom would be on the first floor. There's even a guest room for visitors!
Ideal Location - In addition to being just a few minutes from the Metro, the house is: 2 blocks from a Flex car station; 4 blocks from a 24 hour bus route (the 70 Bus) and numerous other bus route that go downtown, to Columbia Heights, Petworth, and Silver Spring; 1 1/2 blocks from the Takoma Aquatic Center (indoor pool, free to DC residents), 6 blocks from a Safeway grocery store; 2 blocks from restaurants, a Mom and Pop store, barber shop, and other small businesses; 4 blocks from Old Town Takoma; one metro stop from downtown Silver Spring; 4 metro stops from Union Station and downtown DC.
Who we are:
Ben is 29 and has a background in International Affairs. He currently works as a researcher for a labor union and spends a lot of his time engaged in economic justice work in the DC area. He speaks German and enjoys traveling and staying engaged with the world.
Danny is about the same age as Ben, has a background in international development, and works at a professional association. He spends his free time practicing his Spanish and plotting his next move to promote social justice.
This is by no means a party house - it is normally very quiet during the week - but we do like to keep things social, especially on weekends. We have had a few bigger parties and potlucks, and we have guests stay overnight fairly regularly. The housemates have their own friends and social lives but also enjoy spending time together. We share interests in social and economic justice and seek to stay informed about the world around us.

We are looking for a non-smoker who is ok with living with a cat we plan to get soon. Ideally, you would be around the same age as us, though we are flexible for the right person. Both Danny and Ben are very neat, so we look for the same in a roommate. We're also looking for someone who is relatively social and likes spending time with the other housemates at occasional house dinners, etc.
You can easily live in this house without a car. If you do have a car, there is plentiful street parking in front of the house. If it is unavailable, there is a shared driveway and an alley in the back. You can rent the room furnished or unfurnished.
