Nats lose their 2009 Home Opener

The Washington Nationals lost their home opener last night to the Philadelphia Phillies 9-8. The team is now 0-7 and is the last team in baseball to earn a 1st win.

Right now the team is awful. The defense has been horrible and the starting pitching rotation has been hammered. Even when the team hits the ball well (Guzman 5-5) and scores runs (Dunn, Zimmerman, and Dukes homered), Daniel Cabrera walks in runs and Anderson Hernandez botches two grounders.

I thought last year was bad but this year hurts more because I thought the Washington Nationals might actually field a decent team. Now we are on our way to another 100+ loss season and with only more meaningless home runs in games we have already lost. I know I am being pretty hard on the team but there hasn't been much to cheer about except Guzman and Dukes putting up good numbers in losses.

I hope we play good for the rest of the Season. I know we are 0-7 and we have not won, but the Nationals are still my team and I am hard on the team because they can not pull out of a come behined defichet come back. I know we can win games. but we act like we are just not in the game and thats why we dont win games and thats why we are 0-7 and we better start playing hard and start winning games for the team and are fans too. last night I thought we played good and I think we will win a couple games this year. your Nationals fan joe knight!

I had fun last night at Nationals Park and I thought the Nationals played good. I also enjoyed baby Lukes birthday. Luke and Jenna brought baby Luke a baby Nationals Jersey and we received a free Nationals hat. Then we went home. I thought we had lots of eras and we only scored 8 points and we could not pull it out. But all in all I had a great time with my family.

We took our son to the 'National's Home Opener.' It was Luke Jr.'s first birthday. The District's transition over the last decade has been quite amazing. The National's really need to capitalize this moment. We are in a recession with hypes of hope. Everyone pays attention to an outdated market. The real market is what people are saying about you. Right now the 'Love is Leaving' the Nats.' The team needs more discipline. Errors cost us the game.

I saw alot of Philly fans and empty seats in a great stadium.

P.S. they misspelled my Luke Jr.'s name on the billboard.

Washington Nationals fans finally have something to cheer about - the team's first winning streak of the season. With a 4-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves last night the Washington bullpen pitched a great game for the second day in a row. Maybe sending all those pitchers down to the minors after a weekend full of blown leads (3-for-3 in losing games leading into the 9th inning) is finally registering with this team.

Anyways, way to go Nats! Now let’s start playing at a MLB level for the rest of the year.
