Bethesda Chevy Chase "Green" Wedding Venue

Constructed in 1929 for Captain and Mrs. Chester Wells, The grand Georgian Revival Mansion and Colonial estate at Woodend in Chevy Chase offers spectacular settings for weddings, gatherings, and celebrations. Designed by the famed John Russell Pope, architect of the Jefferson Memorial and National Gallery of Art, the Estate was donated by the Wells Family the the Audubon Naturalist Society in 1968.

With its classic Greek portico, sweeping lawns, and spacious, high-ceilinged rooms, you'll find the Estate reasonably priced and relaxed, yet exquisitely elegant.

The tented terrace will accommodate up to 150 seated guests. Outdoors, a wedding grove offers an enchanting backdrop for romantic ceremonies while the Great Hall with its staircase and balcony provides a warm and gracious alternative.

Woodend is unique in that its wonderful grounds, spacious mansion house, and adjoining terrace allow couples to hold both their ceremony and reception at the same location. This reduces transportation considerably and the outdoor setting will infuse the whole event with a natural sensibility (and require less decorating, too!)

What a cool setting for a Spring Wedding. It sure beats the 'ole Fountainbleau. Thanks for sharing.

I found this neat idea for Valentine's Day that I just had to have...

What could possibly go wrong, right?
